Thank you for this tutorial! I've always loved working with pencils (rather than powder shadows). For me, you can't beat the way they blend out. You can go subtle or dramatic. Loved this! xx
That. Was. A-mazing! I cannot believe I only stumbled across your site about a week ago, and I literally cannot stop watching your videos. And I need to re-watch them and learn, learn, learn! Seriously, you teach things that are just not being taught anywhere else. I'm sorry, I'm babbling, but I am just FLOORED! Thank you, thank you. Can't stop gushing. And you always end with "Thank you for your time." Who raised you??? They are awesome! Thank them for me! Lol.
you are actually a makeup guru, unlike the multitude of others on here that make entertaining makeup videos, but they're more fun to watch. yours are fun to watch and very helpful!
I tried this yesterday and let me tell you this is the only way i got a smokey. I have been trying for months to get a look and always ended up blending all my colours. Your tips and you rock. You explain the tricks and technique so well. Cheers to you dear. You are boosting my confidence in using make up once again.
I love this technique - tried it lately with a really intense aqua shade instead of the purple and got so many complements! I'm forever directing people to your videos - your tricks and tips are fantastic!
I ABSOLUTELY love this technique, and I cannot wait to try it. I'm getting so much faster and better at application, and I love working with pencils. Thanks again!
I love this technique!! and I love your message "remember it's only make up" because it's so true and it has so many meanings!! it sounds crazy but you look sooo nice and lovely and such a beautiful person
This video blew my mind. I have hooded eyes (which I love!) but depending on how much sleep I get, the crease moves, so I'm always tinkering with my contour line. As always I am incredibly impressed.
I've only watched a few of your tutorials. You're a terrific artist and ballsy too, to come on and apply makeup on yourself. I don't know that many men would bare the brunt of most imminent scrutiny for penciling in your own eyes. I commend you for being brave and doing what you love; helping others learn a craft you're so passionate about. Great work!
This has become my favorite look. I have a mono lid and I have never been able to get this kind of effect before, thanks so much for uploading this tutorial.
Hi Wayne, I just wanted to tell you that I tried this look in myself for a party over the weekend and I got nothing but compliments about my eye makeup! I used a bright sky blue instead of purple, but I loved it! Thank you so much for showing me this technique!i have really hooded eyes and this is one of few looks that looks good on my eye shape! Thank you!!!
Hooded eyes have a beautiful dreamy look to them, and probably the most versatile out there. I find this illusion of a crease distracting on some. For instance my hooded eye can look ok with this technique straight on, but a little silly from the side. I'm glad to know this look works for you. There may be some hope for me yet!
your skin is amanzig!!! you have no idea how much you helped me with this video!!!! i have exactly same eyelids as yours!!! and i just fall in love with this look! Thank u! thank u! sooooo much for this tutorial!!!
Can't wait to try it!! Thanks to your videos I finally learned how to apply eyeshadow not to mention how to have flawless skin. Your techniques are so simple but so effective. People have been complimenting me on my looks. I am really grateful to you. Wishing you much happiness & abundance!!
I've used this type technique before to create a smokey eye when I forgot my trusty black eyeshadow. Great to see a whole look with just pencil! You're truly amazing Wayne :)
Thank you so much for making this video! I've seen so many make up tutorials using pencils instead of or with shadow and I never had any idea how to make it work for me. Super excited to go try it out! Thanks!!!!
Beautiful tecnique. I'm deffenitly (am I spelling this wright?) gonna try this! It totally works as a look suited for work, you still have somr colour but not everyone sees it.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Best technique ive seen. The final effect was brilliant. Will definitely practice this seeing as I have a hooded lid so i need my crease higher up anyways.
You r amazing!!! Love how easy u make it to do. my biggest problem is, I never can blend all the way and i tend to stick w/ the same colors. I have a fear of trying bright colors!!! Ur videos have kind of pulled me out of that box!!! Thank you!!
