Yeah, gameplay with the pack is repetitive. I mean, it's better than other packs for me. I enjoyed it for like 2 days (which is an improvement, I played Eco Lifestyle for, honestly, 5 minutes and I literally fell asleep). I play whims turned off, because like what you experience those whims are not related to your sims, so honestly the best alternative for me is turn them off. I also play with mods, I cannot play this game without mods. I wish I have The Sims 2. But I just can't find how to redownload the game. Sentiments and Lifestyle help make this pack look a little better, but The Sims 4 is really boring. I want a game where in it's NOT just me in my mind, that the game validates what story I want to tell. Yes, I want the game to give me freedom of how I can tell my story, and that is fun, but how this game implements it makes it so pointless. Because the only way your sims will have a personality is when you think they have one. Not because you chose their personalities and they act them out. You just have to imagine that that's how they are. It's (for the lack of a better word) stupid.
This is such a good explanation, Estella. That's exactly the problem. You do have to imagine the personality instead of them acting out the personality they have or you choose for them. That's the thing that kills this game!
a lot of abandonware download sites have sims 2!! i think i used oldgamesdownload which has all of the expansions as well
@@iwakeupandboomimarat yes I downloaded the sims 2 ultimate collection from old games download! I highly recommend that site to ppl who want to play it but don’t have the means to
i contacted EA because they had a deal where if you could prove you had a copy of any sims 2 they gave you the ultimate edition free, i had to send photos of the disk case with the date and my email address written on it, and they unlocked it on my account.
I am obsessed with Sims 3 again now! I play 4 and yes I do like it but only with mods like wicked whims and basemental but without it it’s boring. I can play sims 3 with barley any mods just hair and skins and I’m entertained for hours! I don’t trust Oniki kinky world anyway tbh. I have vice city on sims 3 and it’s amazing! I could never have that on sims 4!! Sims 4 sims are beautiful but it is pretty shallow!
Don't worry. If you're feeling sad about this pack, just place a painting in your room and the happiness of a Nicely Decorated environment will make you literally forget everything else. That's just how real life works

OMG CAN I TELL YOU?!?! I started up my game to play with the new update and had a tough time putting on a roof after messing with platforms. I have all the packs until this ☝🏻. The day was a hot Summer day and both my Sims almost died because of the damn roof! But I barely saved them because they just LOVED the lot traits! Like.... are you kidding me?!
@@stacy8457 that new update does nothing but keep my game crashing every 20 minutes. 😂 so I’m playing TS3 right now. Until that gets fixed. 🤣 I didn’t even try to mess with build mode again (because it crashed and left my eye twitching last night)

@@Henrythearcher13 it’s actually a big issue ever since the new update and snowy escape release people’s games have been breaking in mass. If you look up “thesims4” on Twitter you’ll see hundreds of new complaints from people saying the new update or expansions has corrupted/broken their game.

I find it funny how a month ago when Paralives showed gameplay, even their character had an animation for taking off their shoes indoors

It's disappointing that all the game changers always only talk about the build items and are sooooo excited about them. Like, it's a LIFE simulation, not a BUILD simulation. I understand that they like building, I like it too, but the gameplay is such an important part of this game. It pisses me off honestly. That's why I'm always super happy when you talk about the gameplay !! THE important part, in my eyes at least. You truly made me revisit the Sims 2 and because of you I'm replaying it, and I love it ! Thank you SO much. :)
The biggest Game Changers (Vixella, Deligracy, Lilsimsie, James Turner) are all builders so it’s not surprising that they get extremely excited about packs and then are able to persuade their fans to buy the game. My issue with the Game Changers program isn’t the people themselves, it’s the fact that EA is using them for marketing purposes and by utilizing their image and presence they have a way to continue to perform extremely well financially for doing practically nothing.
The sims 4 has the best build mode out of any sims game, but that’s it. When I think back to when I was a kid playing the sims 2, I would have SO much drama and stories going on. 7 year old me was pretty much directing a soap opera lmfao

