i really think brian blade is the most profound jazz drummer of the last 20 years, i feel like people are gonna be talking about him in 30 or 40 years like they do today about max and philly joe and elvin today
The cat gets so many sounds out of just his snare drum much more the rest of his small but lethal kit. He expresses himself as much as in the way he hits his drums in addition to his obvious technical ability.
Hi there, I'm a friend of the friendly travelers. We have performed on the same venue, both in the French Quarters (Kaldi's Coffee Shop and at the New Orleans Jazz Festival). I'm trying to contact Floyd or Alfred. Can you help? 🍓
@lthevenard Not at all. Open your ears and stop looking at the video. Trust me, you'll start hearing the bass that Wolfgang is hinting at. Without the extreme low end the musicians are given more breathing room. Granted this doesn't work in all contexts, but here it's absolutely divine. Blade, Blade, Blade. My ear drums are gonna be grooving the night away.
Does anyone else miss the bass? maybe is just cause I`m used to it, but even thought blade has such unlimited creativity I just feel like the drums get lonely and empty without it.
hmmm.... where to begin. for starters his tastefulness, facility, musicality, expressiveness, creativity, impeccable time... need I go on? dont get me wrong, I prefer Brian's playing, but seems like apples and oranges to me
Does anyone else miss the bass? Don't give me wrong, blade and wolfgang are great, but I really need the bass... maybe is just cause I`m used to it, but I just feel like the drums get lonely and empty without it.
Greatest living player in any genre, by a wide margin.

3:17 is not only the wrong footage, the video is flip around. Everything else is perfect... Especially Blade. 100 thumbs up.
Wolfgang is a great player...maybe world-class. I'm sending this baby straight to favorites. Keep 'em coming!
I smile every time I see or hear Brian play.

Brian blade at 9:00. that fill with the dampened cymbal at the end caught me sooo off guard but was amazing just like this whole video.

hmmm.... where to begin. for starters his tastefulness, facility, musicality, expressiveness, creativity, impeccable time... need I go on? dont get me wrong, I prefer Brian's playing, but seems like apples and oranges to me
What is the main ride cymbal? Anyone knows?
good
proof: the octave pedal is underutilized, still.
@Modes9 why maybe?? :D

What the fuck happened? Why did it cut out at the drum solo?
It's fine, I can't enjoy today's pop, rock and metal music as well :)
don't get me wrong I'm about to make a self absorbed statement about how I can;t enjoy this music.
No Groove no music
