Thank you. Im stuggling with this college semester im taking some higher classes than before and im falling behind in my class work. I was going through a low sad and fustrated emotional loop. My todo list seems endless and my hopes diminished. But watching this gave me new zeal.... im going to take small steps in studying even if it seems like a mountain ahead of me. I still have two weeks before my midterms and I can catch up!!! Im going to start small study for 20 minutes and then take a 5 minute break walking around my apartment! :) then repeat the cycle!!!!
Pj K - Good for you for starting small! I just love Marie and this was a great podcast... I’m also in the midst of reading Marie’s latest book (Everything is Figureoutable). I’m a leadership coach and just started a brand new channel which I think might also help you... Please let me know what you think. Take care! th-cam.com/video/vfoWr7ECg5c/w-d-xo.html
This is the revelation I’ve only recently had... I feel like everything he’s saying is crucial advice! Thank you both for taking the time to make this. This could help so many people change their lives. This is such a good discussion. If I could show someone only 1 video to convey this crucial information, I might choose this one!
Thank you Marie and Ranjan! I loved this video. One of my favorite ideas in this episode was the idea of calling these small habits "health snacks." I love food, I love SNACKS... this is such a simple and powerful use of language. Love it! I also laughed out loud when Ranjan was using the example of brushing our teeth. I find myself always feeling like I need to do push myself (for example: a 60 minute yoga class and anything less isn't worth the effort), but changing my perspective that just like brushing my teeth, that 5-10 minutes yoga daily adds up to a 60 minute class over time, PLUS it makes me feel like a winner in the moment. Thanks so much for the interview... and everything you do! Excited to get the book.
I purchased the book as soon as I saw this the other day. It is here with me now. I love all you do Marie now that I found you. So looking forward to reading this book and following the practices. I am not new to mediation and all other forms of healing but I found that I must have this to not only further my knowledge but to help others. Thank you for you.
The point about the motivation trough and taking that into account while planning for a new habit.. that was a real game changer for me. It's the most humane, generous and insightful piece of advice I have received. Thank you so much for this. I have hope that baby steps repeated will work. We get into such a negative judgement loop even about choosing baby steps rather than going all out. Thank you so much for this. Sharing with everyone I know.
Omg Dr Chatterjee thank you so much for sharing these life changing tips and ideas. They have come at such a timely point in my life and I'm feeling a lot more hopeful of progress and can see how it will improve self love. This is beautiful 💗💗💗
Wow! Thank you Marie for this! This was such a true, authentic and relatable conversation to watch and listen too. It was about time people had this much needed conversation. ❤️🥰😇 God Bless You Both Abundantly!. Thank you again. ❤️👍
Thanks, Marie! This was a great conversation. I've listened to several of Dr. Chatterjee's podcast/interviews and have become quite a fan. I'm a firm believer in "a little goes a long way"!
I totally loved this video. Thank you so much. I especially love the idea that health and good habits can be easy and fun. It's what I experienced myself. I started running as an adult for 10 minutes every week and now I am able to run distances and times I did not believe that were possible for me. Really... verything starts small. and it starts with love and patience. Do one thing small and celebrate it. everyone is worth it. is worth the love and positive change. :)
Love you Marie! You are my north star ❤ when I am in doubt I follow you. When I feel sad I search you more than I search any song ❤ Have a long life! Hope we meet one day ❤
I feel like the idea of incorporating health snacks is going to be a game changer for me. I so often feel like a loser because I’m not someone who enjoys going to the gym or a yoga class...but a 5 minute workout in my kitchen is right up my alley. Thanks to you both ( Marie & Rangan) for sharing your ideas and experiences...and I will most likely order the book on 1 click ordering via Amazon. (Frictionless motivation!) 🙌🏾
Thanks for this upload both of you. Really good tips and very timely as I am struggling to start a new project and keep putting it off. I put it down to self sabotage sometimes. On another note I do similar mind hacks like breaking things/chores in smaller chunks, such as workouts. I tend to put off longer home workouts but if i am able to convince myself to do those 10-15 min ones (do this 10 mins workout before i get into the shower since i am going to sweat) much more successfully and usually it leads to a longer session, and even if it doesnt at least i did those 10 mins. I also do the dishes when I am waiting for my coffee. Get it out of the way because having a clean sink makes it less a struggle to start preparing lunch later in the day. Everything is a cycle.
