Here's a really easy park bench you can make in a weekend. I built it just using 2x4s and 1x3 lumber.

I'm a 53 year old retired Old Guy whose been into woodworking since I was 14 and I too have watched every video he's made and I continue to do so.His raw exuberance and love of wood working combined with his natural communication ability and presence is refreshing!! He's an incredible guy and I think you need to start working on some wood. :)

A few months ago I made your garden bench. I must say it turned out great for being my first project. I painted it with bright red oil based paint. It makes a world of difference. Thanks for the tutorial.

Steve, I have made a bench for all my children, grandchildren and 2 for myself. Seven in all. I built another daughter a table/bench that I got plans for out of a magazine. Thank you for the video. One of my grand daughters painted her's to look like the Texas Flag.

Yes thank you. Also I just want to say that your videos Are the sole reason I got into woodworking. And since collected tools And have built many of your projects. I recently started building some of my own ideas. Maybe when I acquire more woodworking skills I will send you my projects. I will say it has been hard with limited tools though. That's why I love your videos because you make them using the basic tools and skills. Once again thank you.

Generally speaking, it is simple but the idea is awesome! I strongly agree that every home also deserves a quiet, restful place to sit and enjoy the beauty they have created. Thanks for posting it! Now, comfort and relaxation is just few steps ahead of me.

    Steve,
I took this up as my first woodworking project and I am excited by the end result. I used mortise and tenon joints for the sides and rails (not perfect, but strong enough) and 2.5" screws with free hand drilling not having a Kregg jig. Worked out just fine.
Thanks a million for sharing everything and explaining everything in a straightforward manner.

one advice - when you attach the back with the long clamp, if you start from the bottom then the 2x4s for the back will still have some play so you can easily fit the boards, and still can clamp each one when screwing. If you know what I mean.

Simple way to make that last a little longer is any surface that has the grain UPRIGHT..facing the sky (end wood), just put a board on it. That keeps the rain from soaking into the core of the wood. Nice Bench. I do think I would have painted or stained it before assembly..and wouldn't that have looked great stained with spar varnish? Yea, I know you like paint.

It indicates 7 - 1'1" on a 2 x 4. 2 are the arms and 2 are the supports below the arms, leaving the 3 seat supports which are more than 1'1". Also the front uprights that are 34" inch Steves picture are only 32" in the cutlist
