A band comprised of the heir apparents to each of the members of Old and New Dreams??? Seriously??? IMHO, this supergroup is one of the biggest surprises in creative music in quite some time. They are literally picking where Old and New Dreams left off and are going to deeper reaches of the universe. Wow 😲. Among their many other individual projects, I hope that they can keep this group intact and see how far they can go
You nailed it, which is one reason, among other that my heart’s broken about Ron. He was, well, everything: human, supporter, leader, composer, inspirer, improviser of the highest order.
This is a beautiful, engaging, and breathing conversation between superb listeners. But I hate that the first thing I think of when I see Ron Miles is Runnin’ and Gunnin’
Josh Redman is my fave Tenor player, just watched his interview @ Whitworth university, (Mind & Heart education), what an intelligent, open & honest individual, as a novice player i came away from that totally 100% inspired....so much crap in the world, good music is the ultimate refuge...............
can someone explain why every video with Brian Blade in it is not at least half split screen with him on one half always...or something like that? That should be a mandate! 😉
Lots of comments about Brian Blade, and deservedly so. That's why it's so frustrating that in all of the studio recordings with him the drums are sooo low in the mix. I don't get it!!!
When I heard the tune was called "still dreaming" i thought they were doing a version of the Hendrix tune off of the Electric Ladyland album.....it doesn't sound like it ...bit disappointed
Less involving than their mentor band because they don't play from the 'Ornette spirit' - just a simulation of it. DR seems on the verge of redesigning the use of the tenor sax, but steers safely clear. He's a 'mainstream' artist, and mustn't be other than conservative, for his constituency. It's good for any group to bring their own identity to musical known qualities. This one, though, is a yawn. Sharp, precise playing isn't enough.
Rest in Power, Ron. You will be missed greatly.
Now that's what 4 musicians fully engaged with one another sounds like!!! It fills my heart with joy to find jazz that's alive and breathing...
Blade. Drums don't get any better than this.
Steph Boucher 😄♥️🥁
Brian Blade is insane 😎
Incredibly playing, not only individual but ensemble. RIP Ron. . . .wonderful warm soul, kind person a hellavah creative musician.

One of my all time favorite tenor tones of all time....Joshua Redman is one guy I would love to just sit down and talk life with...

Ron Miles is a baaaaaaaaddd dude.
Still can't really comprehend how can Brian Blade sound that good with his snare in such an angle.
its easier to get the rim shot! (of course, if you have your hands on this angle too) its all kind of personal taste
Edu Varallo hell no!!!
Easier lead to Thom Thom
Check the ninja moves at 10:10
I've been wondering this also
The first jazz teacher I had. He taught me to connect emotionally with my instrument. Heartbroken that I'll never play with him again
11:07 Even when improvising like a boss with your eyes closed one must make sure their glasses are properly adjusted
Superb! all my favs in one place. Thanks Gentlemen.

Brian Blade is amazing
Fantastic!! Saw him in Chicago many moons ago, Great drumming, too.
Imagine if Brian played with Miles and Coltrane in 64.....
I’d cry
I was there. It was huge
A few favourite moments:
1:33 extreme sax register + split tone
10:12 drum madness
12:02 more drum madness
14:02 sax + cornet harmony
Beautiful...on so many levels...
Fantástico cuarteto ... Blade quiebra y sobrepasa cualquier límite conocido en la base rítmica 🎼
Holy macaroni...outta breath digging this shit...diamond territory...holy holy!
Yeah, ensemble playing!
I really wish there was a way for me to know more about the mics used in this recording. This looks like a fun array and it sounds fantastic.
Grande Joshua!!! E grandi tutti. Giù il cappello

TH-cam, censorship capital, is your deep love.
Goodness gracious!
Gassed with the composition
very nice sound on the cornet
YES!!!
Absolument fascinant !!! 🤪👏👏👏👍
Brian sounds like butter
Ben Freidkin and playing the Sakae rack tom upside down. He cracks me up. Truly one of my favorite musicians
Ron Hotchkiss It’s not upside down lol
Yep. And you can put butter on everything
Exactly
J C there’s a video of that floating around somewhere. The place went nuts when he did that
So free without piano, i love it...!
RIP Ron
11:07 I've been there, dude.
#glasses
Dig The Quartet big time!!! U er Hip !!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can understand why is not so easy to find a good bass player

10:55 biggest climax ever
Ron we gotta go!
Cósmico!!....
I hear Joshua drawing inspiration from Lovano here.
Holy Shit!
Beautiful. Too bad they left the empty music stand next to Brian.
10:55 what the heck?!
Why are Ron Miles wearing Gakuran ?
広島市にお寄りの接はお会いできるのを楽しみにしております。

A piano; absolutely inappropriate...all sugestion of harmonies & syncopated melodies cascade from Blade's drum...I am forever humbled.
When I heard the tune was called "still dreaming" i thought they were doing a version of the Hendrix tune off of the Electric Ladyland album.....it doesn't sound like it ...bit disappointed
I'm watching this instead of porn 😃🙈
This is porn...
