Dude I had a great childhood and I was not abused and I collect dolls! Collecting dolls and playing with them at an adult age are 2 different things!! I believe YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD FOR DOLLS!!!!
Cheryl I agree with you. Dolls are like a form of artwork. I would say quite the opposite of what he thinks. I think these dolls remind her of her childhood when things were safe and she had no worries. Of course hers was so out of hand that her house was not safe. If she didn't have the money shouldn't be buying them. I love Teddy Bears too,. Sorry if it creeps people out. I am 64 years old.
I kept some of my childhood dolls and have added more over the years. I probley have 75 now. I sell some once in awhile and buy others. I find doll collecting enjoyable. For me it has nothing to do with loss or traumatic events.
Because dying alone in a hospital in pain would be so much better? The dolls would probably care more than the hospital staff. Too bad they didn't just buy her some cabinets and plastic display cases to keep the dolls in. That would have been such a painless way to solve the problem. Do you know what they call people who find the misfortunates of others funny? Psychopaths. Better a hoarder than a psycho.
There are many people who don’t understand us doll collectors. Plus I can’t stand how Hollywood portrays dolls and clowns in horror movies. They are fun and nice to look at when displayed in a curio.
One of my grandmothers had a collection of dolls upstairs spare room for guests so when me and brother slept over we had sleep in that room well those sleep overs didn’t last long when your 5....
My parents bought me ever since doll I ever wanted 😡 they forced me to donate hundreds & hundreds of dolls to SF Saint Vincent DePaul when I turned 18 😡 now I'm 44 hoarding dolls again. I want 1800s thousand dollar dolls!!!!
I used to collect porcelain dolls, at one stage i had almost 100, they used to creep some people out. I had shelves on the wall for some and 2 large bookcases for the rest. With the earthquakes here, i was very hesitant bout putting the up after i had take. Them down to move. After a few years of them been in storage i eventually sold them all as it became clear i was never going to put them back up
When my son was small someone gave him a clown hand puppet with a plastic head. If you turned it one way, it would have a happy face. If you turned it the other way, it would have a frown. Needless to say, that did not last long in our house. I donated it to Goodwill. Probably picked up by a hoarder.
What Matt is saying is true, to me at least. I was molested as a child. I didn't know then, but I hoarded because I have lost the innocence of childhood. I have self-healed and haven't bought/ collected more. I have given away most of my toys/ dolls/ teddy bears and have held on to the ones that were special gifts, probably a dozen, from probably more than a hundred toys.
she just needs a certain room to display them and leave the rest of the house and maybe display a few that are her favorites. I collect dolls but not as much as her 5000 she had
My mom has a massive doll collection. She is a narcissist who has driven people away and they are all she has left. "Playing" with dolls is not normal. It shows you are stuck in your childhood development (Read about Erickson's stages of development). When mom had to downsize to a senior apartment 2 years ago, it was very traumatic with how many she saw go for pennies in the auction. But a senior apartment does not have a family room, full basement, large living room and 2 spare rooms to stash her dusty collection. As usual, Matt is right on. The rest of you are delusional and haven't figured it out yet. People first, then money, then things-Suzy Orman. I will never have a mother. I will see nothing of an inheritance. I will be left to deal with 100s and 100s of dolls that might get pennies in an auction.

Have you bought a large (500!) collection and is your house a mess?
You may also play with dolls as an adult.
Hoarding is not collecting anymore and often roots in tragic events.
@@Omnespossecapo That's what I was trying to say. I just simplified it.

I understand having a collection, but what is the point if you have no way of enjoying/displaying your collection?
You're absolutely right! That's why I don't over collect, I want to be able to display and enjoy!!
that's when it becomes the disorder!
Honestly as a doll collector I couldn’t even be mad 🥱
What is wrong with you?

@@beeme1893 no, m’am. You are a MESS if you don’t know the difference between collecting and hoarding.
“How awful would it be to die under thousands... of dolls” sorry but I can’t help laughing at that 😂 I’m dying 😆 I’m crying 🤣

He’s so judgmental, there’s nothing wrong with collecting dolls.

There’s nothing wrong with having lots of dolls. She just needed to whittle the collection to a more manageable number.
They would probably already have been more manageable if she had kept them stored in plastic boxes in cabinets.
I love dolls, but I limit them to two curio cabinets. I just don't have room for anymore unless they are quite small!
I have one cabinet and I rotate once a year a few I cant display due to lack of room. I love them.
@@lornadoon845 That's a good idea!

I love dolls too but leave them where I find them in hopes when they get a home they're taken care of.
These dolls deserved better.

I use to hate going to my grandma house, she had porcelain clown dolls. She had a good 100 of them and it would freak me out as a kid.
Me and my sister each had one. My friend is afraid of clowns so i dug my clown doll out of the shed to scare her with😂😂😂😂
