I think so too When making the video I chose this scene because I always loved it but having looked over the rest of the film in 4:3 really made me feel like Burton shot it for being (visually) appreciated in this aspect ratio
@@LP-tu3kp It's a good pick. Also this was released at a time when 4:3 TVs were still the norm, so it's likely Burton filmed the movie with this in mind. You'll probably only see the film once or twice in the cinema but after the theatrical release, the majority of people will see it on TV.
This definitely gives the impression that Burton shot the film with 4:3/academy ratio in mind. The theatrical matte feels obligatory, not intentional.
