- In a far flung corner of the Mortal Realms, anguish and misery reign, as a procession of Nighthaunt drag poor unfortunate souls to the bleak realms of Shyish. With the Mortarch of Grief herself leading the morbid parade, the reap a heavy toll upon the land. But the capricious whims of Tzeentch have brought his own Covens to this Realm, seeking to burn away the misery, alongside whatever last remnants of sanity yet remain. Flames burn brightly and reality shifts around the minions of the God of Magic, but can their inscrutable plans come to fruition in the despair ridden forms of the denizens of the underworld?

That nighthaunt paint job is just superb. The closer I look the more I’m amazed. Huge props to the artist!
@11:11 - If I remember correctly, the Anglo-Saxon word for that animal is Cu (which becomes "Cow") whereas the Norman/"French" word for the animal is "Bouef" (which becomes "Beef"); essentially, the people raising the animal named it when it's alive, and the people eating it when it's cooked named it on the plate.
Beat me to it
To add to this; the reason why it was split like this was because of William the conqueror, and after the battle of Hastings and the take over of the island of Britain, when the nobility all spoke French/Norman, but hardly any of them, at least at first, spoke the common language of the people.
Long story short: Because some Norman dude replaced the nobility of Great Britain by conquest, Pork/Pig and Beef/Cow differences became just how English works, when the languages eventually melded together over time.
Correct sir
and at 11:40 chicken becomes poultry ... again, from the french "poulet"
Kuh
You guys make the best batreps out there. I really hope AoS does well for y'all! I wanna keep supporting you on this game!!
Loving the "OooOOOoo"s when the ghosts move. Very immersive.
That lord of change is just breath taking
Hey i don't go here typically because i don't play 40k, but i wanted to say that i love y'all's dynamic and these armies look absolutely incredible! The level of detail and the contrast is just absolutely superb
Hurrah! More AOS!! Cant wait for this one
Probably the greatest NH paint job I have ever seen. Congratulations.
This Tzeentch army has both one of the coolest Lord of Change and the worst Chaos Spawn I've ever seen :D
Katie's new hair style makes her look like a bass player for a mental band. 🤘 Get in there girl 🤘
Back when the french took over England the upper class was obviously french and the peasents were anglosaxon. Thats why a cow stays a cow until it ends up in a noblemans kitchen where it would be called beef (or the old french word for boeuf at least). The same goes for pig (porc), chicken or other birds (poultry) and probably more or less any other animal one could eat
Come for the AoS, stay for the culinary history of the bourgeoisie.
Beat me to it! 😊
Love the use of Garkorr as a Knight of Shrouds, great thinking! Beautiful armies, love the ghosts!
More AoS! 🔥
Can we all agree that Katie is Rocking that look?!
I think we can!
I miss cute Katie actually not a fan of the punkish serious look
@@Rogers1000 I like both versions. 🙂
@@daemonnexusknight based
She's rockin it
Chef? Katie? Tzeentch? Nighthaunt? Only thing that's missing is some OBR and I'm here for everything.
Absolutely wonderful lads, well done.
Absolutely delightful game with both of their frustration with dice rolls making me laugh more than once.
Oh nice to see some nighthaunts for a change
I love the return to Sigmar! Current 40K has lost its luster to me, but the new edition of AOS is sooooo fun! Can't wait to see more battle reports!
You've got the Normans and Saxons to thank for us having different names for some animals and the food they provide is.
The Saxons were farmers and worked with the animal, which is where we get the words pig, cow, chicken and deer. Whereas the Normans, being very rich and fancy, knew the animal only as a food on their banquet table, giving us the words pork, beef, poultry and venison.
Great BatRep using armies I haven't seen as much of. :) Love the energy and banter.
40:30. No unit can use 2 command abilities same phase. Hence no rerolling counter charge
I don't know anything about AoS, but those armies look incredible.
The lord of change looks great.
The right amount of maniacal laughing and screaming in this one. Just the right amount!
Boom been waiting to see a Tzeench bat rep
right
The lion head lord of change is dope af!
That is a REALLY pretty Nighthaunt paint job! 👍
To eat beef etc is because when the normans came over they did not change the words the nobility used to call food. But they did not use the saxon words. The trend of the peasantry would slowly warp and the old saxon words for beef would disappear. It was also a way to separate nobility and peasants, e.g. the peasants would look after the cows but the nobles got to eat beef.
Two of my most beloved factions, but they’re fighting each other!! Either I hope the changer of ways gives those poor souls some new bodies (humanity in said bodies cannot be promised) or I hope for the ghostly armies of Nagash to reap the sinners of death. Well, I’m a true devotee of Tzeentch so I hope for both, none and all at the different time.
Both of these two are sweet and goofy. Love it.
AoS baby!!!!
40:50 are you able to reroll the Curseling countercharge? Wouldn't that mean he'd have used 2 commands in that phase (1.0 Advanced rules)?
Yeeeeeah more AoS
So excited to try my nighthaunt in 4th edition they look so fun! Thanks for the great content guys😌
That Tzeentch army is gorgeous but rooting for Katie and the ghosts! Love seeing Sigmar back on the channel
Loving all the AoS content!
At last more AOS thanks guys ❤
Two awesome looking armies! Chefs dice were tragic!
Another lovely Walk through the mortal realms. Now children If you look to the left we've got demons fighting ghosts oh what sights will we see next.
Loving the disciples of tzeentch army!
At 11:00, to answer your question very quickly, we chose a form of French words for animal food for the higher class food (filet mignon) and the base animal name for (and English) for the lesser quality food animals.