I feel most game changers are builders, so it makes sense. However I do see where you are coming from :)
Not all game changers focus on build mode, maybe you just need to find the right ones to watch, for example I enjoy the videos from the English Simmer and Plumbella a lot since they focus on gameplay, and they are usually harsh with the sims team if they have to unlike others.
the kicker for me was lilsimsie admitting in her mansion build video the other day saying she literally uses the sims as only a build simulator lol
That's basically all you can do with it. And that's not enough for me.
It's ok to use ts4 only for building. I meen its a great building simulator and I have so much fun playing like that. I dont understand what is wrong with Lilsimsie admitting that she mostly builds in the sims...
@@penguinqueen01 there’s nothing wrong with playing the sims for building. I think the issue is that the sims at its core is supposed to be a life simulation not building simulation yet the life sim aspect is lacking compared to building

@@penguinqueen01 There's nothing "wrong" with it, it just had a lot more potential that it fails to live up to. Plus a game that costs over 700$ to buy completely should be able to accomplish more than pretty graphics. It's marketed as a life simulation game, but really does little to fulfill that criteria. People love building in the sims 4 and that's great, I like to built cafes and restaurants personally. But for people who bought this game because they loved the other sims games' gameplay and literally just can't play the sims 4 because its devoid of substance, it's frustrating to have spent so much money on packs to improve the gameplay that really just add nothing.
I regret my life choices involving the Sims 4... Except for the CC. CC creators have more talent than EA.

I’m cringing at how the map looks why do they always have VERY LITTLE lots but have this huge landscape of the map 😤
i personally prefer the maps that have larger landscape bc i think the builds look better when they're slightly smaller in comparison. it is weird when some maps are large and some maps are small though :/

@@bugeye8161 doesn’t seem that exciting & literally every sims 4 world is beautiful but barley any families & lots to do stuff without getting bored less than an hour it’s basically the same with this one the gameplay will always be a disappointment
They used to have 5 neighborhoods per world & they've cut it down to 3 but the map size remained the same. So they have to have "landscaping". Just more "pretty" to gloss over the lack of actual content.

Anybody else think it's weird that this EP added "chopstick savvy" as a personality trait for Sims in an Asian world? Like.. I'm pretty sure Asian people don't really consider the ability to use chopsticks as part of their personality anymore than an American would with their ability to use a fork. This feels way too cheesy.

It has been an unlockable trait since city living. Imagine how pissed everyone would be if the sims native to this world could not use chopsticks properly.
@@Kai-ko4yp I think the biggest point is that it's not a hidden trait (like which hand is the Sim's dominant hand, and such) and that it's positioned as a literal part of someone's personality

Gameplay is what matters the most to me! I know some people are just into building, and that's cool. But it's secondary to my enjoyment of a game.

You know, one thing I keep hearing with other people reviewing this pack that initially piqued my interest was that this pack has the most lore of any Sims 4 pack. And from what I can tell, that is true. But all I can think now is, how pathetic is that?!? There's only 3 families that contain sims that's skills don't match their jobs and relationships aren't realistic yet it STILL has more lore than all the other towns. I know that has nothing to do with this video but I'm just baffled.
The bar is so low it's underground at this point. Throw out ANY little scrap or lore and people are going crazy over it.

@@nannybells Yeah, don't they know who they are dealing with it is fucking EA not solely Maxis but a company known for being scummy and ruining games with their greed. If the sims community keep backing down because they feel sorry for the creators working on the sims EA will keep squeezing them for every little penny they can get, I mean do we even need to talk about my first pet stuff again. As we speak EA is fighting against a class action lawsuit for loot boxes in games and arguing that it is not a form of gambling and calling it "surprise mechanics". If the sims 5 really will be online, boy oh boy, get ready to have some fun. EA have said themselves that single player games are dying despite the fact and I'm more or less convinced this notion is probably the reason why they are already working on the sims 5 while giving us lackluster content for the sims 4 which has been out for nearly 6 years now and still feels like a watered down version of any of its predecessors. The sims 3 in that similar amount of time finished releasing all its expansion and stuff packs. Sorry about the rant but I just feel that putting this out there helps paint a picture of why we should have the right as the consumers to actually get a product worthy of the franchises name.
The Sims community has a lot of what I would describe as sheep behavior where they don't think they're even allowed to be critical of The Sims 4 or the devs because "we're lucky they give us stuff anymore." Bullshit. EA doesn't GIVE us anything, they charge us out the ass for content that isn't worth the price they're asking/demanding.

