I think that he is mixing the sisters in his mind. Kind of like what he wanted then vs what he wants now. I feel bad for the older sister, she knows its him but will probably step aside for her sister.

Young kids with blond hair very often end up with much darker hair later. Both my dad and my younger brother were tow heads (very light blond hair) up until starting school. My brother ended up with brown hair and my father with very dark brown to black hair. I on the other hand had the same brown hair color all of my life, at least until it went gray and most of it fell out.

About the eye color im a Slav (from Poland) and Russians are ones too its often that the eye color changes as we grow up (my eyes were bright blue now they are Grey-Green)

8:30 If you go back to the playground scene in episode 1 you'll see that the girl called him "Masachka". Apparently she called him or at least thought of him as Sa-kun. This was her suddenly recognizing him, and then heartbreakingly realizes that her sister is in love with the present Masachika and she has always been in love with him from the past. This is why Maria has turned everyone down with the excuse that there's someone else she likes.
8:37 I wonder if she thinks he's forgotten his Russian or if she realizes that he's faking not knowing... I think it's pretty certain that she realizes that he's the childhood friend from back then.
I keep flipping between thinking that the sister might be the child friend, to being completely convinced she isn’t, to not being sure at all, and so on…
As for the difference in hair colour and eye colour, that could be there just to confuse us the viewers. An explanation might be that we are seeing the scene as Kuze remembers it… and if he can’t even remember her name, then him not being able to remember her hair/eye colour either wouldn’t be too much of a leap.
Edit: Blond hair and blue eyes are default “foreigner” in Japan.
(When I tell people that that combination is actually quite rare they are genuinely shocked)

@@kaibutzbach7356 Possibly, I really don’t know, but I think this is his memory kind of broken and confused. The tell us he doesn’t even remember her name. I think that’s a clue. We see her from his memory so I think he doesn’t remember well. She on the other hand is older a bit more mature and keep a picture, so her memory is more accurate. If or when he finds out his heart will be troubled.

I have Italian genes (mostly), and all my children had blue eyes at birth… but they all changed closer to middle school age. Now they range from green to brown… but I do think that they are laying out misleading information so you get confused along the way!

First, never read the LN or the Manga. This is my theory only. I think his memory is mixing things like it happens with time. She has a picture of him, so her memory is accurate, plus she is older. He doesn’t even remember her name. So I do think that’s her. She remembers because she appears to be in love with him and knew it. He was very close to her like a very best friend and maybe in love but didn’t know it as he is younger. I bet she is at least on year older and we know girl mature earlier than boys.
Yes kuze Is in love with Masha but he doesn't recognize her , he has a crush on her since they were Kids mostly of the light novel he's in love with her only in the last 1 or 2 chapter he's having a change of feelings towards Alya but he's still conflicted about It

First of all, For any source material readers out there Like Stefy said: NO SPOILERS, no clues, no hints, nothing. Let us anime only discover in due time who the girl in the park is.
The girl in the park seems to be the big plot twist, at the moment the most likely suspect is Masha (the older sister) since this episode flashback seems to show Alya at around the same age of the girl in the park and she still had silver hair, either her or someone else entirely that might show up at any moment.
I don't know the who the childhood friend is but coming from someone who has seen this type of storyline before, don't take the look of the childhood friend literally. Coming from a LN where its not a visual medium but Anime is, the look of the childhood friend is either just a placeholder or a flat out lie made to misdirect the audience because the answer would be too obvious in a visual medium if she were the look similar to the actual character.
They will likely just say during the reveal that his memories of the girl seemingly blonde were mistaken because of the passage of time. Very much like how he didn't remember her name in the first place.
good episode, my only guess is that his memories are not 100% accurate, but not sure, i guess we'll find out later in the series
Haven’t read the manga so don’t spoil, but how does Kuze manage to forget the person that taught him Russian? Is it cause of the parental trauma or is did he get hit in the head or what lol
She taught him a little and then he studied to fully learn it. They were very young and as you can tell, he didn't forget her, just her name, which ya know, happens when you're a grade school kid and then time passes.
