- Voila! I took a plunge and embraced a new challenge and I’d love to share the results with you!
When curator Yasha Young approached me with the question if I wanted to make a large scale collage, my first thought was ‘how?’. Where was I supposed to start?
Although I didn't think it was possible at first, my wife Sanne convinced me to take the plunge. As soon as I opened up to it, the image of what the collage could become started to form in my head. From experience I know that if I can visualize something, then I can make it happen.
I am not easily pleased with a result, but with this piece the result is better than I had hoped for. It is full of energy, power, color and hope. While it is made of pieces of paper, it has my signature allover and its roots in graffiti.

Is there anything this guy can’t do? Amazing! Always pushing art to the next level and I’m excited to see where it’s headed. So inspiring. Does is one of the greatest artist of our time. Get familiar people.

In life not knowing how the abstractions will come together sometimes leads to beautiful catharsis. Fluctuations and explorations in abstract art mirror that process and the journey to it. Abstraction responds to life without letting it’s form be dictated and affirms freedom through discovering it’s own unique form. Just like we do as people. The colors and lines within clouds can be as beautiful or meaningful as and shape we can say they take. We can choose form through any imposition, conform, control or structure to remind us if the joy, truth and inspiration we sometimes loose around how to live, create and be free. We need to remember. So thanks to everyone that helps bring that reminder. We are free and proud and alive, even when we’re not sure.

Love the style. Use of form and composition are superb, and as per usual the colors are visually arresting. Big ups for taking his smaller work to a stunningly larger scale. A bold move that paid off in the overall impact of the piece.
Hot Take: I would also love to see him apply this technique to something less kitsch than paper. All these handsome shapes and use of color could really benefit from something with more weight like balsa sheeting. You can cut balsa with a blade, glue not screw it, bend and warp it, even get the deckle edge look, all without the odd build up that occurs with paper and glue. I would recommend using "yes" glue at the very least to prevent that buildup from occurring. His paper works hold up extremely well on a small scale, but on something larger it makes me question the integrity and execution, which is something I've never done with any of his works before. But without being able to see it in person my opinion is potentially disconnected from the reality of his execution. Regardless, excellent and innovative use of form and color as always. A great addition to the artistic arsenal of work that is Does.