I'll be honest, I really thought that this might have been the expansion that began EA's redemption. But, I stuck true to my convictions and gave it a few days to see the reviews and opinions. Thank you for actually addressing the core issues with this release and not being hung up on the razzle-dazzle of the Build Mode carrot EA dangled infront of the community.
It's quite insulting that they think we'll be distracted by the beautiful objects and not see how lacking the gameplay is. They did a great job hyping this up. I'll give them that.
EA's got a pretty good method at this point. Have great teaser trailers that show almost everything in the pack, then have a live stream that shows the tiny bit more. That way people preorder and they get to run off with the money before people realize that what they saw before release is all that is in the pack. Not to mention the minor, but somewhat interesting feature they dangle like a carrot in every pack, which since the only way to get it is to pay 40 dollars for that one kinda good feature, people buy it. Only to find out they've put the same feature in yet another pack later.

Can’t forgot how someone commented on a Game Changer video that City Living should’ve included Vampires, Get Famous and Dine Out, then got attacked by Sims 4 stans who were saying it was too much for one expansions. We need expansions to accommodate every play style and with the exception of seasons and Get Together, we haven’t gotten that with the Sims 4.
agh The majority of Sims 4 stans are new players who are happy to accept crumbs because they didn’t experience or know what we used to have. And even those who do realize that EA is scamming us are left with no choice because for the time being The Sims is the only big life simulator. Nightlife is probably my all time favorite pack because it had dining, bowling (family, romance), vampires (supernatural), chemistry (global expansion on gameplay as a whole) as well as little things like spas, karaoke, gambling, nightlife hot spots, DJing, I think additional dance options, just so much and they were all fleshed out. And $30 instead of $40.
@agh I think they're young and new so sims 4 is all they know. Sims 2 was packed with amazing content and gameplay the two games are just incomparable to me.
Forgot to mention that Nightlife also had cars as well as NPCs like Ms. Crumplebottom that added that touch of character and quirkiness to the game that we didn’t have in Sims 3 or 4.

agh Sims 2 gameplay+ sims 3 worlds/customization+ sims 4 graphics/build/CAS+ sims 1 character/soundtrack= god level game. And the sad part is, is that they can give this to us if they want, but they won’t because they can make more money with way less work.

When the trailer came out and I watched reactions I couldn’t understand how people got so excited… The only thing actually exciting me is the lifestyles and that just because modders can probably do so much with it… gonna wait until the pack is on sale… christmas hopefully lmao hahaha

I knew something was up when there was not a SINGLE sim in the area during reviews. Even in this one there was only the mascot, the toddler, lady and random teens ACROSS the map. I play mainly in Oasis Spring and I cant go anywhere without 10-14 sims around me. Straight empty.
“I don’t have fun with it. I want to turn it off and go play Sims 2” - this perfectly sums up my whole experience with Sims 4.
I got S4 for free that one time and haven't opened it since. S2 has days played since then.
I genuinly don't remember when Maxis/EA started to divide simmers in categories... "This is for builders, this for storytellers,..."
The Sims (1) encouraged every player to explore everything! Build your house, create sims and live their stories! The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 kinda mantained that in mind.
What I loved the most about The Sims was always the building aspect but I also loved to see my creations come alive. As a selfproclaimed "builder" type of simmer it bothers me so much when someone says The Sims 4 is great for builders. As much as I appreciate some build/buy tools, I feel that there's no purpose to it if I can't enjoy gameplay after building. Probably I'm in minority of the "builder" bubble but this is what I feel! The Sims 3 may have a lot of problems but I like to build there because I know I will enjoy gameplay after it!
@Babydoll I love sims 3 building and editing the maps to add my own style to it! I downloaded sims 3 vice city and I’m totally in love with it! It’s like having Miami in my game and I could never have this in 4!! Fresh Prince is such a talented sims 3 modder! There are so many beautiful worlds on 3 to choose from!

It's kinda like the old Sims 3 Worlds on the store only those at least were less annoying because the core Sims 3 experience was fun. I don't get why EA is so against making a game that's at least fun under all the monetisation bullshit. It'd probably make people less completely done with the game. If it was actually a good game.

