How do you amend your New England soil for carrots? Just grass and leaves? Shredded leaves? I've amended carrot beds with sphagnum moss, shredded leaves and it still compacted. Gave up on carrots. They are usually very small... Fellow New Englander in R.I.

@@josepharchambault8368 First we use a broad fork on the soil. The only amendment at planting is bone meal, compost or all purpose organic fertilizer (plant-tone). Once they get established we will mulch with cut grass. We use our grass clippings to mulch all of our gardens. We believe in always keeping the soil covered. In the fall we mulch everything with the leaves and grass clippings we collect with our mower. We have had the same problem with small carrots in new beds and this year we neglected them badly and they did pretty good. We also rotate our planting beds every year. Keep trying. Good luck.

So isn’t that too much for a family ?
What’s going to happen to all of that then

@@shitaljitkh4 The carrot will last in the fridge in plastic bags for several months. We will actually eat all of them. We love our carrots. If we have extras we always share with family and friends. Thanks for watching.
