"a quick guide" - over an hour 😂 really love the vid. When I first listened to this arc i didn't get a lot of it but re-treading it recently has helped make light of Charley's continuity.
To be fair I think it is a testament to the 6th Doctor's personal character development. If Charley showed up before Evelyn, I think 6 would have been less patient with Charley and would have demanded an explanation right out of the gate. The fact 6 acknowledges the inconsistencies in Charley's stories and statements and yet doesn't press her until after she tried to pull "that stunt" in The Raincloud Man shows that he is willing to put up with her obfuscations as long she didn't do anything too reckless. Probably he was willing to wait for her to talk to him, but of course the incident in The Raincloud Man was the last straw for him and forced him to reevaluate.
Now if Charley met 7 instead of 6, I think 7 would be suspicious of course but keep it hidden. He would then set up a series of events in which Charley would reveal the truth. Charley was "lucky" that she got 6 instead of 7, since 7 when he gets serious is entirely different than either 6 or 8 especially when he doesn't have anyone to keep him in check.
The fact that the Condemned came out the same year as Silence in the Library makes Charley's charade with 6 hillarious to me. I mean I get that she knows that 8 never mentionee knowing her, as opposed to River Song's experiences, but it still amuses me.
I’d love to have had D I Menzies & 6 boxset because I really enjoy them. I utterly adored The Raincloud Man. No clue why but it just scratches an itch.
Phil Madoc also got to play an alternate version of the Master - aka the War King (of Gallifrey) - in Magic Bullet Productions' Faction Paradox series, which I love.
What i liked about the Charley/Mila arc is how it accidentally makes Zagreus from the McGann Doctor run more meta spoilers for Zagreus for those who did Charley & C.Baker Doctor before Charley & McGann The fact that each of the hologram scenarios, pretty much all the characters are voiced by the actors of Doctors and companions from each era (1950s Military base being all Davison Doctor era, Ancient Gallifrey being C.Baker Doctor era & Winke's Wonderland being McCoy Doctor era), with Charley being the audience surrogate for each, but with the ancient Gallifrey scenario, since Charley would later be a C.Baker Doctor companion, that sequence (beyond the BrigadierTARDIS (but like they fit in all era's)) is exclusively C.Baker Doctor themed. Like it's a coincidence but a good one all the same.
The Krotons are probably my favourite obscure villain. Unlike the primitive and rather thick Daleks they would have made a legitimate threat to the Time Lords. Not because they're technologically on a par but because their concept of time is so fundementally alien due to their indestructability. It would never occur to the Krotons to develop either relativistic or non relativistic time-travel because to them a 500 year trip at sub light to a nearby star is just a quick stroll to the shops.
I got brotherhood of the daleks like a week after originally watching this vid, and is probably one of my favorite dalek stories because of how insane it is, and would love to see more insane stories like thT
For the crowning achievement in 6 on Big Finish madness try Legend of the Cybermen, the last part in a 6 and Jamie trilogy (parts 1 and 1 are good tho not necessary to enjoy the madness).
@@DiamandaHagan I’ll have to check that out. I also got the curse of Davros which I’ve enjoyed. Also when you said Jamie, were you referring to McCrimmon?
@@DiamandaHagan that’ll probably be the next one I get. I’m attempting to watch the entire series including the big finish main Doctor stories and the SJA and torchwood spin offs
SCOUSE PRIDE! ngl i love how occassionally paul slips into his native accent during audios. it's very occasional but it happens in some audios when paul is clearly tired or bored by the story he'll slip into a slight scouse accent.
I love the Mila trilogy. I find it really underrated. I wish more people talked about it the way they do the 40th Anniversary Villains trilogy or the Sara Kingdom trilogy among others
The best thing about Dalek Red Flag is the Doctor's reaction. "Doctor: I... I have no words... I really have no words... Charley: It's all right for you, you didn't have to listen to them butcher 14 rounds of the Internationale"
i wrote my own fan story which is basically charley and 6's arc before i actually heard anythign about charley and 6. so i edned up accidentyally writing the same arc but with a differant ending. and then when i found out had to severely adjust it. granted im actually happier with the adjusted version, but it is impossible to be orignal in this franchise given it's been and done anything
@@DiamandaHagan that may be the moral, but the goal is to meet you in person some day. To shake your hand, get a picture with you, discuss the greatness that is classic who, and most importantly (to me, anyway), see the look on your face when I say “oh, my name is……Christopher.” 😊😊😊
The amount of secret people living in the TARDIS. You just know that there were multiple embarrassing scenes as someone's ghost floated into the bathroom at the wrong time.
It always bothered me that Charley made Six look kinda like a dunce with how he never, *ever* questions her further when she relentlessly makes strange comments that reflect upon her time spent with Eight. Very out of character for Six imo.
Totally unrelated, mistress! I am but a poor creature but I wish to raise to you Noah's Shark (2021)! Bill Zebub meets Hack Movies meets the Asylum in the ...thing that is a BillzeHackSharknado! I beg thee, mistress, look upon the works of Amazon Prime and despair~

Ah yes, the companion who traveled with a future Doctor before she traveled with 6 and also had her own spinoff audio.
Didn't know you could get a whole hour of content out of Charley and 6. I thought they only had a few stories together lol.

I need to start just grabbing these stories where I can find them and stuffing them into my earholes.
Sounds like a plan
I accidentally skipped over this video while listening to your quick guides. I guess you forgot to add it to the Quick Guide to Who playlist.
I wish DI Menzies could have become a regular companion, she worked off of Six so well.
Yeah, she even made a great faux female Doctor on the spot to cover his lies, having met the man only once.
I’m amazed DI Mendez hasn’t showed up in New Unit.
How in god's name did a Hagan Big Finish video slip by me?!? GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!

What random non human fictional characters would make good companions and what characters would make bad companions.
Would be v funny if six knew about Charlie all along but played dumb as a game for himself
Dalek socialist singing is not something I knew I wanted. I'm still not sure if I want it.
