I perfectly got the TGV pun Kristian 👍 TGV is Train Grande Vitesse in French which is translated into High Speed Train. It’s the model of trains used to link big cities in France. Keep training guys, your are our European pride 👍

funniest closing statement! haha this Facility definately has a no frills/Rocky/dungeon/pain cave/East block training vibe to it. No color, no sun, no home cooked food, no home gym with airconditioning and flat screen, no smiling people in the neighbourhood recognising you and cheering you on your workout.....theres no way you are facing the 'why am I doing this?' question on race day, because you quickly find answers in a facility like this all day or you quit.
Kristian giving Lionel som proper cred is nice to see. I can’t believe Lionel even finished the race without bottles, I don’t think he could have done that with his previous training regime
@@strahinjastojanovic260 He lost his energy bottle in the first 10km of the bike. It had his sugars (syrup) and salts in it. At the first aid station he found the Gatorade bottles didn’t fit in his holder and would fall out. So he wasn’t able to store fluids on his bike and could only take them at the bike aid station (which is what Kristian is referring to with his speeds down spiking at each aid station). He was also taking a couple the race gels at the aid station (Maurten) to survive but didn’t have his own nutrition and couldn’t follow his nutrition plan….so he laid off the bike to conserve energy and decided to give what he had on the run.
The Norwegian train consists of a great group of athletes - what has impressed me about this squad is their down to earth approach; - happy to reply to questions with detailed answers since the day they came on social media. Even when they started winning big they carried on doing the same. Same for the coaches. The Norwegain squad; Joe Skipper and LS are box office stars for the PTO! They are transforming the sport - brilliant.
Joe skipper is not even in the same country code. Impossible to compare him to the Norwegians. It’s like bafanna bafanna beating Germany in the soccer World Cup. Ain’t happening bud.

Instead of Ronnie Coleman screaming for hours, I listen to Kristian and Gustav running. No joke, I was drafting on my last race and all I could think of was Kristian saying " I'm on Gustav's feet" and it gave me power for the last sprint.

Mikal thank you for the great content. Having spent time watching Gustav and Kristian I definitely get the feeling that the Norwegian training seems to be very run focused, I've seen hill work by both Kristian and Gustav and followed previous run efforts by them. Also, it shows heavily in the results where Gustav and Kristian get excellent run splits. Is the Norwegian training biased towards the run?
Mikal, curious, do you guys pay attention to when you take the lactate samples after the set? Of course it depends on VLaMax etc but It clears fairly well if you are under “threshold” and can affect the result if taken 30-60 seconds after you get done. Great content guys.
Hello, norwegian do have the culture of taking lactate samples from back in the nineties. I think that for testing/controling at these intensities you do not have to be so precise (it's just a control, not a lab test to plot scientifically). Plus, it's the big picture, what does it change if you read 2.1 vs 2.2 ?
Ali had to slow at the end of the race in Oceanside when it counted.. I’m putting these two at the top for St. George 🎉 I’m sure all of that hard work will pay off 💯
Hello Mikal Iden, would you mind to explain the threshold lactate numbers? They're adapted to altitude so the numbers of lactate are low than sea level but does 2,2 mmol (from Kristian) and 1,4 mmol (from Gustav) are between their respective LT1 and LT2?
... so there are actually some (tri)-athletes getting under the skin of especially Kristan.... interesting :-D... altitude seems to be pumping emotions. GREAT STUFF!!! May the BEST athlete win in St. George and not the best chatter.
@@mikaliden9967 I think it is fantastic how the (positive) tension is growing. One can feel how outstanding the race in St.George will be.
