I watch a lot of TH-cam moms and you being my age matters and I think it’s because everyone else is older than us and their kids are older and their houses and finances and lives are in a place that reflects that. I don't put hot sauce or onions in the fridge, but we do put syrup in, which I've discovered some other people object to. We live in FL but my inlaws live up in the mountains west of Denver. They stored Thanksgiving food in their garage (aka drive-in refrigerator), because it was 24 degrees outside. That blew my mind, because I remember summers so hot that opening the door between the garage and house caused our smoke alarm to go off. That was a bonus story. 😉
We keep syrup in the fridge too, my husband doesn't like to eat pancakes unless he can have cold syrup on top! Just doesn't taste the same warm... And yeah, we live where it's cold too so that's always an option in the winter!
I love mixing butter and syrup, heating it for pancakes!😛

What I do with my fridge is to clean one part each week. So I don't fiel guilty. And with "one part" I mean: only outside of the fridge; only the inside of the door and its containers; only one level inside de frigde and its under surface (I don't know if I write that the right way); only the drawer and its surface; only one level of the freezer. There was a time when I cleaned it once a year, but now my fridge is very decent everyday because of this method.

Sriracha doesn't have to be refrigerated. Just keep it away from your stove area. As for seasonal towels, I'm probably over the top, but I change my decorations and kitchen towels many times a year: Valentine's day ( January and February), St. Patrick's day (March), Easter/ Spring (April and May), Patriotic (June and July), Late summer (August and September), Autumn (October and November) and of course Christmas (December).
I love your sense of humor! 😁 As far as your butter song goes, though, I just want to say that butter is good for you! Real butter, that is, not margarine. And, obviously, all in moderation. But seriously. The book Real Food: What to Eat and Why by Nina Planck is excellent if you're interested in food and reading.

I put out St Pat’s decor the day after Valentine’s Day so I have a month to enjoy them. I also pack up seasonal towels with my decor so I don’t have it taking up space in the hand towel drawer the rest of the year.

I just did this after an incredibly awful roommate moved out. It was really, really bad. There was such satisfaction in throwing out all their oldy moldy crud and scrubbing the fridge clean. A clean fridge is a happy fridge! 😅

I learned from another youtuber that if you take all the removable parts and soak them in a tub of hot soapy water while you are wiping out the inside then after your done all you have to do is rinse and dry the removable parts and stick it all back together. Definitely saves time.

You are awesome here is my answer to your question about seasonal towels; I am also confused about seasonal towels, okay-but I developed a solution as I thought about this. Colored towels! Just get them all in colors and you always have the right color for that 1 day in the season and you can use them all year! 😂💖💖
I love your videos! I actually have so many condiments that it fills the whole door and half the bottom shelf. We keep the hot sauce in the pantry (who has room; Sriracha, chalula, Tabasco) My fridge has a glass bottom shelf that doesn't come out, it is the worst thing to clean so yes I avoid it for as long as possible. I do the flylady cleaning plan and will polish my cupboards every month and still neglect the fridge.
I only have seasonal towels for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The rest of the year I have roosters.
We keep our stick of butter being used on the kitchen table. Rest of the butter in the fridge. Hot sauce in the fridge. An entire door shelf of it. It’s the only condiment my husband will use. We buy gallon size Texas Pete. I try to clean the fridge out the day before grocery shopping too. Honestly it only happens about once a month. I do try to just wipe part down every night when I have soapy water in the sink. It’s like a cheat code that keeps it from getting super gross. You have inspired me to sing to my butter💚 I’m so happy your inner drama kid got all bottled like a genie to be released on TH-cam. You are something Todd and I look forward to! Something to make this easier in the future… I went to Target, bought plastic placemats and put them on the clean shelves. It’s really easy to pull out one placemat at a time, wipe that down and put it back.

Hot sauce in the fridge! And yes, we have so many condiments... I always feel vaguely hoarder-ish when I watch videos like this (fridge organising etc.) since most of those videos the content creators have minimalist, aesthetic fridges full of lots of amazing (i.e. leafy greens, tubs and tubs of fresh berries) stuff, yet not dozens of bottles of have used condiments like I do. So, I guess thanks for normalising fridges?? haha :D I can't live without condiments. Especially our 10 hot sauces!

