    Bought a set, they are great to use, great to look at, very light weight, easy to swing, feel very good. For a long time my bad shot pull hook. Hit my first 30 balls with 5 iron, all straight or draw recorded on my flight scope. I am 73 male 13 handicap.

      Great to hear Roger, they're a really interesting set of irons, obviously out of the price bracket for most golfers.

    Would be interesting to see a comparison video against its predecessor, Taylor Made Ti Bubble 2 irons which basically uses the same design with a complete titanium head infused with Tungsten to create a really low centre of gravity which allows very high trajectory shots for players who needs the help.

    These guys nailed it. I’ve always wanted to play p790 but didn’t have the game for it. The distance irons have no spin. I couldn’t stop the ball from going off the back if it hit the middle of the green. These are exactly what I have been looking for. High launch, high spin, and forgiveness without looking like a shovel. Nippon shaft is very smooth. Not a TM fan but this is good stuff. But the cost...I got it anyways as a nice birthday gift to myself.

      Thanks for the feedback Bogey Golfer, you've got yourself a lovely set of irons. We're not jealous at all.

    Hi Simon great work I would like to see these tested by someone who is a mid / high handicap and see what the figures are then. A very expensive club which could improve someone’s game !

      Thanks Andrew.
      From our experience they'll perform very well at more average swing speeds. How Neil 'overpowers' the shaft and creates a ton of spin says a huge amount. At more average speeds they become a strong lofted iron that will flight and spin shots like a much more traditional lofted model. Which is really difficult to achieve using a heavier steel body/chassis.

    For me the surprise was the launch angle was higher than the regular P790 despite being 2* of stronger loft

      Well spotted. That's where having such a lightweight chassis and massively heavy tungsten weight plays a role in getting a strong lofted iron to launch like a regular lofted model.

    The time and effort a lot of golfers spend on golf are a lot more costly than a set of clubs.

    How did the dispersion compare to the P790? Does the titanium make a difference and one that justifies the higher price tag?

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't tend to look at dispersion too much, as it's really only a reflection of how well a person has had that particular product on a particular day.
      We've seen instances of a pro hitting shots into a 5 yard dispersion circle with one club, one day, but not being able to keep shots in a 25 yard radius, a week later with the same club. So dispersion can be very misleading.
      Instead we tend to look more at drop off's in ball speed and carry distance (longest - shortest shots and fastest to slowest), because these are more likely to represent the results golfers see on a regular basis.
      For this test the P790 posted a drop-off of 4 mph in ball speed and 7 yards in carry distance. Where the others combined were 4 mph and 11 yards.
      Does that help?

      Today's Golfer so the Ti produces more consistent outcomes by the sound of it?
      Detailed reply much appreciated 👍

      @todaysgolfer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@briantreadwell2206 We've only really tested the Ti for a single day Brian (samples are very difficult to get hold of), but yes that's what early results point to. It's what you'd expect to find from such a lightweight chassis for sure.
      Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated.

    No Callaway Epic Forged? Seems the logical club to put it up against.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have tested the Epic Forged before Cameron, and having a further test planned looking purely at premium priced irons, so at this point it made sense to keep the pair separate.

    • @cameronloveless1751
      @cameronloveless1751 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Today's Golfer but the P790Ti is a premium priced iron. So you’re saying this was the test against “cheaper” options? And you’ll do another comparing the Ti to Epic Forged, PXG etc down the track?

    If they are aimed at the mid-high handicapper then i'd like so see the numbers someone with a slower swing than neil creates.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment.
      Completely understand your point. Problem is experience has shown us that testing with mid-high handicappers makes it very difficult to get meaningful data to allow for accurate comparison.
      Essentially you end up evaluating the golfers performance with each club, not the club itself. Which essentially is very misleading.

    • @cameronloveless1751
      @cameronloveless1751 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could get Neil to swing slower, at a speed resembling the player who might play this. That way you can maintain decent strikes

    I see NO advantage to these irons at all, except to Taylormade's bottom line, and you being paid off by them to boost a product that is in no way better than the others being tested......SHAME!!!

    • @todaysgolfer

      Completely respect everyone is entitled to their opinion Keith. Someone probably said exactly the same thing when the first titanium drivers appeared on the scene too.
