I just wanted to say I have watched several of these videos and you are the first person to explain that you want the wing to run up toward your eye brow. I never knew what exact angle i should be doing it at.. sometimes it's too low, sometimes too high, so using the tip of the brow as a refernece is perfect! So I did learn something! perfect! thank you!
Best description I've seen thus far. I'm a sucker for green eyes & ultra vibrant blue (latter has to be sparkling & terrific to catch my attention) but Wayne has both & I've fallen in love with him at first glance!
You probably can, just differently. Practice it with your eyes fully open and looking straight ahead into the mirror when you mark the place for your wing. Go subtle and short first. Don't tug when lining, or else it'll look weird when your skin springs back into place. Depending on how hooded your eyes are, it may have to be doctored a bit with the angle and placement and such. If you have it wrong, the wing may look like it curves under, like a "u". Those of us with hooded eyes can do just about any look just with a different method. Though I'm not Asian, I find a lot of tips and tutorials on Asian eyes work well for my eyeshape too. I hope you find a way! :)
He means the droopy, age-hooded eyes, not the Asian or "almond" eye shape!! In another video he explains how winged liner looks awesome on the Asian kind of hooded eye :)
yup my heart was broken too, it never looks quite right but i do it anyways. the best cat eye i had was little strips glued on and they are now sold out cant find them anywhere.lol
Um I know this was ages ago but I have hooded lids and this youtuber Stephanie Lange has a whole tutorial on how to do it because she has hooded eyes. Pretty much just tightline your waterline, don't draw above the lash line because you don't want to hide all your lid space and then just do the wing on the outer edge. Good luck x
I love all of your tips. You also seem like a kind person and i could listen to you talk all day. For those who complain about any of his technique, keep this in mind...you are not being forced to watch. If you have a way that works better for you that's fine but no need to criticize his technique. All makeup artists develop their own style and technique. That does not make their way wrong. I'm in school for makeup artistry now and as long as the looks i do look professional and the way they are supposed to appear, i do things the way that feels comfortable to me.
ur seriously the best. this was one of the best vids on this look but every single one of your vids is sooo informative and helpful not to mention you are a pleasure to watch! thx so much for sharing ur gifts with us!!
I've watched a lot of YT tutorials on winged eyeliner but I've never heard of these tips. I'm so happy that you have shared them! Thank you so much and keep up the good work. You're one of my favorite MUA's.
I love that you zoom in and make it so we can see all that you are doing and are so in depth in your description of how to make this look perfect. I am so going to try this tonight. Thank you so much for this awesome video. :D
You have this brilliant way of separating yourself by sharing such timeless information that is so useful. You then do it in such a warm, genuine way. Much appreciated.
this tip has made my life so much easier. i would always spend heaps of time trying to do winged eyeliner every morning and never be able to get it to look similar and then removing it but after i watched this video applying eyeliner is something i look forward to the most. it is so simple and quick and comes out great :) thank you so much, i love your videos, they always put a smile on my face and i always learn something new xx
I have a semi hooded eye (not to an extreme) and I know that this particular shape of wing would not suit me...ive tried before and it actually makes my eye look droopy. Believe it or not, the best wing shape for hooded eyes is a line that goes vertically up just where your outer upper eyelid ends and make a triangle connected to the middle of your upper lash line. So instead of a hook coming off the end of your eye (which I find looks strange) you have a triangle looking shape that actually lifts the eye. I don't think any makeup artist out there would recommend this but its been my signature look for 6 years and no one has ever looked at me funny
I really enjoy watching your videos because you explained so well... Your video has really helped me to gain knowledge on all the makeup tricks...thank you n keep up the good work
OMG i had been struggling all my life to get this cat eye perfected n failed. but u made it so so simple. LOVE YOU WAYNE🤗 anyone can do make up maybe but very few make awesome teachers..👍
This is so much better than any winged eyeliner tutorial I’ve seen on TH-cam EVER!! Thank you for being so detailed about where to place the tape, I always seem to get it wrong but maybe I’ll get it right after watching this!!!
This is probably going to sound super weird but ....I'm 49 and have only ever done basic makeup and my daughter has always done amazing makeup, winged eyelids etc. Now I stumbled across this amazing man and I am learning so much I actually want to go and buy makeup! I even watched two of these videos sunbaking at the beach yesterday, fair to say I am hooked.