been following him for more than a year. I just wanna say, he s really a generous makeup artist that he actually shows his techniques, shares his opinions...seriously, how many professional make up artists have you seen who are actually kind to tell ordinary people how to look prettier? i dont understand, i mean i m an ordinary person, even if i learn from the tutorials and improved my make up skills, when it comes to big events, we will still go to professionals, make up artists lose nothing...
This is beautiful! I think I'm going to try it for work. I don't have false lashes right now, but my Urban Decay Big Fatty mascara does a really good job of making my natural lashes look intense and almost false. I use about three coats of mascara to achieve almost-false lash status, for those who are interested in trying it. Also, I have the former UD BF mascara from before they revamped it, which they still sell on their site.
You're a stunner! I cant get the black liner to not smudge and always manage to have different looking wing bits on both eyes. One keeps on going lower than the other no matter what, making the eye look small! Thanks for your videos, they're awesome :)
This is a really great tutorial. I like to blend it more so that it gives a softer finish. But I havent wear it to go out yet. Will this crease? I have oily lids. Will it make a difference if i finish it with dusting powder?
I'm rewatching this today. Very helpful. I love the way you say "Wing it right the way in". Will try this soon. Looking for the Ben Nye pencil now. xoxoxo
I am going to do this tomorrow for school because it..is...GORGEOUS! You have such talent and it always blows my mind away and your accent is just the cherry on top :D
I have been admiring Kevin Aucoin's make up for so long, and I've always wanted to know how he was able to do the pencil look. I'm so glad you make a tutorial for it! Thank you very very much! :)
I love it!!! I've been looking for a more "natural/doesn't look like I'm wearing a lot of eye product" eye makeup. I love playing up my eyes but they always turn out too dramatic particularly for work. I think this might be the perfect alternative! Thanks -3
You make it look soooo easy,im not good at eye shadow, but i love this look and will practice, i wear fake eyelashes as i cant be bothered with coat after coat of mascara
I LOVE the pencil technique. I try to use that at home but I'm not that good at it. Pencils make the most amazing eye shadow base, but to be honest it doesn't work as well with the cheaper liners. Which kohl pencils do you recommend?
Thank you, Wayne! Another great video and new technique to try! I've learned more about makeup application in the last six months by watching your vids than I have in my entire life! (50 years) Again, THANK YOU!! 😉
Great technique! I've noticed in your recent tutorials that you've only been doing one eye... I was wondering if you could do the other ( even off camera) so we get to see how they look overall/ can change a face?
At first you lost me with the black winged line you made, but after it all came together, it looked really cool! Way different than a lot of the tutorials I've seen lately! I'll give this a try!
I Love this look on someone in 20s and 30s....what can we do if we are a very young looking late 40s, a nice eye makeup look tutorial....thanks Wayne, I love your videos and ttutorials.
Excellent - tried this twice. Can you let us know the products or dips of colors you used? Especially the light brown pencil. The ones I tried aren't the right color or consistency/ texture.
i tried this eye look yesterday with the kim k highlighting and contour technique you showed fr the face and the overall effect was awesome!!! Youre an amazing teacher...and like you say,its all just makeup but its feels so good to be able to achieve a bit of that hollywood magic at home!! p.s. blending with the side of the crease brush worked like a charm...great tip!! keep up the good work
WOW! Its like you did this look for me. I am going to a wedding today and this is perfect. Even the colors match my dress perfectly. Thank you so much :)
WOW! Halway through I thought I didn't really like it much and by the end I was in love. It turned out sooo pretty!! Thank you again for teaching me something new :) xoxo
Fabulous ! a do-able eye makeup without a million products,an hour and a doctorate in cosmetology.
Thank you .
Thank you for this tutorial! I've always loved working with pencils (rather than powder shadows). For me, you can't beat the way they blend out. You can go subtle or dramatic. Loved this! xx
You have no idea how much I've learnt from you!!!! Thank you for the videos. Such a lifesaver!