I have/had my things that I lacked in when I was raising a young family, however my fridge wasn't mine, because of my method I used.
Every Thursday or Friday depending on which day was open I would give my fridge a quick clean knock down. I would let go of leftovers,
check dates on condiments, restock certain items, and give it a quick wipe down. I would invest no more than 10 minutes from start
to finish. My failure was my freezer I would only clean it up/organize it every month, only because once a month I would clean my fridge,
remove drawers and really clean it, however it would only take 15 to 20 minutes because of how well I did weekly.
Honestly you must do some sort of maintaining because it didn't look to bad :)

Hey Ariel, I love your channel. I’ve been a FlyLadyPlus fan since she started…but I’ve never been great at ‘everyday’, lol. I’ll try again. Anyway, I have a video request. I am a handicapped SAHM. I want to do a TH-cam channel too! But I don’t know how to find the time and energy to get the footage I need, and then edit it into something decent. I love that you have a realistic schedule about how often you post. I love that you are authentic and not always ‘made up’! Honestly, as a mom with multiple sclerosis, by the time I get dressed and do makeup…I need to go back to bed :(. Lol. Never I mind dinner, cleaning, and video creation! Could you please make a step-by-step video about HOW YOU MAKE YOUR VIDEOS? While also being a mom and running a household? I’m stuck, family are no help, I need guidance. How do you plan them? Edit them, etc? Thanks in advance? Sarah
Let me start off with telling you that it's really not easy! That's why I only post every other week and I even struggle to keep up with that!! I'm actually working on a video right now about how I keep up as a busy mom. And a lot of things I talk about in that video are things I need to do in order to be able to get these videos up regularly. So I won't say too much in this message because you can watch that video in a month but what I will say is I spend a solid 25 hours per video that I make. So if you want to start a TH-cam channel, know that it is a time commitment! You asked how I plan out my videos so here it is:
First I sit down and I write out a script. Sometimes this can take me up 6 hours depending on the topic. Next, I get a babysitter to film that script, which takes me around 2-3 hours. Then the editing takes the most time. This can take anywhere from 10-16 hours. When I'm done editing my video, then I put together a nice thumbnail and I upload! In the video I'm posting in the next few weeks you can learn about how I find the time in the day to do it. Keep your eye out for it, i'll be posting that one June 4th! Good luck to you!
As for the hot sauce debate, unless it says refrigerate after opening (and it doesn't) it goes in the cabinet and not taking up valuable real estate in the fridge. LOL And the towels, Nah...bruh. LOL Only Christmas and to be honest I sometimes don't put them out. I'm retired with a small house. Too much stuff.
Hot sauce belongs in the cabinet, it doesn't need to be cold. But you know, put it where you want🤗
If the hot sauce doesn't say "keep refrigerated", I'm putting it in the cabinet and saving myself the fridge space lol

Lol about the sriracha. I definitely would have taken your side!!! Also, pro tip I learned from another TH-cam video: when cleaning, start from the top and work your way down! Debris will fall from the upper levels onto the lower levels, so why clean the lowest level first when it’s inevitably going to need to be wiped again? Work smarter, not harder, so you can catch some TV before the babysitter leaves next time 😂
Vinegar based condiments can go in the cabinet. Also, I did NOT know the arms of the condiment shelves could pop off like that! It always amazes me how much hair and gunk is in the fridge when I clean it out.
Hot sauce is cupboard!! Unless it says refrigerate after opening on it. Cholula, sriracha, Frank’s all are in our cupboard. : )

I've been a long-time fan of Aurikatariina at "The Queen of Clean," but I can't muster up her enthusiasm. Next week my wife and I are having guests over after two years of "The Plague" and our house is a mess. Thanks to you I learned to give a task 15 minutes and then walk away. Don’t put your onions in your fridge! They pick up all the toxins! Also, an open container of baking soda can help absorb yucky odors. I cleaned my fridge last week and it was so much worse than this LOL you’re making the rest of us feel bad 😅 love your content!

Love your videos! I like to decorate a bit for holidays, even minor ones like St.Patrick's day. I use seasonal towels for the month of the holiday, so I would use that towel for the whole month of March. I have storage in my basement for these seasonal items though so they don't take up space in the kitchen.