Wonderful as always, thanks Marie. Watched it over breakfast and already thinking about how I can stack some healthy snacks into my day. I'll start with 1 and build my way up! This was a great way to start my day.
Thank you for making this video for us,it really motivates me a lot. These days, I keep feeling down all the time, just because I can't stop comparing myself with other students in my class. I think most of them have strong willpowder and they have made more achievements than me. For this, I considered myself as rubbish, but after I watched this video, I feel better now, because I realised that I actually done something in the past. The reason why I ignore them is that I can't see them clearly and it's hard for me to feel my prograss everyday.
Yes, and years later you can see the difference, especially compared to those who spend most of their time with jealousy and negativity. Learned helplessness or obstinate helplessness, because then I can spend my time undermining and exploring you. Wag wag the tongue, control and benefit and maintain my comfort.
Love love loved listening to this and I soooo agree! I had to laugh when you said you do squats while drying hair. I do this while putting on make up or doing hair on days I don’t have time to work out... make it a daily habit AND something you will enjoy and you can stick with it♥️ Thank you Marie and Dr. Chatterjee ♥️🙏🏻
I found this so helpful to and put this into perspective,, for my procrastination habit and has helped me with my All or Nothing Mindset,,Thank-you both!
My biggest takeaway is that it's better to do something for 5 minutes than to do nothing. And that over time those small pockets of time will add up. My health challenge is being overweight, and knowing there are certain foods I need to avoid completely because they are triggers for me
This has been so motivating, Thank you so much. I struggle with sticking to plans, but 5 minutes of anything is totally achievable. Off to Audible to search for the book. Thank you Doc Rangan and Marie for a brilliant episode!
Dear Marie and Team, I would like to know how do you share the books, every body reads it, or just some? do you have like a books club? do you read some ideas in meetings? I read a lot and I want to share my reading with my team to, but they are not too much into reading. Thank you!! Tons of love for Marie Forleo's team, you guys are amazing!!
Thank you for helping me shift my mindset to embrace that 5 min of good daily DOES make a positive difference. Now I just need to figure out what to tie 5 min of core strength to so that it sticks. - Marisa
Hi, Marie! Thank you for bringing us this book :) I want to start sleeping before midnight, and this technique may help. So, I'll use the 5 minute rule to get earlier in bed, meaning when I look at the clock and I want to stay 5 more minutes, I'll actually go to bed. I know it's not exactly what the book is about, but I want to get creative and actually start somewhere :) Much love xoxo
I honestly have my shit together and feel like I am doing a lot of the right things with the result that I love the life I have created. Still I am pretty sure I will have a look into this book. What an amazing, inspiring talk! *off to buy some coffee beans*
Hi. My challenge is fighting depression and anxiety. I feel so drained and exhausted fighting it . It makes me more depressed . I have tried all meds gosh I don’t seem to feel better .
I will meet you, and raise you. I LOVE to dance like an idiot to a song that makes you feel amazing, the whole song, with the goal of making yourself/your family laugh when Im making my coffee.
Doing just a few minutes of exercise that last the day is nothing new unfortunately. Ryan Holiday (author of The Daily Stoic, The Obstacle Is the Way and more) proposed this. I advise this to my students. No need to waste an hour at the gym just to feel like you exercised.
Not really. I have been practising this way with patients for 20 years. Atomic Habits is a great book, I agree. My book is full of 5 minute actions to do with health. Very different books. And, if you want to really dig deep, James Clear who wrote Atomic Habits quotes research from Professor BJ Fogg, which BJ has put in his own book, Tiny Habits. All of us are trying to help people using our voice and our experience. Hope that helps to clarify for you.

Atomic Habits is a fantastic book and i reckon the two would complement each other. Will be checking out this book especially as i run a workshop for 14 year olds on how to develop identity through your habits. Thank you
