This trip loops around the downtown and the surrounding areas in Carlisle, going along High Street (US 11) in both directions. Several state highways as well as US 11 converge in Carlisle. Downtown Carlisle is an attractive bigger small town downtown with specialty shops and eateries. The downtown and the surrounding areas are I believe considered to be a historic preservation district. At approximately 7:20, Dickinson College is on the left side of High Street. Carlisle and the surrounding area on the West Shore of the Susquehanna River and the Cumberland Valley has always been prosperous. That area has a good employment mixture of colleges, two government installations, health care and distribution facilities near the intersection of two major interstate highways along with light manufacturing and farming. This trip was in Cumberland County.
