I have never been able to dunk a basketball, but l have been known to jump for joy on a rare occasion.........

Here's some anecdotal evidence. My peak jumping in my life where I was able to grab rim as a white 5'7" stocky boy, was also the peak of my weightlifting career. With best lifts of about 130/160. Coincidence? Success leaves clues

could you make a video covering single leg split jumps for rate of force development? Weighted vs non-weighted etc….

I’ve tried phases of training like an “elastic or peaking phase” where I do more jumps than anything and I still Olympic lift but I under load them and my bounce is no where near what it usually is when I’m really pushing on the Olympic lifts. If anything the peaking or elastic phase is only really good for managing fatigue for a period of time. But I feel like you don’t need a whole training cycle to do that maybe like a week or two.

Will, as a 38 year old local league soccer player, can I expect to become more explosive on the pitch if I trade my traditional PPL split for jumps/Olympic lifts/compounds? Or am I too old and knackered?

yes. you will probably feel less old and knackered too. lean on the side of lower volume if you are practicing/playing soccer frequently

Been preaching this for 2 decades. With that said, as a competitive weightlifter I loathe the thought of squats after the lifts lol
