Part 18: • Freeway Ricky Explains...
Part 1: • Freeway Ricky on Harry...
--------
In this clip, Freeway Ricky questioned whether entertainers actually have the money they purport to have on social media and elsewhere. Freeway Ricky and Vlad talked about how powerful perception is and how labels use the perception of wealth and success to sell records. Freeway Ricky said that might explain why artists find themselves involved in the streets to make some extra money to keep up appearances.
Rich man acts poor, and the poor man acts rich. It's a mindset thing.
That just sounds good nobody really lives like that in 2021, u may got 1 out of ten people that really play broke but really rich
Straight up

@bryan Few do but social media makes it seem like EVERYBODY in the world with money flaunt it which isn’t true but I feel you
That's facts....I've seen a couple millionaires in my town digging dumpsters for recyclables as a hobby and I know people in their 40s that still fake it til they make it
Jewels coming from a man who's had more money in his life than 99% of rappers 👍👍👍
More money than some of the richest people in the world.
Yo he drops some dimes!!!!
Most? More like ALL except maybe jay z and diddy.
But did he ever get to spend it on anything exotic I mean he had it but he moved low key so I wonder if he ever bought anything you dream of
All of em put together 😂
This is why he made millions. He understood the game.

One of the major steps I took towards achieving my own financial freedom was to stop caring what other people think. We spend a lot of money because of social influence and it's dumb.
Facts I'll never understand how they claim to have millions of dollars but still signed to someone else's label
Means of production, it's not unusual in any industry. Employees can make money but the company has the real value. There are a few exceptions but it's just a rule of business.

When 50cent and Kanye was going at it to see who sold the most albums..I believe it was their second album that dropped on the same day..y’all remember when they came on bet and performed...50 performed his I get money track and the crowd was feeling it...he even said at the end...Kanye can’t do that...then Kanye performed can’t tell me nothing and when he said...wait till I get my money right the whole crowd was screaming that shit right along with him cause they felt that shit...just a OBZERVATION
I think 2020 showed us that being a rapper isn’t the move anymore. The money we think they have they really don’t.
How u know that, just a question?
Kanye west just took out a 3 million dollar SBA loan. That should tell you enough.
Movies are artists told me this if The temptations and Jackson 5 have label issues with major hits rappers who can't go Platinum isn't making money.

Vlad should treat “Flashbacks” like designer clothes. Once it’s been used don’t use it again!
You don’t have to spend thousands to look fashionable. Having all designer clothes on is lame honestly. Save your bread.
Designer not lame when you got racks on u and the thots on your mushroom tip

Most “true artists,” whether the revered painters or sculptors of long ago history & fame, as well as musicians & so on of today, die broke. That’s just a fact. Doesn’t matter if you’re talking about Vincent Van Gogh, Basquiat or Tupac. A “true artist” is always going to be more focused on the creation of art...but Vlad just so happens to be speaking to hustlers about it that are involved in the “arts” or music game.
Real ones dgaf about what other people think whether you’re rich or poor... 🙂
Aint even needa be said.. ✊🏽
💯✊🏿
It was always strange to me why during the creation of the “bling era” in Hip Hop from turn of millennium…why the most popular and best selling hip hop artist of that time never embraced the bling era…interesting?
There is a saying in that entertainment world
“Fake it till you make it”
now a days, it’s more like fake it til you die
Exactly you’ll be surprised some post fake money on Instagram smh. That stack be looking real tho to the fans. Lol
Lmao. Shonuff

amazing
The artist is the last to get paid. That's if they haven't advance themselves out of future payment. With wreck less spending.
Most bands and artists only get a fraction of a live concert ticket gross. There's a shitload of expenses and opening acts that get taken out of that, so there might be 20% left for them if they're lucky
This conversation is interesting and it makes a lot of sense. There is an image to success in society and it's sad.
Yup. Like chains and cars
Rick Ross is such a smart and careful interview he is very delicate with his words when he speaks
He just stated "People think Jay Z is rich"? He is rich!
Lol Vlad...you don’t even let your interviews marinate good before it becomes a flashback 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
My friend drives a Benz but has roommates 😂 but he has to floss
Vlad you don't know them.... You met them.
Being Fake n public n unhappy when u r alone because u know u are faking it. That's wat people do for the GRAM
That's actually the truth.
Ralo and Cas didnt have no real rap money that's why they was still in the streets
Exactly
@@chrisdacrisis4670 since the beginning of time
They didn't have no billboard songs out, and they didn't try to sharpening their craft for the music to be entertaining to all instead of local hood fame and success. I tried giving the boy Ralo a listen dl his mixtape a while back and it was horrible😪 😪🤦🏾. I deleted it after one listened lol. My main point is these dudes will use their street cred to get a buzzing song then think that they can still do street shit, make bs mixtapes, while not learning how to make a solid album or hit record.
Ralo did shows in my small hometown I knew he wasn't making money from rap shows.
Ralo had more money than 95% of rappers.
we need more interviews like this 💪🏽💯
Ricky is a real one
Steve Jobs wore the same clothes everyday. Everybody still got an iPhone 🤷🏽♂️
Love hearing freeway talk he has not forgotten what makes you well you....money didn't change him
I remember watching an old Rocafella Recods doc, and most of them dudes was borrowing them fly ass cloths for them music videos...while our asses was going to the mall buying them 200-300 dollar jerseys trying to dress like State Property, and Dip Set lol....young and dumb man 🤦🏾♂️