What I learned from the sims 4 is never buy the expansion at full price and I mean never. even if you like one thing it's still gonna be lackluster.

I love 4, but regarding things to do, 3 wins!! Obsessed with sims 3, just wish it was a tad less slow. I would love seasons, pets, and world adventure but my pc wouldn’t be able to handle it due to having sims bloody 4 installed as well!

I haven’t opened the game in almost a year. I never paid any attention to the whims as they never interested me like the wants based system did in the previous games. I would expect them to have at least added whims related to the packs as they are released, but like y’all said they seem to have just abandoned them altogether 😞

It's not as hands-on as I hoped, and I wish they would have like a ski instructor job, and the toddlers and kids could go to a ski school, I hate how unrealistic it is, like you don't stand in a line to ski, you all go down at the same time. Also, you can't ride the train, the gondola is a teleporter, this should be a game pack unless they had put in hotels. I wish EA didn't have the licence to The Sims, and I wish they would listen to their players, they need a new team.
The new update broke a lot of mods, probably why she wouldn't go to school. People are reporting on sentiment bugs as well, with and without mods. Way to go Sims 4 Team, gurus, whatever they call themselves.
my school-aged sims haven't gone to school for months. Idk if it's a mod I have that's broken or what, but still.
And the game keeps crashing as well! How can The Sims 4 Team make us wait for days before getting these kind of problem fixed? Why can't they just properly play-test the game before releasing a new pack, I wonder, and make sure that the update does not completely break the game
@@chrys8991 It's kinda ironic. In the update, they said they fixed some bugs yet we're getting gameplay bugs. I just discovered a new bug regarding the sketchpad. My sim will never finish it for some reason. I'm not the only with this bug since the new update. Hooray for new bugs...yay.
@@RozettaVyper the update before the release was 7 GB so yeah obviously there’s going to be bugs because they’re probably trying to fix all of the tiny things to keep modders from modding by stealing their ideas

I build gorgeous lots myself but mine barely ever get seen or noticed maxis just passes my stuff by! I made a gorgeous 80s style American mall and it went ignored! Lol..ah well Sod it, I will go enjoy sims 3 😀
Those Game Changers killed the game, EA only listen to them and they accept all since it’s gifted to them, they don’t feel scammed. I honestly have the feeling to see them have fun between them since 2015 and tweeting with the team to feel fresh. Since Lazy Game Review lost the Game Changer title for saying that TS4 is garbage I just *see* what circus has been established here.
in the past all i used to do was make a family, play for a while and then make a new family. Now i strted getting into building bcs it’s the best feature. And I agree, the gameplay is boring and representative and I cannot play this game without mods and cc…

I was actually considering buying this pack because I thought it was rather interesting and new concept that was sorta cool but... I knew it would be lacking. I've felt this from TS4 since the very beginning... as someone who has played The Sims since its inception.. seeing the game in this state is so fucking depressing.
I feel like so many of the people who work on the sims team have possibly not even really played the older games or are those people who sorta grew up playing it surface level but never truly dived into it, or are those people who play for three days straight and then don't touch it..
it's just lacking so much passion that I felt with previous installments of this franchise.. it's very sad... honestly.

Hello simmer. I agree with your comment completely. I got this game when I was 14/15 for Christmas 20 years ago. Now that there’s all these new add one etc., it’s not as delightful. I’m into building but I mostly play it for the simulations and controlling and destroying families, like the landgrabbs😂. The game has lost what made it palatable back then and now it’s just overpriced, bright, colorful and lacking content and the needs of those who actually play it
EA only caters to builders. This is why the top GC are builders. Gameplay almost always gets the short end of the stick. I wanted to buy this pack because I love learning about new cultures. However the gameplay seems very one and done. I wish we didn’t have to pay for diversity.
yep! the sims 4 is the BEST game for builders and storytellers! but for everyone that enjoys gameplay.....not so much....

this. they completely revolutionized build/buy and left the storytellers in the dust. all the GC are builders because all they really can do is build and sing praises about the build mode, making the game more enticing to play. notice how most sims 4 simmers do challenges? because the gameplay is lacking unless you make yourself have fun.
I feel like the Sims YT community are being a tad too forgiving of the pack, seeing as all the lots were built by Sims TH-camrs, it doesn't seem like it adds much, considering the sentiments feature is a base game feature now, same with the 'rental' lot type

