- Hard to believe it, but the end is here...for Mario Kart 8, anyway. The Booster Course Pass and its surprise extra rounds of DLC--two years' worth, no less--have taken what was already an acclaimed title and turned it into a definitive experience among racing games. One jam-packed with content, now rocking a whopping 24 cups and 96 racetracks!
Well, only one thing to do now: Rank all 48 of the newly remade tracks in tier list form! Let's go over all of them one at a time, determining the best, worst, and everything in between. How will they stack up compared to the hundreds of other opinions out there? Who knows!

Bangkok might've felt off to you because it was gutted of many things that made it possibly Tour's best city in my eyes. The river section let you bounce off the boats with canopies, the railway market had a ramp on the left side as well (baffling decision to get rid of it but leave coins up there, feels horrible jumping from the right side to the left), the Ink Piranha Plants were replaced with the Piranha Plants that *don't even do anything*, and cars were cut, including tuk-tuks with bouncy tops. I'm still bitter they took such a great city and made it a middle-of-the-pack one in 8
I would’ve ranked SNES Bowser’s Castle 3 higher, but nothing I overtly disagree with. Outside of that, I’m not sure I fully agree with the notion that MK10 has to be *massively* different from 8 Deluxe.

Piranha Plant Cove is one of my top tier tracks. When it was revealed in January the music was just beautiful ❤️
DS Waluigi Pinball still NEEDS Updates which makes this track in line with the Tour Vwrsion,like the Sound effect played when drive passed the flippers,They need to bring this back!!

Overall, the Booster Course pass tracks had many highs and a couple of noticable lows.
Some of the lows that stood out to me was the placement order of some tracks in their respective cups and probably the overabundance of returning Wii tracks.
While I'm sure most people are bummed that some tracks never made it back in the end (Airship Fortress, Shy Guy Bazaar, Toad's Factory, GC Rainbow Road), I'm sure modders are working tooth and nail in fixing that as we speak. I've already seen them do some impressive stuff from them already.
The bit at 19:45 where you get hit by blue shells in both clips is really funny to me

There’s not much here I really disagree with. The only points of contention I even have are- I don’t think any track, base game or DLC, hits D tier. Every track is at least decent to race on, and I think hits C tier at minimum.
The other… I’m just not a huge fan of Ninja Hideaway. It really just did not grab me like the rest. Something about the aesthetic doesn’t work for me and the track layout is solid, but doesn’t feel like the mind blowing “Regular Mario level BUT IN MARIO KART” experience everyone builds it up as.
That said, it still ranked an A tier when I made up a Mario Kart tier list of my own, so I recognize the quality. I just don’t really love it, I just think the level design is strong enough that I won’t complain on it.

Overall, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has an absolutely outstanding selection of tracks. As you see, I ranked 72 out of 96 courses at least "good" or better. That's 75%! And only 7 tracks (7.29%) that I would consider boring or downright terrible.
I can't stand for this merry mountain slander it's one of my top 10 tracks
The BCP was...something. While I'm glad to have gotten more Mario Kart in any capacity and it was was at a bargain for what they were offering, it kinda sucks that the quality couldn't be consistent and that very few tracks actually felt like something I would find in base 8. Still, a whole 21 out of 48 BCP tracks are in my top half in the game so I guess I can't be too hard on it. Good list some stuff I would shift a tier or 2 but in general I understand and respect your opinions.

Aside from a few picks that I find a bit too negative (seriously, London in D ? This one baffled me the most even though I'd still probably put it in the lower half, and also Shroom Ridge in C for "having simple turns" even though it probably has the hardest turns of any traffic track imo ? Also, while I'm not surprised with its ranking, I'd personally rank Sky Garden among my favorites because it might look simpler than the original, but the few added techs to it make it way more technical than it used to be), I still can agree on a lot of these picks here.
I've tried ranking these tracks on my free time but I honestly couldn't come up with a list I'm happy with because of how many tracks we got now with their overall great quality, I've been overall enjoying the BCP tracks way more than the original base game tracks and having some of my favorite tracks to play on like Coconut Mall, Moonview Highway and Rosalina's Ice World is a great time.
Do a theorical Super Smash Bros Booster pack.

No.
Unless you count Diddy and Funky, but it's clear they're considered Mario characters in the context of spin-offs.

It’s a shame we didn’t get another guest like Olimar or Zelda but if it meant that we could get more fan favorite Mario characters, I’ll take it.
I never liked guess characters in Mario Kart, I burley even picked them. They just feel so out of place IMO
Some of the choices/omissions are baffling to me, as well as how so many major landmarks in the Tour Tracks are visible, but not integrated into the course itself. I'm glad it gets better in the later cups, though, and it's a ton of content, which is great! Definitely want to get the pack sometime.

Strong disagree on Ninja Hideaway. I like the vibes, but it’s genuinely the most poorly designed track in the game.

The BCP made me realize just how *meh* the base nitro cups from 8 are. I hate to say it, but they just feel lame in comparison. I don’t feel any nostalgia for them unlike old courses from Wii or DS.
That’s probably because they’ve been the “modern” tracks we’ve been playing with for an entire decade. I don’t know how often people go back to their Wii or DS to play Mario Kart, but I have the feeling it’s less than the amount of people just play MK8- hence, no nostalgia. I think we’re all just a bit tired of these tracks nowadays imo

As much fun as it has been seeing all these classic Mario Kart tracks get updated in some aspect (even if not all of them are bangers, the original ice cream track looking like it was ripped straight from Fall Guys, the original Super Family Computer Mario Circuit track barely getting any updates, and many other old fan favorites still haven't been getting a second chance), I HOPE that this is the end of Mario Kart 8 for real as I really wish Nintendo made this much earlier in the Switch's lifespan, and not near the end significantly overhauling Mario Kart 9's chances of appearing on the same console (that, and the fact that you have to pay an additional subscription service via Nintendo's pointless, shitty, scummy, virtue signaling Expansion Pack just to try out any of these courses, and/or any of Nintendo's older games that aren't FC/SFC, and non-Nintendo games, as well as other DLC for other games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons is just plain robbery especially when their competitors Sony, and Microsoft do an overall much better job with their online services--though their actual games especially these days however are very mixed-negative compared to Nintendo's (mostly) superior quality of games), but since they announced it early last year, and ended it now, I think it's safe to assume that the Switch will probably be the first Nintendo console to not get a mainline Mario Kart since the og Game Boy, and the Game Boy Color (since neither of them officially got one), and to be honest, I kinda don't want MK9 to happen now it's been so long, and I fear that MK8 is just going to get continuously updated forever (I hope I'm proven wrong though)... 😟 But I seriously digress. At any rate, another solid video, Del! Always fun seeing you do other videos that aren't Smash Brothers, and I hope you'll do an analysis video of Mario Kart 9 (or whatever it'll be called) in the future! 👍
