So i didn't dream up this video??? I watched the Burback video on kingdom hearts and had a moment of "wait... didn't Drew make a thing talking about his old kingdom videos?" I just assumed i was misremembering lmao
About Drew deleting the video- I said this in a comment thread but I see a lot of people wondering why he would delete so I’ll copy paste lol. I set an ooooold private video to unlisted recently and because it had the f-slur in it (my friends and myself in the LGBTQ community said them to one another a lot back then, in a way to take the word for ourselves), and TH-cam immediately gave me a warning strike on my channel and told me I have to remove it to get that strike removed. It limited a TON of stuff for my account. When you’re seeing choices like this made, you have to take into account that TH-cam restrictions have gotten wild.
that makes a lot of sense actually! if youtube can generate transcripts for videos it's likely they have an automatic flagging system for certain offensive words that they don't want people posting videos of

As someone who is both gay and by definition, technically an r-word. In this context, I do not care. In fact, it reminded me a bit of ghost story and I love that show. It’s sad Drew took this down. Edit: just to clarify, my experience won’t be the same as someone else who is gay and/or neurodivergent. I was called slurs when I was in school, enough to recognise the difference between when someone is trying to hurt you and when someone is a kid in the early 2000s parroting words his parents told him not to use. I don’t care when Drew uses these words because they are not used in a hurtful way and whilst I don’t understand, I do sympathise with people saying that they don’t like when anyone uses these words at all.
Just cuz you’re ok with it doesn’t mean other people in the community are. Or maybe consider Drew isn’t ok with having the video up himself. Stop giving your favs passes.
Honestly I can't blame the poor guy for taking this down. The sheer amount of second hand embarrassment I got watching this 😭 Shame it was the video celebrating a million, though, that shit was funny. That being said, as a gay, I forgive the slurs (it's obvious he's horrified), but ick

I grew up in the LGBTQ space with my friends and we all said wild gay slurs. I know people usually use “product of its time” as a bad excuse, but when it comes to children’s humor it’s really different. We emulated humor of older people, often siblings or older cousins or just the media in general. For those of us in the community, I think it helped deflect the insults by taking back the slurs for ourselves. We’ve all grown and those who haven’t would likely just say they’re homophobic proudly nowadays because they’re usually oddly proud of it 😅
