    That’s a really cool lock, I love the way the core can be removed, even if it’s a tricky job. I can imagine it be equally as tricky to put back together. Great video. 👍

    They made this model for job boxes and construction equipment. Certain measurements call for a master no 5 but we know they're crap. Abus makes this to fit that size need. It's actually so awesome they did it for us security concerned construction workers.

    Very interesting lock there, and nicely opened. I do enjoy seeing what's inside the locks, it's where the magic sits, so the extra time doesn't bother me.

    Nice pick and gut :) I believe I recently picked that same model. I love ABUS locks, they're so distinctly talkative with their spools.

    I am trying to imagine the first time you would gut this lock and suddenly springs , pins and confusion for a few moments. Really well picked, super quick too. Nice of Abus to provide the self ejecting cap to reveal the locking pawl : )

    What a nightmare to gut. Would loved to have seen your face when first attempting to disassemble one of these locks if you didn't know.... springs and pins everywhere! :-)

    I've got one coming in today all the way from Spain (I'm in Canada). Looking forward to picking it, and hesitantly looking forward to gutting it (thanks to this video).
    I love Abus locks so Im extra glad for the new addition to my collection, these look really neat!

    Just got one of these in used condition from Amazon. Came from Australia to the U.S., and it appeared to be brand new. I don't think I'll be gutting this one...

    Nicely picked but wow is it ever different gutting that thing. Definitely looks like it wouldnt be all that much fun reassembling it. Very neat design and interesting that pin 1 is serrated and not standard as they usually do. Thanks for sharing this :)

    If I only would've watched the video few seconds longer before starting to gut my lock 😅 quite a mess with the pins. But not so difficult after all now that I know how to do it. Thanks for the tips 😊. Btw I have Abus 4/45, but seems to be identical, probably little bit different size. And these are in markets here in Finland.

    I have a few of your check pins sets and the scrooge sets as well. I'd love watching you pick those. I as lso have a few munition pins sets from sparrows. And I simply love them all. Possibly u can do a video series of these pins in locks. Just an idea. Have a great day

    Wow I’ve never seen an Abus 5/40 before it’s a cool lock. What a curious design they’ve chosen for gutting/rekeying, but kind of looks fun.
    Haha I was just thinking I’d have to match up the brushed finish on that plug and then you said the same🤭 Hope you got it back all lined up🙂👍🔓🔑

    That was not what I expected for the core, was expecting more like the 72/30 that also has the pin that holds the core in but at least the core is all one piece and not the gut as you go like this. Still an interesting little lock. Might have to find one to play around with myself.

    Kind of a strangely designed padlock -- perhaps some automated assembly processes to build it fast and cheap.

    I love those picks but they have been discontinued. You can still find some but not complete sets. Some are in .023 and some are in .031 I think the .031 would be too thick for anything really

    I would bet good money that there is a special Abus tool to depress that pin, and retain the pawl at the same time. The pawl slipped, acting like an impact hammer, popping the plug out. Not really a security problem, just odd. You may have to re-brush the lock, to avoid insanity.

      It covers the hole used to assemble the lock... I’m not sure it’s meant to ever come out after 🤷‍♂️
