- Sharing my finished Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery Huswif or Hussif Needle Roll. #roxysjournalofstitchery
Plus lots more ideas you can add to your needle roll for future projects. I’ve had such fun working on this super sized needle roll and incorporating much more than just needles!
In this video I will also share a second version for creating vintage style covered buttons and how you can add these to quilt clips to make an attractive closure, clasp or brooch. Here’s a link to my earlier video where I shared the other method for making covered buttons:
• DIY easy no kit fabric...
This is such a fun slow stitch of slow stitching project and I have loved using all vintage materials and linens including lovely embroidered pieces, sourced from op shops, thrift stores or charity shops while on holidays in Alpine Victoria.
With thanks to Rachel @roxycreations679 and Sarah@roxycreationsbysarah for hosting such a fun project.
Cheers,
Christine

So happy you like this and have discovered the joy of covered buttons 🤗 cheers, Christine
Stunning Huswif - that lace cover is amazing and I think my favorite piece. Love the altered kilt pins too. You’re full of amazing ideas. ❤️
I love that lace piece too as I’ve never found a calendar type lace before so I’m happy I could use it in its entirety in this piece as it will preserve it as well. Cheers, Christine
Dear Christine, I love your huswiff❣️ so much detail. 😊 You have 😊 forgotten nothing, it is a portable sewing room❣️👏🏼🥰 I am going to look for those looped kilt pins I have to make some covered buttons …they are lovely. Thanks 🌻🦋
Thank you Trish - it’s amazing how many ideas kept popping into my mind while creating this. I had to keep grabbing pen and paper 😆 I hope you can find some lily pins as they do make a lovely little closure or brooch with the covered buttons. Cheers, Christine
Your Hussif is so fantastic. I love the lace covering you found while thrifting and how you adapted it for your project as well. I’m just at the finishing end to my Hussif and looking forward to the April project.👏👏👏
Thank you Ingrid - such a fun project and I feel very lucky with what I managed to find while thrifting. Looking forward to the April project too! Cheers, Christine 🤗
Thank you for the great ideas! Love the size of your needle roll.
Thanks so much - I always need lots when travelling so this is perfect and it’s now hanging up on my craft room as it’s going to be an easy way to access all those bits I need regularly 🤗

Love your covered buttons ❤
Thank you Karen - they really are addictive - and now with the addition of kilt pins!
What an amazing lot of ideas for your huswif, it looks wonderful. Thank you for showing us how to cover buttons, I have been wanting to try it myself and the pins are a super idea too, thanks again. Love Bella xx
Thanks so much and I enjoyed watching some of your videos last night too 🤗
Thank you so kind. Xx
This is gorgeous !
Thank you dear Cathie - such fun to make it! 🤗
I love your huswif, you are so inventive ❤
Thank you - that is very kind and means a lot from a fellow creative spirit 🤗
The huswif is spectacular! The way you have used that lacey table runner is genius! Love all the different pockets! The brooches are lovely, too!TFS and inspiring ❤
Thank you Giusi - I feel so lucky to have found the lacy cakendar piece and the table rubber as it really set the ball rolling on my piece. The kilt pins are fun little projects 🤗
Cute ideas for the kilt pins!
Thanks Sue - it’s a fun one that I will make more of for sure 🤗
Thank you Christine for your video and a look at your beautiful project. I think this is brilliant, as I commented before this is the size I need. I wanted something that I can use daily and take away on holiday that has everything I could possibly need ,including pliers 😂. I have taken sewing away for a weekend break and had to stop due to not having something I ended up needing. Take the kitchen sink next time but loads of tins and pouches so this will be ideal. Excellent idea for those pins, I have some in my bead stash.
So happy Carol that we can share ideas and inspiration, and love when something captures someone’s imagination. Have a wonderful time creating your bespoke huswif 🤗
❤this is so unique ❤my favourite ❤😊
Thank you so very much - I’m glad you like it. Cheers, Christine
Omg it turned out amazing. I adore that it is absolutely huge and has allTheThings in it. Brilliant work. Still working on mine. I have since started a second one lol to qork out the pattern.
Thank you! It does take a bit to work out the folding and positioning. I found it easiest to stitch the elements at the end once I could check how it all rolled or folded. A few things needed to move around. Cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristine oh yes. I had the basic layout before I started sewing the elements. And I am sewing them on a background first, then attaching the background to the outer shell. We will see how that works. I plan on some stitching lines through everything at the places I want it to fold.... wish me luck. Still attaching elements atm.
While I was watching your video I wrote down notes of things to add to my huswif when I make one. Also as I was watching it I thought to myself while we were sitting next to each other why didn't I ask you more about your history of sewing because you knew about needle turn appliqué.
So many possibilities to add to a huswif - I was happy I had plenty of space 🤗 hopefully we get to chat sewing somewhere else in the world together one day 🤗
Your Huswif is beautiful, and full of everything to meet your sewing needs.
Definitely super sized! 🤗
Your housewife is going to keep you prepared for any stitching need you may encounter, and be pretty at the same time.
Thanks Candice - I’ve now got it hanging in my craft room so it will be handy for regular use too 🤗
🙋♀️🌹❤️🇹🇷🌷❤️🥰👌🧶❤️🦋🧚♂️

where did you get the thread dolly from ?
Hello - I found them secondhand at op shops (or thrift stores or charity shops as they are known elsewhere). Cheers, Christine