The last 30 secs of Rick talking was the best part of the interview
Wow, he is so insightful and honest.
All these rappers act like they getting all this money in a pandemic doing shows with 200 people..you paying somebody..then posting lambos
And getting that WAP!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shit can be a whole rental too
I looked away and caught Rick looking away too on the look back 😂 his eyes stay movin
HipHop is not a poor man’s sport 💯
Yes it is. Most these rappers broke as fuck only a few actually are rich
The Irony is that it came from the struggle
It is if you don't rap like you had before you had enter rap. Remember Migos claim they rich without rap but suing the label because the lack of funds.
But the fact is hip hop come from poor side of Cities, ghetto, where the poor lookin for fun on the street. Their rappin and dancin just for fun.
A person with too many wants, often times will not put his needs first.
TK taught freeway all this
risk eyes be all over the place... always on point
The way freeways eyes constantly scan around he's clearly one of those super observant types
That makes so much sense. Image is everything.
A artists is a person that paints a picture of something that they want to desire
i love Freeways interviews...so intelligent
Being a rapper is smokes and mirrors. Rappers are far from poor , but they don’t have the money you think . Labels taking a percentage . Also rappers keeping up with a image , which isn’t cheap . Buying a house or house(S) with crazy mortgages, cars , lavish trips , shopping definitely adds up .
This Lil Bibby flashback will be brought back to life every interview
He is right and wrong biggie smalls came up ruff and rugged once he went gold you saw the change and we all knew he was going to blow. This is what made Jay-Z so significant he came in the game with stuff rappers only pretended to have
We gonna hear this clip forever 😭😭
Dude is one of the most down to earth people!
Ralo is a bad example because he’s rich af and doesn’t need to rap lol

I have always thought instagram is just window shopping for the poor people.
That is a DEEP statement and I agree with you 100%, could you elaborate to me on why you feel this way
I wonder how many times this video will be used as a flashback. Vlad was moaning like he was eating banana pudding when he heard that.
Freeway is n underrated figure in American history n culture!!
💯💯💯
There’s a difference between being rich and famous.
Been thinking about this since the pandemic shut concerts down. Don’t see many flexing show money any more. Shit been real quiet for most.
Freeway was knocked out at beginning of interview lol🥱😴
Perception is everything.
Idk how most people dk this. I be seeing rappers who's less than a year in the game with foreigns in a mansion...
My mind : Lease/rental and air bnb
Teenagers mind: he's rich, let me rap too and get rich.
Yup and it's sad because some will or would spends years chasing a dream and not receiving any income from it. I love hip-hop music and it's entirety but it's a special gift or talent that only a few individuals are able to have.

Rick such a solid dude!! Salute! 👑 💯
That's exactly how it is and also clearly shows how materialistic and shallow we as a society have become!
When these gentlemen talk it's just best to listen to the game
Freeway see it different 💰
Protect this man at all cost
Get ready for that Jay Z line to be flash backed in the next 6 interviews.
Freeway is a mastermind
The title had me weak 💀💀
It’s all smoke and fire 🔥 with a few leases mixed in!
Real talk Rick 👍🏼💯💯🤔
Fresh white Ts, nice jeans and fresh pair of kicks, combined with not being on social media every day, then nobody will know what your wearing daily and when they see you, you'll always look fresh, switching the look from time to time, but not to the extreme. It must be hard being constantly in the public eye and wondering how you look! I'm not super material or anything, but you got to think of it from the perspective of a young famous person who cant handle all judgement and hasn't yet found inner wealth beyond the dollar
Perception is real
What did OJ tha juiceman say in Make tha Trap say Aye..
"Rap game easy but the dope game gravy"
Because dope game You buy from your connect sell it at a price where you can re-up and put a few hundred in your pockets.
Just because it looks good doesn't mean that it is good
These same constant discussions had freeway falling asleep 😂
That sweatshirt kind of hard
Real wealthy ppl dress in average clothes, they know they got it and dont have to impress no body.
That's not the reason. They are born with no interest in those interesting things, they are born with useful instincts, born mature.
This is dope
Damn that was dope💯 vladtv about to wear this out😂😂😂
Freeway is da truth!!!!!!!
I can really related to this guy how he approaches life

I don’t want to impress people, I want to impress my bank account.
He absolutely right, if ppl saw the hottest artists out right now dressed in cheap clothes, along with driving around in a normal car like a Subaru or honda, not only would ppl stop listening to them but ppl would stop seeing there shows.
Rappers who’s content is mainly about money/girls/etc but pop ⭐️’s can do that.
@@goldenstar_1007 I would say true because that's mostly every popular rapper's content, they also are selling themselves, where pop and R&B are more about the music itself that's why they don't have to be flashy. Good example take your favorite rap artist today and take away all the flashy expensive shit away would you still listen to them, and be fan. Or would you call them a bum and move on.
Rick needs to drop some merch
This has to be the smartest dude you interviewed
It's all about the moment of a person's mentality. Most 🌠 only have moments.