ive been watching your videos for so long now. love every single one of em. theres nothing like a guy who knows make up. u are the best! thank u for the videos.
there is just something about the way he does his tutorials that are so concise and easy to follow. i love wayne. wayne you are forever my favorite. dianne
Do you have tips for eyelashes that are difficult to curl? I will curl the lashes, apply liner, but then by the time I'm done applying everything, the eyelashes sink back down. And when I try to recurl, I ruin all my eyeliner! It's a catch 22 for me, I can either have one or the other.
Lady Lydia ..... I have really hooded eyes and just accepted the fact that I can't do winged liner! I don't know, maybe Waynes tips and tricks can actually help me. Did you happen to catch his eyes? They look blue...then green.....then blue/green then green/blue.....it was hard to concentrate on what he was saying!
I loved how detailed this tutorial was!! This kind of detail what gives the viewers the chance to do it themselves rather than just crying about how some tutorials look good but we can't do them in real life!
one way asians and hooded eye people can do a winged liner is by keeping that line super thin so you can still see a bit of the lid. You need a super sharp point eyeliner brush or liquid liner that dries almost instantly like kvd tattoo liner. there are many better eyeliners for a winged look in my opinion, like the Lancome Grandiose Liner but not for hooded eyes. it can be done if you have a little lid showing. you just need to make some adjustments and looking at asian makeup and asian makeup tutorials is going to be your best bet since the hood of the eye is very similar
ily so much because youre not scared of who you are and you are proud of loving makeup and even though some people may not like who you are it doesn't matter because you love yourself
I have a LOT of friends who ask me to teach them how to do their makeup; particularity winged eyeliner and many of them have little to no experience. This is a really great video for "intimidated beginners" and I'll definitely be sharing this with my friends. I also really like that you show how to do the technique in yourself. It's such a different process putting makeup on someone else and can make tutorials difficult to follow.
As a former make up artist in NYC and in Chicago to open Bobbi Brown in Neiman Marcus I find your blog the most entertaining, your honesty, passion for Beauty, and cheeky attitude refreshing. Im not sure how long you have been doing this, because I dont see them in order. Your thinner in some, not as thin in others, and your smile has improved in others. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant tip ! I've watch a lot of videos on how to achieve perfect eye liner and none makes it as easy as you just showed us. I'll definitely try your technique next time !
I love your videos! They are never boring and the way you explain the technique then show us then explain again makes it easy for anyone to follow. I am so glad I came across your site! Thank you!!
first time ever in my life draw the winged eye liner successfully with following the tips in Wayne's vedio!! Even on my mono eye lid, the result came perfect. Thank you so much!
I love this look. I practiced over and over on myself and then my daughter. She and both have dark blonde hair and light blue eyes. This look is so good for teens in my opinion. I showed her how to achieve a nude smokey eye and this wing technique. On our eyes, we have discovered that blue and green eyeliner looks amazing over a nude eye. Thank you so much for all your videos!!
i just did both your newer video of eyeshadow and this winged eyeliner technique and omg it came out so well! thankyou so much!! i can now do such a beautiful soft look even with my uneven hooded eyes
I have watched 1000 videos on how to create the perfect winged liner and this was the most helpful winged eyeliner video ever! I just tried it how old and my liner came out absolutely perfect!!! Thank you Wayne Goss!!!
ugh its so frustrating bc i have a weird pair of hooded eyes!! lol i have a crease where its supposed to be but then there is another crease that is lower than my natural crease and its keeping me from doing this look. ;( winged liner is not meant to be in my life..
I have watched and tried a zillion different winged eyeliner techniques, even with the tape and never managed to get it quite right. It was pefect FIRST go. Thanks Wayne. I really appreciate you taking the time to show us exactly how to do it. Shaz x
When you do line around the inside tearduct into a point though, how do you prevent from the liner collecting into a big eye goo goo? Lol that 's what usually (well, always, let's be honest) happens to me! I have super watery eyes though, so maybe that's why
I usually just use the pad of my index finger and lightly dab off the excess and make sure that it's not in the actual tear duct itself, but around it :)
Tazy Roberts haha..i know what you mean, but then i remind myself that everyone is beautiful and we all have that something that someone else covets,so remember there will always be someone that wants something you have...just the way the 🌎 works... #We'reAllBeautiful 💫
I never noticed your eye color before! It's amazing :0 I do this look almost everyday and I struggle a lot with getting both wings symmetric... I'll try this tomorrow!!!