Sentiments are a bit basic in base game though, making it a semi feature. As a one sim with pet player (Yes, my sims are loners) and a builder I love this pack, it gives me activities. I liked eco lifestyle too because it let me craft stuff. This is why I am quite forgiving towards it. For family play I can see it is hollow and useless, but since I hardly ever play that way...I can't say I notice too much.

my last bought pack was University and I regret it but at least I bought it on discount 💀💀💀 Seasons was the last and one of the few good packs
University was very good imo and after Cats and Dogs, but most are more a matter of taste. I found them worth it as someone who likes to build and create sims but from a gameplay pov you don't need them all

@@bethhague8470 of course the game costs 60 at release, so they take that as the basis price, which is pretty standard for a big franchise. I do find that 30 would be the appropriate price for expansion packs though. I do usually get them all, but I actually safe up for that, otherwise I could never. So I do het your issue.

With every expansion the whims became worse, repetitive and not connected to the sims' aspirations or traits. How come Wants and Fears are so good in TS2, a much OLDER game?

Yep. Absolutely nothing happened there.
After playing sims 4 for way too long I booted up the sims 3, opened up a random premade family and immediately some drama started happening all by itself. It just made me realize how robotic and boring the sims 4 feels. I remember in the sims 2 I loved to create a household full of sims with conflicting personalities and aspirations, put them in a house together and just watch what happened. In the sims 4 almost nothing happens by itself.

I love the fact that you talk about gameplay and how it is important for us, simmers who are in the game for the sake of the game. You are probably the only person who says, don't buy it
I feared this would happen, I wish they had more gameplay oriented packs instead of “watch sim be dumb...do it again” I get this is a simulation game but come on it’s not that hard to make something engaging! Let’s use a farming expansion as a example : have a plains like area where you can make your own farm, rework the gardening system, have livestock like cows or chickens or maybe horses, revamp fishing! I can go on, it’s not hard to come up with something that would be more engaging
what I described is a watered down Stardew Valley, a indie game from originally 1 person with FRACTIONS of the budget, and hours of playability! (I clocked in over 200 on pc alone) and only costs 20$, only 20$ for a fully fleshed out farming game with amazing story, mechanics, music, characters and more! If one person can do this as a indie developer than the sims can do better
They can definitely do better, but they won't as long as people keep defending and buying this garbage. If they're making money now, why would they spend resources to do better? It's no longer about the player experience. EA is a company who doesn't give a shit about the player and they've destroyed this game.

My theory is they have so much stuff on Sims 4, that they programmed themselves in a corner. It would be hard to make sure new stuff works with old stuff properly. I think reworking systems would not be possibe. Sims 4's lifetime should have already ended. EA is forcing to milk it.

I payed 40 dollars for snowy escape, wich in my country is SO expensive. It really is. And it makes me sad to see how shallow this pack is, really. I was SO excited, so ready to play for hours and hours and nope. I just took my family to mt komorebi for a vacation, spent 2 hours there (repeating all the activites cause they arent that much) and came back, and I have already explored the full pack. It makes me sad, cause I love the sims 4, i really do, but i just dont feel like the pack was worth my hard earned money :( so frustrated
Because you have watched all the reviews and gameplay from those simmers in youtube (including this channel). When they played the game, you would gain the experience as well. That will reduce the overall experience when you play it yourself. That’s why never watch the review for this kind of game. Experience it by yourself. That happened with The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. That’s why they were so successful since no one reviewed them excessively on social media like youtube

My strategy is to have the full-packs of pirated game, experience the game and the hype and decide whether it is worth your money or not. After that, when they discount their products, I will buy the original game at discounted price. It is only for the sake of TS4 gallery and some packs that i think they are good. Good expansion packs in my opinion : city living, seasons. Good stuff pack : tiny living. Good game pack : strangerville, vampire

When she started talking about the first Woo-hoo, I immediately thought of TS2. Even if you placed 1 parent and child in the world, you could see a Woo-hoo preceding the birth of the child in the memory system. Omg, how I miss the memory system of the prior games... ❤️

