Congratulations on the cool buck and adventure. Hunting in snow ❄️ for 🦌 can definitely be a good traditional hunt. The story about the caterpillar 🐛 and your daughter was sweet. Nothing like family.
Thanks Forrest, having that buck pop up in the middle of a blizzard was awesome! I love deer hunting in the snow! Family is the best! Funny how little things u wouldn’t expect remind you of them when ur separated.
Thank you Micky! The respirator is due to me being allergic to the hide (dander specifically) my eyes and throat will swell shut and if it touches my skin I get gnarly rashes. The green string was simply safety to keep someone from seeing antlers and just shooting… we usually try to put something on them. Overkill maybe, but better safe than sorry.
I am actually allergic to them. My eyes and throat will swell shut and if the hide touches my skin I will break out in a bad rash…. It’s the dander in the hide I am allergic to so once that is gone I am fine.
I do a solo wilderness hunt just about every year. nothing like it, but there are risks. those risks feel way outweighed every time I pack out a critter. thank you for doing this video
@@chasethehunt2187 mostly the Adirondacks in New York. The park is six million acres, about half of which is pretty good remote public land and designated wilderness. I hike in from trailheads about three to six miles and camp out of a tent. See no one, hear no one. Moose, bear, deer, truly pristine wild environment. Great hunting. There are some public land spots in Northcentral Pennsylvania that have wilderness qualities, designated wild or natural areas that see maybe a three or five person bear drive in one area once a year and then nothing human the rest of the year. Great places to pitch a tent for a week and hunt a big mountain buck
Unfortunately I can’t say the airstrip but I was allowed 150lbs of gear and then if I went over that I would have been charged $.70 per lb but I didn’t go over. The weight of the animal was included in the cost and didn’t count as extra weight.
McCall, ID has a huge airfield. Which is where the smoke jumpers in Idaho are based... The Frank Church Wilderness area is East of McCall depending on which area fly into is a 45-minute to hour flight time (If I remember correctly). I did this hunt many moons ago in 1998 (solo for elk in Mid-September)... There are dozen of airstrips in the area in the Frank Church. The Air Taxi services at McCall can fly u to any of them for a fee... I still have my topo maps from that hunt years ago...
It’s called a hot rod! And its how I can afford the cost to fly in, by saving gas money from the truck. Unfortunately, I had to give up my man card when I got the car……
Great buck! You certainly earned him. Congratulations!
@@Sean-h5y thanks, I always like having go work for it!
Absolutely gorgeous presentation my friend, stunning scenery and editing! 🔥🔥
Thank you very much! I’m glad you liked it!

Great video, man that looked like a hard area to hunt. Congratulations on the buck.
@williegladden2676 thanks!!
Awesome film. It’s on my to do list to do a hunt like this
What are you waiting for Nolan? Go check it off the list, you won’t regret it!
Hey bud, nice video. 2 questions. What's with the respirator and the green string around the antlers. Thank you

Congrats I’m gonna call you solo badass great job
Dont know that I deserve that title but thanks lol!
What is the respirator all about?

Ahh, my nephew has similar reactions, I will pass this information along.🙏
@@randyrowe3230 I always carry Allegra with me. As soon as I shoot an animal, before going up to it, I pop one to help with the reaction.
Good to know, thank you.

Everything in life is a risk, all you can do is be as prepared as possible. In the case of a wilderness hunt, it just adds to the reward!

Out of curiosity what camera did you use? Thanks cool video bud!
Hey Dan, I appreciate it! I use a Panasonic fz300 for my main camera and then a GoPro 360 for videoing as I hike
Stud!! Go video 😊
Thanks Rick, glad ya liked it!
How late in the season did you go.
I was in there the last week of October
Out of curiosity what airport did you fly into and how much weight did the pilot allow

Sorry man, I can’t confirm or deny if that is the airstrip I went to.
What month was this?
Hey Tyler, this was October
Thank you. Beginning or end? I’m headed to the church the first week and trying to figure the weather out