well, i think this is some of the most amazing work ive seen yet. because its so natural then dramatic and still pretty simple to do. BRAVO!
I love this technique!! and I love your message "remember it's only make up" because it's so true and it has so many meanings!! it sounds crazy but you look sooo nice and lovely and such a beautiful person

What a stunning look I love how simple it is yet it looks like a lot of work.

omg this look is so gorgeous. i'm immediately obsessed. fingers crossed i'll be able to replicate it.
Very unique techinique! Question , because it's pencil will it tend to crease easily than pressed eye shadows?
You're a stunner!
I cant get the black liner to not smudge and always manage to have different looking wing bits on both eyes. One keeps on going lower than the other no matter what, making the eye look small!
Thanks for your videos, they're awesome :)
I never thought to use pencils like that. I've only used them for my crease but wow...very nice. Thanks! :)
This is a really great tutorial. I like to blend it more so that it gives a softer finish. But I havent wear it to go out yet. Will this crease? I have oily lids. Will it make a difference if i finish it with dusting powder?
Wayne, this look is pure genius! I can't wait to try your pencil technique.

Just keeps getting better and better! You are truely a genius! I am eager to try this technique.
i've seen people recommend putting them in the fridge for a bit before you sharpen. makes them harder and easier to keep their shape. worth a try?
quick, clear, concise. that's what i love about ur tutorials! thank u for sharing!
I have never seen this technique before, but it looks fun and really unique. You, sir, are awesome.
I love it!!! I've been looking for a more "natural/doesn't look like I'm wearing a lot of eye product" eye makeup. I love playing up my eyes but they always turn out too dramatic particularly for work. I think this might be the perfect alternative! Thanks -3
I have never seen this before. U are brilliant at what u do Wayne!
You make it look soooo easy,im not good at eye shadow, but i love this look and will practice, i wear fake eyelashes as i cant be bothered with coat after coat of mascara

Great technique! I've noticed in your recent tutorials that you've only been doing one eye... I was wondering if you could do the other ( even off camera) so we get to see how they look overall/ can change a face?
It's amazing how I keep learning new things from you.
At first you lost me with the black winged line you made, but after it all came together, it looked really cool! Way different than a lot of the tutorials I've seen lately! I'll give this a try!
you genuinely seem like such a nice, decent down to earth guy ( who is EXTREMELY talented) Love your videos! x
I Love this look on someone in 20s and 30s....what can we do if we are a very young looking late 40s, a nice eye makeup look tutorial....thanks Wayne, I love your videos and ttutorials.

You make it look so simple! Could you please recommend an affordable flesh coloured eye pencil? Thanks x
Excellent - tried this twice. Can you let us know the products or dips of colors you used? Especially the light brown pencil. The ones I tried aren't the right color or consistency/ texture.

You are the most original make up artist on the web! I follow you from Italy!

You make it seem so easy. another great tutorial! You truly are an artist!
This is a MUST try, thanks so much for ALL your great tutorials...YOU'RE ONE AWESOME MAN!!!!
You did a great job on this! Very educational but also tastefully done! You just get better all the time!
Wayne, I LOVE this tutorial... Would it give the Kris Jenner look if you just used black instead of the brown pencil? Awesome look!
I love this look with the black liner, I want to try this but do u think it will work with gel liner too?
I just looove how you listen to feedback and show the looks from farther away :)
What brushes did you use? They look so perfect for my small eyelid space. & I love this look! Reminds me of Effy off of Skins x
such a cool technique! I am going to give this a go see if I can recreate this.
I love this. I have a bunch of colored eyeliners that I am going to try this out with now. Thank you. Great video as always!
Your innovative makeup designs always impress me.
Very cool to watch! Love the eyeliner on the side...one of those things you wonder why you never thought of yourself!
You make it look so easy. I will try this one as well. Wish me luck!