Of course, we need to see more of it, it's in developpment, but I suggest that maybe you could follow their progress. Give them a chance, it seems pretty neat for now. It's Paralives. They're from where I live :) that's probably an other reason why I'm so excited lol, but they have a channel and their progress are truly nice, they're expanding their team.
This, the camping pack and island living could of been one big expansion of vacation destinations like Bon Voyage.
At this point i'm annoyed at all the money i've spent on it to still have an unfinished game that's just vapid and boring, the perfect analogy for the sims 4 is trying to get blood from a stone.
Same with sims 3 WA. We got the egypt-themed, China-theme and paris-theme locations. And our pets pack included a tonnn of small pets you could catch and horses while sims 4 had only cats and dogs then sold hamsters separately????

Does it run better on old laptops? I run it in the windows xp 2 compatibility mode. I feel like they just made it unplayable though once they did the final update. Sucks.

@@noonenowhere877 for my game it made it almost unplayable. It was the last update before they released sims 4 and they also made it so the sims 3 HAS to have origin to run which is annoying. I doubt they tried to break the game with that update but part of me wonders if they did so people would play sims 4.

We had HORSES and tons of small pets, a future pack that you could change by present day actions with future relatives and robots, world adventures had THREE locations in one ep, a lot of occults, imaginary friends that could turn real ffs. All people have been talking about is platforms and idk why. The pack is what matters and I really wish they had added things. Like more families, more lots, better skiing places/more interesting slopes and a more navigatable mountain. The townies are so much fun to play and they actually have a bit of lore which is so fun. The pack is based on something that doesn’t have too much replay value, but they have started to go in the right direction with adding more than one trait, fun premades, townies with sentiments, incorporating different countries and actually nice builds(I still don’t know why they picked white simmers to do Japanese builds but that’s an issue that EA has always had.). I hope they continue this with the sims 5, without the thousands of shells and empty world feeling that usually comes with the sims 4

I mean I do create my OCs as well (from 8th grade) because the game is so pleasing to look at world and character wise but, gameplay and the work that goes into so much modding makes me only play for a day then give up for months.

I’ve been watching some people playing and I’m glad I didn’t buy it. EA or the Sims team (whoever is in charge of this) skimps out on everything. If it might look interesting they just don’t let it happen. The ski lift is a teleporter and they reuse the same fail animations on the ski slopes, so it doesn’t matter the age or skill, they all fall the same way over and over. It makes it boring to watch.
@@tjg813 The game needs more sandbox elements. In the old games, all the interactable locations were editable, but now so much of it is in these static world areas so once you've done it once it's always going to be the same.
I admit I am one of those "Barbie gameplayers" (that's how I call it) who force their sim into doing stuff for the sake of their own stories, but I always love your videos. Your arguments are very on point, and since I don't play like you, it teaches me a lot (on other ways to play, on the weaknesses of the game). I really do enjoy your work. I found your videos thanks to your work on the Sims 2, which will forever stay my favorite game (but I fell for the beautiful graphics of the fourth one, I admit). I'd love to see more Let's play on the Sims 2, if it's easier for you.

I'm going to say it again, this seems like it should have been a game pack. The lifestyles just....seem like more personality traits, from what I've watched on them? Like traits that you earn. But still traits.
Minus that, the gameplay involved with the actual snow stuff seems even less involved than gameplay with something like realm of magic. It's weird to me.
Let’s talk about how half the stuff packs should be in the base game. That’s why I don’t have any stuff packs because it’s a waste of money.
Stuff packs are absolutely not worth it for how much they cost, I only got the one with the hot tub when it was on sale. I hate how every single new thing in the game has to have its own separate pack now. Really, a separate pack for just bowling? Separate pack for vampires? Those were both included in night life in the sims 2. Among various other things.

Snowy Escape does exactly what Game Packs do. Add additional gameplay. It does not do what Expansion Packs are supposed to do which is expand the core gameplay. It’s like they combined Outdoor Retreat, Spa Day, and Seasons. I don’t think EA knows what to do with The Sims anymore.
Since sentiments are already a free update, if they made the hot pot area a free update object I would literally have no reason to buy this pack since literally all it is dlc for seasons

I think other American companies do the same, they care the most about their American audience. And the sims has always been an American/western simulator. This doesn’t mean the current lack of representation by ea is justified, but I don’t think this is just an an ea problem more of an issue related to a lot of game companies. I think ea is actual one of the better companies (if you don’t count the drama that are the current skin tones) regarding this issue. And I normally think important featheres should be in basegame but asking them to include so many in cultures would be a little too much I think. Because if they do the Japanese they need to do the other ones too.