I love how you sing while you clean. You’re good at singing. I usually will turn on music and sing/dance with my daughter while we do dishes/clean. I have “seasonal” towels that I got mainly with the theme of leaves (cause how can you not when your last name is Leaf. LOL) I don’t tend to stick to just the seasons though with them. It’s spring and I still pull out my “fall”/ “winter” towels. Lol So they’re totally viable at any point if you need to use them. We go through towels a lot though so I guess there’s that. Personal opinion: you can almost never have too many towels. Hiding the orange juice was also clever.
Also, I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you should be cleaning your refrigerator coils periodically to keep your fridge in tip top shape and to avoid costly repairs when it overheats from all the dust on the coils. It will run more efficiently as well. You can search TH-cam for vids on how to do this, there are a bunch out there.
You beat me by 15 minutes? You didn't mention that you can put your refrigerator on rollers to make this easy. Also, house fires have been started by not cleaning your coils.
@@justguessing7702 My grandfather had an appliance business and I have a cousins who do appliance repair still, 4th generation! Maintenance has been drilled into me since birth! (Do I do it like I should? Well, that’s an entirely different story…)

I cleaned out my fridge, like more than just throwing out bad food and found a receipt from 2019. Good news is the strawberry cheese Danish that I love from Walmart and will eat the whole thing in a day is still the same price! My pregnant self must be broken cause I am not a fan of pickles right now 🤣 but I do suddenly like Swiss cheese
Hot sauce goes in the fridge after it's opened. It probably doesn't matter unless it specifically says to refrigerate it after opening somewhere on the bottle but I'm too lazy to look so it goes in the fridge.
I was interested about the hot sauce question because my husband leaves his in the pantry so I googled it and found this information. An opened bottle of hot sauce should last two years in the refrigerator. Toss it after about six months at room temperature. This is a general rule, so sauces might last for a little longer or shorter depending on their ingredients.

Hey when you clean the fridge it's a cool idea to wipe it out at the end with a paper towel or rag with some vanilla essence and then it smells amazing not that fridgy smell, hello from New Zealand, love your channel.
Oh man, I had chili leak ALL THE WAY DOWN the back of my fridge this week😭😭😭 Some of it was frozen & everything... It's one thing when you plan to clean the fridge, another to be like, "Ah man, gotta clean this whole shelf. Wait a minute. And that shelf. And that shelf!!!" Grrrrr🤯
And, no, it is not wrong to have stuff just for mom! I read a comment where a mom said she keeps her candy in a bag of peas. I have a can opener that takes the whole top off the can. You could do that too, open some dog food or whatever, clean it & fill it up with your own yummy things! Put some paper towels or something to keep it from rattling. I give you permission👍👍👍

I love that you don't have all the glass shelves. Mine are a nightmare. I was sick 2 weekends ago and my hubs did it for me. It was worth the cold. Took a hour he said. I love the awkward made up singing...my kids were like OMG you do that too Mama. They said Mine is Cringy. 😳 🤣10 year olds what do they know.

Just cleaned my fridge Friday in preparation for my Saturday Costco haul. All I had to do was restock.
When in doubt, always the fridge. Condiments kind of gross me out (you know how the mustard and ketchup separate and need a shake or else yucky juice comes out). But my doors do look just like yours because I keep most things in the fridge even when they could be shelf stable.

Also I had a similar sriracha predicament at work. I always put it back in the fridge and the people living there would leave it on the counter. They also left out the Worcestershire. I think technically the sriracha can be left out though, I just worry about longevity.

I think your fridge didn't look that bad at all, Ariel! And my "fridge cleaning" will hopefully be kicking out my husband's 25ish-year-old fridge and my in-laws's 15ish-year-old cooler in a few weeks/months and finally getting the fridge/cooler-combo of our dreams, haha. Also I'm proud: I convinced my hubby just yesterday to get some fridge organizer boxes and we started with one for cheesy stuff and one for meat. ('Cold cuts' is apparently the word for it... Whatever, we're Germans, we got a lot of those lol.) As for the hot sauce I think we keep ours in the fridge?! What "triggered" me more is the Kikkoman soy sauce in the fridge... but who am I to judge, I sometimes keep my gochujang/hot chili pepper paste in the fridge. XD Whatever works for you I'd say. Contrary to age old beliefs, butter is not bad for you, a bit of research into more recent findings will show that margarine or any processed vegetable oils are quite detrimental to our health vs butter, animal fats or pure pressed oils like coconut, olive, avocado etc. Everything in moderation though. Btw your videos are the most motivating whenever I get into a cleaning slump, really appreciate your content!
