@angie2129 The trace mineral molybdenum turns sulfur (and sulfite) into sulfate. And sulfate helps remove salicylates/phenols.

thanks! this is one of the best, most concise videos on the subject! my key symptom was my eczema. I had noticed that it was diet related, to have a flair up, and once someone pointed me that direction, I made the connection that many herbs and spices, olive oil, wine and some fruits and veggies would worsen it, which was confusing since you hear that you should eat more of those things.
I also have found that making water kefir, using pears, cilantro and limes in the second ferment, as well as using kefir-fermented garlic, has helped a lot. bloating is way down and skin is almost 100% today! in case that can help someone .

Wow! I thought that I was gluten intolerant, all of a sudden at the age of 52, I had not drank a beer in about a year, drank some beer and my body freaked out! I had dermatitis, welps, hives, eczema overnight! Saw a dermatologist, he was a loser, did me no good. Well I quit eating gluten, it was not getting better, I was ready to leave the earth, I could not handle the constant itching, rashes, etc. My husband found salicylate intolerance, so we changed my diet to see if it was the cause, and bingo, it was it. I love grapes, well that is a big fat no for me, one of the itchiest foods, same with my daughter. Now that I know my issue and it may lead to more issues, I am staying away from foods with salicylates, I have pretty much went back on a Keto diet. Things are getting better, not perfect, but I feel I need to learn more! Epsom Salt baths will be my nightly routine! As a child, my parents made us soak once a week in Epsom Salt. I had just forgot about it. Thank you for this info, even though some was over my head!

I've had salicylate problems for forty years and never had an Epsom salt bath in my life. So far, I see no reason why anyone would need one. I live on an almost completely carnivore diet and am very healthy that way. Considering the salicylates are fruits and vegetables, I don't suffer anymore and am seventy-one now.

Anyone else have the same symptoms? Fast heart rate, swelling in the throat, feeling dizzy, shortness of breath? I thought it was lactose or gluten, but I’ve been not eating that for a few weeks now, I suspected salicylic acid a few weeks ago as I’ve had few episodes when I’ve been off the gluten and lactose and thought it could be my face wash which contains salicylic acid and my back cream, so decided to throw it. Well I’ve had a few episodes since but didn’t realise it was in foods, which I’ve had today raspberries, grapes, and blueberries, also spaghetti Bolognese which contains tomatoe. Seems like the only option I could be allergic to, I think I can handle it in small amount as I have blueberries in the morning with porridge.

Blueberries are high salicylate. My daughter suffers skin problems, and i got her iff dairy and gluten, and she was doing well. Then i gave her blueberries and she flared up. She flared from chicolate aswell, but not from sugar sweets. So i figured it must be the cocoa in the chocolate rather than the sugar. The cocoa and blueberry reactions both led me to suspect salicylate. Less than a week on dairy/gluten AND salicylate free and her skin is closed and healed iver. She went from scratching all night and day, to jot at all now. Using detmasilk clothing too now

Have you heard of salicylate intolerance symptoms starting the first few minutes of an Epsom salt bath but only if the water is very hot? Symptoms last several hours afterwards: headache, rapid heart rate, brain fog, fatigue, nasal congestion. Would you recommend continuing with the baths in this case in hopes of decreasing sensitivity? Just go slowly?

    • @ByronHerbalist

That sounds more like a histamine/mast cell reaction instead. Hot temperatures can trigger this reaction!