Personally I play with families like I love the idea of one of sims being the great grandchildren of a sim that I made maybe a week ago...but with the sims 4 yes I can still do that without gameplay I never make it that far because there is nothing to do by the time I get there....sims 2 I great but the sims 3 is where my heart is at I fell in love with all the different Aspirations and traits they really made it easy to have unique Sims like the brooding trait where my sim will want to go sit by themselves or being shy they wouldn’t want to talk to anybody or they’ve been talking for too long...... I miss it

I agree. I really don't think there's any saving it now. It would be too complicated to fix the core problems with all the extra shit they've piled on top. I also have no hope for The Sims 5. IMO, a competitor will have to release a new Life Sim for us to ever get a fun game in this genre again. I'm crossing my fingers for Paralives and whatever Paradox is working on.

@@PleasantSims on the sims 5 I also feel that if it actually comes out it will also be milked to dead by EA I guess you're right our only hope for the genre it's to have a new game from a different competitor
the sims 5 will also be as dull or even duller. dont wanna be a pessimist or something, but thats just an expected outcome. the core of the team have changed a lot over the years, and the only thing that bothers the sims creators now is money and graphics, while in the past creators first of all wanted to release a game with an interesting gameplay.

Sims 4 devs thought the "eat cereal" want was the stand out feature from TS2
Something I think people tend to overlook that I really enjoyed about the sims 3, were the opportunities that would pop up tailored to certain skills they were working on etc.... I feel like those had such a big role in the game and may be one of the important things missing.

I wish at least parents/proper sims scolded children or other sims for not abiding by the customs. That would be at least a little more consequence.
This is why sims 3 is my favourite sims game, I literally bought this pack like yesterday, played 10 minutes and got bored, I had high hopes, but I don't see anything that is game changing, the only game changing difference was that my game was crashing more often, literally, when the sims 3 is going to get that 64 bit update for windows, the sims 4 will be OUT. But about the whims, I think there is a whim overhaul made by Bienchen or something somewhere, so that might help but I have no idea, I don't have any hope for this game anymore
The laziness of these big companies is kind of amazing. You can't even reach down to take your shoes off? Really? I mean I've taken animation classes, it's actually not that hard to do unless you're animating a specific style for taking off your shoes (and I mean that'd have been nice but I don't think anyone would have been disappointed with the same basic animation across all Sims). The Sims all have rigging already set up, which is a HUGE part of animation, and they still can't even bother to animate one tiny thing? Honestly, if the rest of this pack were incredible, it'd be barely a nitpick and I wouldn't harp on it but that alone tells me all I need to know here. This is the kind of shortcut I take as a smalltime game dev with limited resources, because when that's the case, you have to take some shortcuts to allocate the resources to major scenes. I have the excuse of having a small team who can only do so much, what's their excuse? What huge thing were they saving the animation team for? This game baffles me. The amount of detail that clearly went into CAS and build mode is not lost on me, but what's the point if there's nothing to do with the Sims you carefully created in the house you carefully built?

I want more whims and more sentiments and can they stop being so lazy with the animations????
Swear they just decided to forget whims all together when they opted to auto disable it rather than fix it so they're based on sims personalities. Like I would expect gardeners/loves outdoors to want to buy a bee box, not everyone in existence

Not a Sims4 player, just studying the community over time and some things:
- An expansion will NEVER fix core game issues! They'd need to fix the base game for that and they won't.
- The surveys are an amazing marketing tool from EA. Example: Community votes Eco Lifestyle, gets Nifty Knitting and then SOLD Eco Lifestyle shortly after. How nice :D
- EA has no intention to go back to packs, core games to "fix" things. They move on, hype something and cash in again.
- EA isn't really evil by doing so. It's a Corporation out for money and their concept proves them right. It is the community that's blind, naive or has virtual Stockholm Syndrome.
It is a shame what became of this franchise, but the community is still an interesting longterm study in itself.