I just want to start a Disciple of Tzeentch army like yours!!! OMG it is soooo beautiful! Is there a way to see your conversions, painting job and patterns on a site? Keep your great work people you make this hobbie EPIC.
Badass. Not just the game, but Jinx's new look.
NIGHTHAUNT!!! YA'LL MADE MY WEEK SO MUCH BETTER COMPARED TO WHAT IT HAS BEEN
Yay! Spooky bois vs book bois! Loving your content. ❤
Katie seems a fabulously cool aos player. 🤗😍
Yo I'm so excited to watch this tonight!
Anther great video brightening my Wednesday.
Just any FYI, chicken is technically poultry as they are raised for their eggs, meat and feathers... I am full of useless knowledge.
Who painted all these? Absolutely phenomenal work and a joy to look at!
I'm getting ready to start my own Nighthaunt army and these are gorgeous! How did you get/make the bases?
Ooo bonus content
Nighthaunt painting guide pls from Fletcher pls
Seconded!
But what if there are ghost goats? Clearly that is superior to both goats and ghosts! ^^
Thank you.
Poor Katie , but well played for sure 👌
Its Beef and Venison because of Normans.
It is literally because of the French. Basically Nobles who lived in Normandy wanted to have what the French Nobility were having and ported it back to England with the names.
Sorry Chef, no meat secrets here :(
Beef, pork and lamb come from the Norman French of the lords that ate the food. Cow, sheep and pig come from the Anglo Saxon of the serfs that raised the animals. Chicken comes from Kentucky.
Knowledge instant : you eat beef, pork and these things because of french ;) when William the conqueror came from normandy, he brings his court and all speak french. Beef is boeuf, pork is porc.
AOS lovely :)
more aos!
Calling it now, hope my spooky boys win.
Because the peasant Anglo Saxons raised the animals and the rich noblemen spoke French.
You solved Tzeentch army's biggest issue, the giant ugly chicken model. That conversion on Lord of Change looks amazing.
was No rest for the wicked popped this game? didn't see it might of been huge for the lady
WoooOOOooo! OOOOoooooo! OOOoooooOOO! ooo!
MORE AOS GIVE ME MORE
13:29 “But so is murder.” Sure you’re not a member of the Daughters of Khaine? 😊
do you guys have a blades of khorne army? If so, id love to see them on the battlefield
Unfortunately we don't have enough to run them, as the changes to 4th Edition have meant we can't use Slaves to Darkness models alongside our Khorne Daemons anymore, which is how we use to run them
@@tabletoptactics can't wait for the Slaves to Darkness army to show Sigmar who's the boss, keep up the good work!
Tzeentch player asking for the secrets of beef … suspicious
I haven't watched this batrep yet but - does Chef have a Chaos Spawn in his army?
WOOOO AOS
Great game
purple sun won't you come and take awaaay the paaaiin!
Bird meat is called fowl 😅
And then there is the totally inexplicable “veal” !
Veal is from Latin vitulus (dim. vitellus) for calf. The English animal vs meat word pairs almost all follow the same pattern - animal noun is from a Germanic root and meat noun is Latinate.
Can't reroll a counter charge, a unit can only receive one command per phase.
I had a good day
Woooooo!
More AOS
You need to spend the for the charge reroll before you throw the first charge roll for the unit...
But wow awsome minitures
You actually do get to see the roll before you choose the charge re-roll. It's weirdly worded, but when you charge you roll the 'charge roll' as part of the declare step. Then you choose "Forward to Victory" as a reaction to the declared Charge ability. So you DO see the dice roll and THEN choose to react to it. Then you carry on to the effect of the Charge ability to move your models after all that.
It works out the same as in 3rd edition, it's just worded in a more confusing way :) Hope that helps.
@@DazeAoS It helped me so thank you!
@@kraye0789 You're very welcome! Glad it helped
all the culinary words like that things comes from French beef vs cow as pork vs pig as well as poultry and chicken. I assume its because the best British food is made by French chefs lol
You guys should make narative age of sigmar campaign
Yay !!! Tzeentch for the win !!!!
As an ex chef nyself id say its because chicken is just chicken like you said, lamb is lamb leg of lamb, lamb chop etc. pork is pork because theres, pork, bacon and ham from one animal, different techniques in cooking. Same with a cow, depends on the cut a beef joint, a sirloin steak etc. easier to just call the animal one name, now that's the reason why the cuts are named differently if you reverse the situation though, still no idea why they aren't beefs or porks, same with sheep once it becomes a sheep its called mutton then, probably ultimately ends with did we name it as an animal first or did we name it for it's meat lol
woah cool tatoo
Katie got a little fit.
I'll riddle you something else. Why are Hamburgers called HAMburbers. Like virtually all burgers are made of beef. Why don't we strictly call them beefburgers.
Because they are named after Hamburg
Has night haunt ever won one of these games???
Can’t destiny dice a countercharge
Also can’t reroll a countercharge with a command because you can’t issue two core commands in the same phase.
OOOOooooOOooOOOooo
James is right beef and pork have different cuts that's why it's not cow and pig 🐷
Are we getting some Old World Dwarves soon, or maybe even "shortly"?👀
Not any time soon, nor indeed even shortly. Old World is on the off-season here whilst we cover Age of Sigmar 🙂
That's a grudg'in!
The English are so clever
what is that kitbashed lord of change?? i cant find any details online about it!
Its a combination of Tahlia Vedras manticore, the normal LoC and a mindstealer Sphiranx
