I had to learn to play the piano the old way in the 70s: Lots of drill, no emotion. Technique, scales, routine. Back then, they thought: Once you can play it, the spirit will come - or it won't. The muppets tought me that there was way more to music than a machine you turn on and off: Music belongs to life, it is fun, it is spontaneous, it survives mistakes, it connects people, it can be hilariously silly, sad, uplifting,... it is simply woven into the very fabric of our existance. This is why to me especially this song, if I dedicate it to the very experience of music, is a hymn to life itself, to being human.
I know Linda Rondstadt is famous, but she needs to be more famous.
I have very fond memories of this routine, it’s seriously beautiful
This is so sweet and lovely. I miss her voice.
Today I lost my shit in a museum, it was a video installation of Linda Ronstadt

The Muppets took their music very seriously...even though they had an awful lot of fun with it all.. .
