- My neighbor's car rolled out of his driveway and crashed my van, into my truck, and onto the tow hitch. After talking with him, he told me his uncle forgot to put on the parking brake. I know the angle is a bit awkward, but this is what works best for us so there aren't any blind spots from all of our cameras. We also have limited spots to place the cameras, so we catch what we want, and don't catch what we don't want.
I see that your vehicles are like mine, they get into trouble when you leave them alone.

Idk why but this reminded me of the time my sister backed our dad’s new Porsche through the closed garage door. She forgot to open the garage before stealing our dad’s dream car which we were barely allowed in as a passenger. She definitely didn’t have permission to drive it at 16 years old.

A neighbor backed into my classic car then denied it. A camera got the whole thing for the police. That's when he admitted to it. His wife asked why we have camera's. I said because people lie cheat and steal, which one are you?
I have held a full UK driving licence for many years.
No matter what (Manual) vehicle I am driving, when I leave it, I apply the parking brake (Hand brake) and I ALWAYS, but ALWAYS, leave it it gear.............just in case!
Some time ago, the "just in case" prevented one situation from occurring.
It's funny that you mention that because I have two cars one is a manual one is an automatic, and I always set the parking brake whether I'm driving the stick or not

Can I ask why you leave it in gear? I'm still learning and was told to put it in neutral when parking.
Took me a few rewinds but it dawned on me that the car was empty! I was like why would someone do that and then just sit in the middle of the street?? Saw that little bobbing dot of white and all of a sudden a kid? pops up and walks away. Didn't know if he did something to the car or what. Thank God he wasn't playing right in front of your cars! Kid was in the black car parked behind the white one across the street. you can see the car door open just before the head shows.

When I was a kid, a landscaper's truck had the parking brake cable snap. The truck hit our house, just barely missed the gas meter.

That could have been dangerous, a kid could have been playing like kids do sitting on the ground and that person didn’t secure the car in park and didn’t apply the parking brake. Or maybe it was a manual transmission and they left it in neutral and no park brakes on.
It was insanely lucky because there WAS a kid!!! Not even 6 feet away!!! S/he climbed out of a car parked on the far side of the road and walks up the stairs to the house across the street.

Well at least they backed out straight.
Many times the weight of a vehicle alone can overcome the compression the engine provides. This is why leaving it in gear(on a standard transmission) is not enough to ensure it will stay in place. You need to set the parking/emergency brake also.
No matter what weight the vehicle is, if you leave it in the opposite gear to which way the vehicle is facing, it will NOT roll.
If parked on a downward slope, select reverse and if facing uphill, select first gear. It will not roll, no matter the weight.
@@memyself7413 this is not factual since it wont hold in either gear on my very steep driveway unless you use the ebrake.
Many years ago I was getting ready for work when I heard a bang! I looked out my bedroom window and see my neighbor (& ex-\boyfriends) car had rolled out of his driveway, across the road and slammed into the (county owned) fire plug on my lawn!
I went over & knocked vat the door. Danny was in the house but had headphones on. His car was now blocking n the street so I just kept knocking which made his dog, Sandy, start to bark. He finally came to the door & I said his car had hit the fire plug & was now blocking the street!
His car was dented but the fire plug was fine!!
If not for the fire plug, it would have hit my house!!

Cameras around the house and in the car are an investment. Whatever happens, whether it's your fault or someone else's you have the it on "tape" And always turn your wheels to the curb, set your brake, AND put it in gear! 👍

Looks like the time my 5 yo sister got into our family station wagon and the same exact thing happened. That was back before you needed the key on in the ignition and the brake pedal depressed to move the transmission out of park.

that's a handbrake failure, red car is likely a manual, this is why you leave the car in first on an uphill and reverse on a downhill when you park a manual transmission car, if your handbrake fails the transmission should prevent it from rolling

They've hit my car previously.... so yes. I bought cameras shortly after my old van was totalled in a hit and run. Luckily the person that hit my old van admitted guilt later on, but that's not usually the case.
We never know what will happen when we're not around to see it happen that's why we have cameras that's what that person was saying

Manual car, it seems the parking brake failed and rolled downhill. I guess that is why they say to engage a gear when parking a manual. Like first gear.

The time I pulled on my handbrake and it rolled forward, the pin fell out the cable fell onto the floor, the wire clip fell off months ago and than at that moment I knew what it was, luckily it didn't happen later than it did and it was just luck.

I did the same thing in my parents VW Beetle, playing with the handbrake and the stick shift, got out and watched the car roll back and across a 2 lane street into a telephone pole. this baby did the same with the two vehicles as seen in this security video.
The kid had nothing to do with it. My neighbor's are just simple with very poor driving skills.

It's a wide angle camera so if I turn it, I'll catch the side of my house, the neighbors house, and miss part of the driveway. Everyone keeps telling me I can flip the video in the TH-cam editor, I just haven't figured out how to yet. I guess I won't have a future in video editing. 😄

oh lord... was that vehicle empty 🤔 or did the break not work... or was someone dumb and left it in neutral... something is going on because I didn't see break lights but I also didn't see anyone get into or out of that red car... and after it hit your cars it seemed to bounce into the middle of the road.... and that driveway is not elevated straight up so it wouldn't just roll down in the park position on its own.... someone definitely doesn't know how to park their own car.... smh I hope they have insurance!!!
also.... most cars won't allow you to remove the key from the ignition unless the car is in park... so this is troubling to me.... did they mess with their car in an illegal manner or did they just get out with it in gear and still on... ya know..

That sucks for both parties involved in this cause neither one did anything wrong . This was simply a mechanical fault and is hard to catch it before it happens . Hope the insurance company's paid or assisted with both repair bills .
Seems.almost like a fee cars arrived at that house to grab something and the red car wasn't in park or emergency brake on so ot rolled out and into the car but than you see a passenger of the dark car get out after it sits in the road and walk to the door so what type of dealers live across the street from you would be the big question.

THATS WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL.... most vehicles won't allow you to remove the key from the ignition if you are **NOT** in park.... so either they left the keys in it and knew it wasn't safe..... or they don't know how to use their own vehicle... I just hope they have insurance... smh..

There were certain model Fords, Mercury's & Lincolns if the vehicle was on and in park, the transmission would automatically on occasion into reverse. Ford knew about this problem, but not until there were deaths and serious injuries did Ford put in a recall.. never buy Fords products. 👍

Probably not much cosmetic damage but possibly transmission damage on the parked cars.
It seems to me the car is a manual transmission and was parked with the e-brake, unfortunately wasn't put in gear as well and gravity did what gravity does🤣. I've been there so I speak from experience fortunately in my case the driveway is shorter and no harm was done other than having my car in the middle of the street🤣

That’s why you leave a manual in gear when u shut it off. I made this habit the first week I got my first manual.
The kid was sitting inside the black car. You can see the door open, and they get out.
Maybe a “Ring” doorbell up there so you don’t have to sit up there keeping watch over the children. You have to let them go sometime you know!
That's more common than you think just a little accident nothing serious and no one was hurt
