I just got a 350 dollar helmet two weeks ago. Using it mostly for motocross and trail stuff. But I went and got this one for my road riding and it’s easily the most comfortable quiet helmet I’ve ever owned.
Wow what a great helmet review. I've been watching your reviews for years and must say you are doing a great service to the Moto community overall. The camera action is fantastic - lighting is above average - well spoken of course. Great team work over there.
I recently purchased my HJC i90 from my local motorcycle store, and im impressed by the fit, quality and price. Due to my lower back length dreads, I had to get a 5XL helmet. Out of the very few 5XL helmets available in the store, the i90 fit the best. For those with a larger head or long thick hair, this helmet is a winner.
Just got an HJC i90 for £200, came with pinlock insert. Some guy on Reddit is convinced it's a snowmobil helmet, I'm confident it's just about right for my Honda crf300l.
This is my very first helmet for my very first motorcycle harley sportster 1200 XL and I wear glasses and I have to day this is the perfect helmet is like to have the option of no wind in my face or wind in my face quickly grab a snack or some water its very good and noise cancelation, comfortable, I love the visor this is a great first modular helmet
I bought an HJC I90 ..I love it very quite compared to my other HJC. the visor covers most of your face. the bad part is it frogs up at lower speeds. I also bought the comm. system for it. I love it. my bike is very loud an people can hear me talk. . the bad thing is the sound quality it not that great
Great review. Thanks! I am currently considering this one as my next brain bucket. 9:16 - So it has less than stellar ventilation in the forehead/brow area. If the very best ventilation is important to someone, then during the heat of the day, when the sun is highest and the temps are soaring, it occurs to me that a rider can just drop the smoked visor, and lift the front of the helmet. This should bring instant, unbeatable ventilation. Besides, the happiest bikers always have a bug or two splatted on their teeth.
Due to the design of the helmet and the fact most every modular uses a drop down inner shield there will be some compromise in the ventilation. This is a trade off for the convenience offered by a modular. If ventilation is your priority you really need a full face helmet as this category offers the models with the most airflow. - Van
Got the i90 Davin and noise is minimal while riding. I just installed the 10b in it but have yet to ride with it to see how it does while riding. Great review and thank you for the helpful tips on getting the 10b installed easily and quickly!
Watched a bunch of reviews and your helmet reviews are by far the best and most informative. Now I’m just debating between i70 and i90. Anything of note that would sway me one way. I do wear glasses and see both fit them fine. Also if I mainly just want it for music should I get the Sena 10b or can I try to fit this helmet on with AirPods Pro
Have an i70 and just ordered an i90. Glasses work well with the i70 and I expect the i90 will be the same. Ordered the i90 because I think it will help keep me cooler in the summer, at stops, in central AZ. As for a bluetooth communicator, I use the Cardo Freecom 2+ with no issues (with the i70).
@@bobfallis I mainly just want something for listening to music that’s why I was curious about squeezing the helmet on with airpods but now that I think about it getting into an accident with them in the ears probably not the best thing lol. I’m only using it on my Ebike so do t really need an intercom or anything. I think I’m just going to go with the i90. Just have to pick color
@@justinconnor7643 I use mine mainly for music as well, along with the occasional gps directions. Have tried numerous types of earbuds and they were either horribly uncomfortable, or a pain in the ass when putting the helmet on or taking it off.
The i90 is a modular and the i70 is a full face with a drop down inner shield. Personally I prefer a full face like the 70. For the airpods I would suggest ordering the helmet and trying it on with them. If they fit no reason not to use them. Thanks for watching! - Van
We have had a couple of people request optional liners for this helmet and are adding these to the site now. Here is a link to the category where they will be once this is done: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/hjc-modular-helmets/
Great review thanks. HJC now has the C91 modular also. I can't see what difference is between c91 and i90 except the i90 is more expensive. Can you advise if it is worth spending extra money for i90? Thanks
I have not seen the C91 in person so I am not able to really say. The i90 is a nice lid and with HJC the $50 price difference is typically worth the investment as you will get a better helmet. - Van
I have a older HJC CL MAX modular helmet, it's a medium. I'm wanting to get a HJC i90 but the sizing chart makes zero sense it does not show the sizing for the i90. Would I also wear a medium in the HJC i90?
I currently have the HJC CL-17 for 3 years. Looking to upgrade, is the HJC i90 a good upgrade from it? My commute is mainly highway (45 miles one day). Considering Module... not sure about the noise on highway.
I would not expect much more noise (it any) with the i90. HJC added material to the neck roll area to minimize this. For me the i90 would be a bit of an improvement over the CL-17 with the added modular feature of course. - Van
Sportbike Track Gear thank you so much for the reply Van! It helps to hear your direct feedback and of course the great detailed review on the helmets and other gear!
Got this helmet in size M but found it just TOO snug a fit causing me intense pain & discomfort in my jaw and cheeks after about 30 mins of wearing it. All my previous helmets have been size M and I've never had this problem before
Super important you take a measurement before ordering. I am 58cm and the medium worked well for me. Also important to note head shape can vary which impacts the fit for sure. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear I fit this helmet today. The helmet says 58-59cm on the shell of the large, but me being 58.5 will probably still be going for the medium. It is rather snug, pushing my cheeks in quite a bit (really nice beyond that), but within a week or so, it should thin out a bit. My concern is getting the large that fits so nice and then a month or so down the line, it starts sitting a bit too loose.
Is there any way to tighten the visor. I like riding with the visor up or locked a little bit open to get extra air flow and the visor closes quickly and won't stay open. Any recommendations.
Where can I get the red pull strip on the double D rings? Mine doesn't have one and its kinda hard to remove helmet trying to separate the rings with my fingers.
End of the day they are very similar. That said the i90 is the newer model of the two and HJC is continually improving their helmets. I would go with the i90. - Van
I would recommend taking a measurement still and using their size chart. That said the RPHA 70 does run a little large so there is a chance you will need a medium in the i90 to get the same fit. - Van
HJC I90 VS HJC CL MAX 3.... ?which has better feel and air flow? Thanks what would be your pick around this price? Also is there a modular without integration drop down shade?
I have not seen a modular without the drop down inner shield. That seems to be a super popular feature with modular helmet wearers. The i90 is a new model for HJC and I would expect it to perform better than the CL Max 3. Hard to give you a good answer on the ventilation as I have not ridden in these helmets. - Van
Most people buy helmets that are 1-2 sizes too big. You need to take a measurement and check the size chart before you buy a helmet. I am 58cm on the money and take a medium. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear oh I’m sure your wearing the right thing for you I’m just surprised. I wear a large in most brands but some I wear an XL.
