The first time I heard LeAnn I thought it was a Patsy song I never heard before. As an adult, she did this song at an awards show as a tribute to Patsy and blew the audience away.

I remember hearing this when it first played on the radio. For a while I actually thought it was Patsy Cline until one day I heard Miss Rimes name mentioned. Well done video Don!

When she did this song the radios couldn't play it enough.

She has a great voice and has had some great songs. That being said, about a year after this came out, she was coming to the area I lived in for a concert and did a radio interview on a local station. I don't remember what she said, but after all these years my memory of the interview was, I hate to talk bad about someone, so let's just say, I was not left with a good impression of her. Then again she was just a kid dealing with 'stardom'. Her singing is amazing. Thanks Jeff and Don.

I remember when this came out and all the hubbub about how old she was. I thought this was a stellar song for the almost "playful" way LeAnn's performs it, especially live. As for "How Do I Live"; well, I can totally hear Patsy Cline in my head (tempo, range, lyrics and maturity) when I listen to it. I thought Trisha's voice was the better suited since Patsy wasn't able to record it. Yikes, I need to duck...I think a bullet just passed over my head!!

This was LeAnn Rimes first single in 1996. All the pre-adolescent boys and some adolescent boys freaked out over LeAnn Rimes. If you were 12-14 years old, she didn't look like any 14 year old girl they had ever seen. Amazing talent, but she got an immediate push that allot of great talents like Mandy Barnett for example who was only 18 when she appeared on the scene never got. Mandy was Patsy Cline in the touring play "Always Patsy Cline".

Hey Don, thanks for responding to my comment. I was just surprised because those lists usually DON’T reflect newer country. So the idea that a modern song could reach the level of Willie and Conway and Merle means it wasn’t just popular, but transcends generations. Thank you though for not thinking I was trying to be critical because I absolutely wasn’t trying to be.

She was very much like young Tanya Tucker in presence and performance back then.

When this 1st came out - most folks I know thought this was a "forgotten" Patsy Cline!!!

Thanks so much Jeff for requesting this great song! As you know it's one of my all time faves - loved it from the first time I heard it, and I didn't realize she was so young until later. So Don no bullets from me, it's an excellent reaction, thanks!!!!

Glad you liked it. I had to find the interview where she said it was written for Patsy (you were correct)

OK, sticking with the vaunted "Blue" theme, Deborah Allen had a great song she wrote with Hubby Rafe Van Hoy called "Two Shades of Blue" and Lari White had a song she co-wrote called "Something Blue". Both great songs, and both right up Don's ally stylistically. I would love to hear him react on those. I don't know if he has ever reacted to a Deborah Allen song before?

@@jcat__ I didn't think he had. I couldn't find anything. Deborah is awesome and very under appreciated. Only two Lari White songs and one of those was "Helping Me Get Over You" the duet she co-wrote with Travis Tritt. I'm still waiting for Kelly Willis, James House, Joy White, and Mandy Barnett among others as well. Another awesome song with "Blue" in the title is Radney Foster "Louisiana Blue". Again, very much Don's preferred style. Holly Dunn didn't have a song specifically with "Blue" in the title that I can't think of, but a song like "Sometime Today" comes pretty close. So does "Temporary Loss of Memory". Oh wait, I guess she did. "The Blue Rose Of Texas".

Thank you Don for reacting to LeAnn again for me. You're out of the dog house, for aa bit anyways. 😁😁😁 Also thank you for being so considerate in helping me manage my money by reducing the outflow of cash I have to layout for bullets 🤣🤣🤣 But all kidding aside, I am glad you're having fun with this (me too). Not every one gets my humor but I always try to find humor to lighten the mood (doesn't work out to well at church or funerals😷 ). Like I said yesterday, there is just something about LeAnn's voice, stage presence and good hearted nature that has me putting her in the same category as Reba and Martina McBride. As you have seen from the two reactions you have done on LeAnn, she is very versatile. You need to check out her cover of "He Stopped Loving Her Today" th-cam.com/video/ZXJ62RPfzPI/w-d-xo.html

Have you listened to Tanya Tucker - Delta Dawn she was 13 when she recorded it. You should be able to find a copy of her first hit.