You are very kind - thank you x
Wayne Goss same here. I have always been intimidated because I didn't know where to go with it so I would guess...
Wayne Goss ohhhh my God ur eyes
Omg i couldn't understand a thing after you zoomed in because of your eyes, they're like a caribbean ocean, idk they are magical
Denise Luciani My same thought. What a stunning shade of blue/green.
Best description I've seen thus far. I'm a sucker for green eyes & ultra vibrant blue (latter has to be sparkling & terrific to catch my attention) but Wayne has both & I've fallen in love with him at first glance!
You really do have a phenomenally beautiful eye color.
Your eye color is really beautiful
I know! #goals
Wayne's eyebrow game is so strong. They always look SO good
Thank you Wayne! always the best tutorials

i have really hooded eyes so when you said the look will never work for me you crushed my dreams

Mr. Goss has a bit of a hooded lid, too. It looks fine on him.

omg his eye color 😍😍😍😍
Your eyes.....wow!
Seriously, as soon as Wayne zoomed in I'm like "Wow his eyes are gorgeous!".
I love how much detail you give. I also love that you don't fast forward when giving demos. Keep it up
Your eyes are beautiful!
I'm in love with this man! so talented!
AngelinaMarie DeMarco84
I. KNOW!!!
He is so incredible. I cannot believe how amazing he is. I've learned so much since I started watching him.
Wow. What a beautiful eye color!
I love all of your tips. You also seem like a kind person and i could listen to you talk all day.

your eye color is just amazing!!
I've been watching your makeup tutorials for 3 years and I've seen many others over the years but your videos are so in depth. You're my favourite.
Wayne's the best. I wish everyone struggling to get the winged liner right finds this video. :')
I love that you zoom in and make it so we can see all that you are doing and are so in depth in your description of how to make this look perfect. I am so going to try this tonight. Thank you so much for this awesome video. :D
oh my! your eye color is amazing!
You have this brilliant way of separating yourself by sharing such timeless information that is so useful. You then do it in such a warm, genuine way. Much appreciated.
I love the color of your eyes

Wish I could see a pic of what you mean Lisa...I have hooded lid and envy women who can do winged liner....
bzebluemorpho yeah I wish I could show you...sorry if my description is not very clear, its hard to explain.
This is exactly how I do it too! :D Hooded eyelids UNITE! ...or something. Good to know I'm not alone.
One thing can certainly be said about your videos......you are NEVER boring!!!!! Thanks for all the details you provide.
I really enjoy watching your videos because you explained so well... Your video has really helped me to gain knowledge on all the makeup tricks...thank you n keep up the good work
I LOVE the way you did this winged eyeliner❤️It is subtle and beautiful, and the brown is gorgeous!!!
OMG i had been struggling all my life to get this cat eye perfected n failed. but u made it so so simple. LOVE YOU WAYNE🤗 anyone can do make up maybe but very few make awesome teachers..👍

Your eyes are beautiful. Wowww
So refreshed with your lack of impertinent preamble. Thank you so much for these amazing tutorials.

Interesting tip, thank you!
I've seen so many eyeliner tutorials and this one is the absolute bees knees! thank you so much I gotta try it xxx
Who else here has hooded eyes and can't do winged eyeliner?
Lady Lydia I do not have hooded eyes(don't think so) but my left browbone is too uhm, low! So I never can make the "wing" to look properly.😭
Lady Lydia I have hooded eyes and winged eyeliner looks fine on me
Lady Lydia you should try to line your upper waterline and do a small wing that starts from your lashline instead to do the whole thing xx
Lady Lydia ..... I have really hooded eyes and just accepted the fact that I can't do winged liner! I don't know, maybe Waynes tips and tricks can actually help me. Did you happen to catch his eyes? There are videos explaining ways you can have winged eyeliner even with hooded eyes :)
I loved how detailed this tutorial was!! This kind of detail what gives the viewers the chance to do it themselves rather than just crying about how some tutorials look good but we can't do them in real life!
What would you do if your eyes aren't symmetrical at all, so following your lower lash line to the eyebrow tip would make the eyeliner uneven??
Wayne, i think i have learnt more from you than any other person on YT. Always so generous with your knowlegde. I use lots of your brilliant tips. xxx

