    My heart aches for Melissa and what she went through. Melissa is the definition of sunshine. She is often seen laughing, singing, dancing and being goofy. She was suffering from emotional and physical abuse while working a physically and emotionally demanding job 15-18 hours a day. Yet she still radiated pure light and joy to those around her. Melissa has shown us how to have hope in the face of adversity and how to be optimistic in times of hardship. She is an incredible example strength. She is an inspiration! Melissa Benoist is Supergirl!

    If she names him she's accused of trying to ruin a man's life, if she doesn't name him she's accused of telling stories, or not protecting other women from his abuse.
    At least she's giving people enough to put the pieces together. Everyone seems certain Evan Rachel Wood's abuser is Manson. In truth Wood has said very kind things about the two people who seem to be our likely suspects since her relationships ended. Which just makes the whole thing very confusing.

    I think a lot people are missing the point of Melissa’s message. The point is less to destroy Blake Jenner and more to raise awareness of the matter so more people speak up. I am fairly sure the reason Melissa doesn’t name Blake is because she knows it will become a mudslinging match and there would be no proof to show Blake was guilty anyways.

    • @nikunjdixit1175
      @nikunjdixit1175 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @Galva Tron I don't really feel like this needs pointing out, but she can reach a lot more people by talking on Social Media rather than going to cops over something that can never be proven years after the fact. Now, if we were talking at the moment of the abuse incident or in the immediate aftermath, that would be a different matter entirely.

      Galva Tron did you even proofread that before posting it? Raise awareness of something by secretly reporting it after it won’t have any affect?

    • @RainbowPawPrint
      @RainbowPawPrint 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Galva Tron If you are referring to Melissa, then you have really missed the point. She was describing what SHE experienced and it is her every right to do so. In fact, it is great that she finally feels comfortable enough to tell her story because many victims of domestic violence suffer in silence and are too scared or ashamed to speak up. Yes, the abuser should be charged, but in order to make more people confident about reporting their abuser, it is important to raise awareness about the whole problem. Domestic violence needs to be taken more seriously both by the general public and by the police and courts in order to acheive change.
      In Melissa’s case, it has already been a few years since she was last abused (I’m assuming) which means that it would be harder to prove her case in court. Not impossible, but harder. She probably did not mention Blake Jenner by name in her video for legal reasons. If he hasn’t been officially charged, he could potentially even file a libel suit against Melissa for calling him an abuser, if she mentioned his name. Even if he really did abuse her, he might win the case if the abuse can’t be proven. It’s awful, but true.
      But Melissa’s video won’t just help other victims gain their confidence, but it might also prevent other girls from becoming Blake’s future victims. If he is the abuser (and it certainly seems like he is!), then all women should stay far away from him. Men who abuse women do not change.

    • @bbsy1
      @bbsy1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dragonfly91 I assume you don’t agree with his stance of assuming she is fine because of appearances or that all that is necessary for him is counseling?

      @Luc Collin just cause I think this made you feel wrong let me tell you that I work in a non profit that help domestic abused victims to find a safe place to go. So, yes is a video, yes it's only people talking but you don't know how many boys and girls came forward because they see people don't react bad to some person they admire that had a similar experience (I know every relationship is its own world and no 2 abusers are the same). Positive reactions to the victims help other victims to find the way to heal through sharing and to come forward and to leave or at least ask for help.

    Melissa identified herself as a survivor of Domestic violence or IPV (Intimate Partner Violence). So people who claim to support her need to stop referring to her as a victim. Thinking like that stops people coming forward by revealing the painful truth. She got through this and built a new life by being a survivor and that is how she wants us to think of her. She's earned it.

    Blake Jenner has been cast in Richard Linklater's adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along, which is going to be in production for 20 years in the same way that Boyhood was in production for 12 years. He has already shot some scenes for it, so if it is him I imagine they will want to recast the role and reshoot those scenes pretty quickly.

      Yeah, even putting aside morality, and looking at it purely from a business perspective, if this man is abusive, there's no telling what else could come out about him in the next 20 years. It would be very unwise to keep him on.

    This timestamp is the problem with society. I'm not saying Blake should not be reprimanded. Being abusive is....horrible and sickening. But the question is, "What is the end goal?" I'm not trying to fight or bad mouth. But is the goal to exile every person that does wrong with no chance of redemption? Are they immediately judged without given a chance to change? Or are we judge, jury and executioner. Just saying.

      Andrew Bristow I’m sorry but abuse of anyone is done for control and the people doing the abuse lost the right to be given sympathy or the benefit of the doubt when they commit the act of abuse. Especially in recurring incidents which given that this seems to be someone she has known for many years and she has proof of it, it probably is. Any notion that this person has any remorse is laughable. I’m all for fair judgment but his actions don’t warrant giving him a second chance. There are certainly cases like that, but this is not one of them, and the fact that she wasn’t specific about who it was should tell you that the end goal has nothing to do with her abuser and everything to do with getting over her trauma.

      @andrewbristow2817 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      josh zdanowicz I’m sorry but either you didn’t understand my comment or didn’t read it fully. I’m not talking about the person abused. I’m not discussing about the mindset of the abuser. I’m talking about how the person who abused should be exiled from Hollywood. The notion made is that you cannot make mistakes or attempt to right a wrong.

    • @joshz2491
      @joshz2491 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Bristow I understand your comment and I don’t think anyone is saying mistakes cannot be forgiven but there are cases where they absolutely should not be because it excuses terrible behavior and that’s why my larger point my point still stands. People who routinely commit abuse or any act similar no matter what walk of life forfeit the right to be given the chance to redeem themselves because contrary to what a lot of people think self control or lack there of is a choice.

    • @andrewbristow2817
      @andrewbristow2817 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      josh zdanowicz You said routinely. Is it routinely? Has this person gotten help? But I realize it is what it is. As I said, judge, jury and executioner and we decide what is a suitable punishment.

    • @joshz2491
      @joshz2491 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Bristow Evidence points to it being routine because it is someone she has known for several years, in one time cases I agree with you but otherwise I believe people should not be given a pass or second chance for inexcusable behavior.

    Like Melissa, like Supergirl, but this Collider video is filled with virtue signaling and cancel culture ethics absent a proper adjudication of the facts by a neutral arbiter. We've heard one narrative and Collider irresponsibly identifies the alleged abuser, demands his career be over, and assigns absolute truth to everything Melissa says without investigating the story or hearing the other side.
    This talking point of 'women have nothing to gain by speaking out, therefore their accounts must regarded as factually true and irrefutable' is simply not true. It is impossible to speak to the motivations of all people, no matter their gender. And it is impossible to make blanket statements about the accuracy of allegations without fact-checking. Which is why crimes (such as violence towards others) should be investigated and remediated by legal professionals in the criminal justice system, and not by opinion makers on social media outlets.
