"Growing carrots seems simple but unexpectedly it is very challenging! 😅 I have tried many ways, but this time following your instructions, the results are surprising. From choosing seeds, preparing the soil to watering , everything must be more gentle. Good idea, last year I planted carrots in the ground but was not successful, seeing this video, I will try planting in the pots, I have plenty of pots that I can use, thanks for sharing, new friend
Very nice. I grew carrots in 55 gal drum cut in half last year and I had some carrots that were so big I could not pull them out Hyn hand w out little shovel 😊
Im on day 11 with my carrots in shallow cardboard boxes lined with plastic outdoors. They are beautiful but will quickly need more room. Should i transplant them into grow bags now, or wait? Also, should i add garden vegetable/fruit waste to the soil? I have other vegetables like broccoli, squash, beets, tomatoes, and much more doing the same. They are growing beautifully ❤ but i am unsure when to transplant them to grow bage. For the big vegetables i have 5 lb bags, medium 3 lb, and for herbs 1lb. Love your videos!! New sub!
Hello. I wouldn't transplant carrots at all. You can damage or lose their taproot therefore they are better sown directly. How shallow are those boxes? And what is the carrot variety? No, don't add any veg/fruit waste to the soil. The best time to transplant is as soon as the weather allows to. For example I have already transplanted broccoli and lettuces, but tomatoes and peppers have to wait until cold nights are gone. Thank You very much, I am happy You like the content! ☺🌱🍀
I'd love to grow carrots, I'm so glad to come across this video. Thank you, but I'd like to know the proper ratios for the growing mix you put on the screen, the compost, bone meal, wood ash.
The root gets thicker in the last weeks of the growth. I tried to show them once they were clearly visible. Yes, this is baby carrot variety. Thank You very much ☺🥕🍀
Yes, this soil was already used to grow other plants. There are parts of roots visible in it. Just mix in som new compost. You can add some additives if You have them available (coffee grounds, wood ash, etc.) 🌱🍀
At 1:21 you state a temperature. Is this the temp of the water you are using? If so, has every watering got to be around that temp or are you ok to use unheated water after that? Sorry for the enquiry, my dad passed away and I'm the new understudy!
Hello. That is the optimal temperature for carrot seeds germiation. You can water it with cold water, as long as the around temperature is as warmer so the soil will heat up. Nothing to apologise for! This is what the comment section is made for 👍 Feel free to ask anything related to the topic and I will do my best to answer 💪
@@Liap Ahh, I get you, it's the optimal temp for germination and not the water temp so thanks for that. Another quick Q if that's ok. The wood shavings, are they there to deter any sort of pest?
I’m gonna do this too so far I have rosemary parsley spring onions in my garden but I wanna get going the big stuff so all I need to buy are the meats and eggs knowing the prices now on veggies
Hello there. I have just found out aboht this channel and I want to know what percentages of garden soil mix did you use for the carrots? I need to grow some more!
Can you please tell me what zone you live in? Also, do you have any suggestions on how to keep Rabbit and Chipmunks out of your carrots 🥕? I planted in a raised bed last year, and the rabbits climbed up the side and ate all my carrots and peas 🫛. All that hard work and I had nothing to show for it 😔
I had a similar problem - birds liked to dirt bathe in mine. I put a square of deer fencing over the top and took it off once the carrots had established.
I live in Slovakia, zone 6. Well, the most reliable thing You can do is to use some kind of fencing or netting. Or maybe let Your dog run around free, if that is an option. Regular bird netting seems like the easiest solution and works well.
"I planted carrots but I only found a lot of green leaves and the size was too small. I don't know if it's because of how to take care of it or if the soil is not nutritious enough? Does anyone have any experience to help carrots grow better? really want to find the cause and improve!
Hello. Make sure the space between plants is enough for the root do develop. Also make sure the soil is not too hard and compact, carrots thrive in loose soil. And make sure the soil is always moist, especially once the roots start to develop, at that stage they require more frequent watering. 🥕🍀
They don’t need much watering at start, but once the roots start to bulb up their water requirements increase significantly - every other day or even daily during hot summer days.
Hello. My neighbour uses cd's to detter birds from his garden. He just ties them and let them move in the wind. Maybe it will work for You too. Thank You very much :)

What went wrong?
@@Liapthey did not grow the carrot portion. Just a lot of greens. When I pulled out the carrot it was so tiny 😢

Absolutely! Compost with little enchancements works really well.
It definitely was, they were quite sweet 🥕😋
I came here to say the same thing and being from a sandy area, these soil enhancements are excellent to compensate for the lack of nutrients