you have the most beautiful eyes!!
This has been the best winged eyeliner tutorial, ever!!!
You have beautiful eyes !
This might sound dramatic but this man has changed my life
Would this technique also work with liquid eyeliner? Beautiful eyes btw ;) Thanks for the tutorial!
I'm not a professional but I wing my liner everyday and I would say yeah this would work with whatever you've got!
Thank you! I was wondering if doing it with liquid eyeliner + the tape would be a bit messy and cause it to smudge or something!
You're not boring:) Those little things that make diffrence, and you explain everything so easy. Thanks for Poland
Wayne~~
You are amazing. I've missed you!
Always Love
Lana
We love Wayne but we love you too Lana!
I love your videos! They are never boring and the way you explain the technique then show us then explain again makes it easy for anyone to follow. I am so glad I came across your site! Thank you!!
'Yay another tutorial, I'm going to pay extra attention to Mr. Goss' moments later -*hypnotized by your eyes
first time ever in my life draw the winged eye liner successfully with following the tips in Wayne's vedio!! Even on my mono eye lid, the result came perfect. Thank you so much!
Loved this tip, loved your hair

actually, if you have hooded eyes (like I do), this is a GREAT technique
I love your tutorials. I tried some of your tips today, and was told by complete strangers that I was stunning thanks for sharing.
I have watched sooo many wing liners tutorials with tape n this is the first one that actual explains exactly where to place the tape n why.
i just did both your newer video of eyeshadow and this winged eyeliner technique and omg it came out so well! thankyou so much!! i can now do such a beautiful soft look even with my uneven hooded eyes
Which eyeshadow video ,i have super hooded eyes,i dont apply anything on mye,but want to apply wingeyeliner and shadow
I think the problem for me is just having my hand steady while making the line on top of the eye, or patience.
I feel your pain...it's not that we're not capable of creating a winged liner...it's just that our eyelids hate us.
I really appreciate the lesson on wing liner. I feel that they help lift the face, especially if you have a round face shape.
Great tip as always, unfortunately I've got hooded eyes :(
I have watched and tried a zillion different winged eyeliner techniques, even with the tape and never managed to get it quite right. It was pefect FIRST go. Thanks Wayne. I really appreciate you taking the time to show us exactly how to do it. Shaz x
Am I the only one seeing this as a 14 minute video with minutes and minutes of nothing after the tutorial ends? Lol.
Thanks for a great tip!
Is it just me or does that colour liner really make his eye colour pop?
I just LOVE Wayne's tutorials. I'll be giving this method a go tomorrow!
Have seen this done before but you are the first to explain about the outer corner and the lower lash line. Thanks so much for the tips!
That awkward moment when he's prettier than you...
It's amazing :0
I do this look almost everyday and I struggle a lot with getting both wings symmetric... I'll try this tomorrow!!!
I love him❤ a makeup wizard 💁🏻 I been watching him since I first started putting on makeup, you are the reason why I slay ✨
Me too, learnt most of my stuff from him. A true artist.
The background wall colour really brings out a lovely hue of green in your eyes.
what to do if your eyes get teary pretty often and nothing stays for too long in the corners of your eyes and in 2-3 hours you end up with 2 dirty spots on your face
This is the first tutorial on this that I feel I can actually do. Thank you!
I can't concentrate on any word of yours
I stay distracted cause you look so perfect
Its not right
Wayne Goss, you really are the OG of makeup tutorials. Thank you for everything you do!!😘😘
You are a beautiful man, inside and out!
I love that when u look down, the line doesn't look like it's going straight up but it retains that curved angle. This is what I always shoot for and now I know how. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!! You're awesome :)
Hell! Ur skin is Gorgeous!
ديمه ماشاءالله يا بنت
Best partial heterochromia ever! Every time I see those eyes, it's mesmerizing.
Ive never tried doing top liner with a pencil. Looks great... as usual❤
Why its a black screen after 10 minute?
error on the bloody video! x
***** I was hoping for extras D:
***** LOL I was hoping for a "hidden track" ;)
You're eye colour is amazing, that said you are brilliant with make up, make up tutorials and tips.
You are genuinely LOVELY
Your eyes are beautiful
Omg! How simple!! I have watched so many videos on winged liner and could NEVER master it. Your video has definitely given me the master ability! So easy!! Thank you Wayne. You are simply amazing!!! 😘
can't fucus in what you said.. just keet looking to your eyes
I never really noticed your eye colour that much, it's beautiful!
But your eyelashes will get in the way when applying eyeliner after they're curled :(
Wow! This made your eyes pop! Love your eye color, just gorgeous.
