The eyes are a little big. The rule with eyes is that you draw them one eye apart from each other, which some people refer to as the "middle eye." Really its just a technique that most artiest use to make their eyes proportionate and if you're basing everything else on the eyes, then you need to make sure your eyes are drawn proportionate. YES I know he did the third eye rule but both eyes invaded the middle eye and thus out of proportion. Not trying to be mean, just something I noticed. :)
oh i so wanted to post an "image response". i've never drawn before and after your tutorials (i combined the eye, ear, nose, and mouth one--and assumed the same light source of course) i found myself with a decent looking portrait!!! i just followed along with you...you go slowly enough. anyway, my excitement is blubbering over. thanks a ton! :)
You forgot to add, where hair line in forehad area begins. It is the same distance like from bootom of the chin to bottom of the nose= bottom of the nose to eyebrow line=eyebrow line to hair line (so it's like we divide face on 3 parts)
what happened to real human beings. video s excellent. i can see that buulying doesnt stay in the classroom or on school buses. lets be thankful that someone took the time to share his skills. god
I was trying to use this tutorial it's a good one for some parts except the mouth I was following the video I'm a slow drawer and looked back and the mouth was giant why is it so big compared to his tutorial for the mouth!
part of the reason the mouth is so big is he drew the right line down from the right pupil too much to the right, instead of dropping a line straight down. That made the right side too long. Also, he made the eyes too big to start with. I think the nose is also too wide. Just go in .25 inch on each side of the mouth and that makes it 1/2 inch smaller.
You are free to use and do what you want but as a general guide to get better you need to practice a lot. If you are faster at drawing the same thing over and over again then that practice can be squeezed into a shorter time, either equalling more time to do other things or more time to practice. Now that's out of the way, its a good idea to get good at drawing straight lines without a ruler as it is much faster later on to be able to just dash out the straight lines here and there as you go rather than having to grab your ruler. It will be messy at first but if you manage to do a few pages every now and then just of straight lines then it will become second nature.
no the Proportions are correct and if people would pay attention all of his placements of the parts of the face are correct regardless of size or shape. This is how you build a head even if you can draw or can not these placements of halves work and is how one would build a human face in a life drawing class.
I don't know what he uses, but I use 5 years old Conte eVolution 655 HB/No2 (France) for thinner lines and for shape making and cheap wooden Centrum 2B 489 (China) for completing.
It's mass produced graphite pencils, it should be available in any bookstore. I got the Centrum ones from the local grocery store in Kehtna - 4 different strength pencils for an euro. Any HB and 2B pencils should work fine, the outcome depends on the user skill. My classmate uses also ordinary mass produced pencils, he draws photo quality pictures, although it takes weeks/months to complete one picture.
i thinkit varies. You got Steve Tyler and then you got Machiko Kyo. It also depends on the expression, the mouth is such a mobile thing, just worry about the center of it and the vertical placement :)
also from the bottom of the nose too the top of the head should be the same width of the head and the total width of the head should be 5 eyes, also the eyes should be about a total of 1 eye of space apart from each other. these slightly change depending on person. also people should learn the proportions of a real head too better understand how too change and exaggerate pieces for their own art style.

Thank you, this helped a lot. I did not realize that humans do not have 5 eyes across their face.

A mouth only a mother could love ..
Clear, fast and complete....this is a tutorial!

Great video, easy to understand not too slow. Thanks, Tlaine

Cool, thank you very much :)
THx u it help me a lot! Please, What kind of pencil do you use?
cool this nice thanks.
Thanks. I'm using a pencil called a layout pencil made by General. It's about the same as a 4b.
well,.practise make perfect.,.go on bro,.
11 yrs ago! Wow!
He's not making a perfect drawing, just proportions. Thank you. This has helped me :)
if i had a dollar for every frame in this video, i would be 5$ in debt
What type of pencil is that?
everything is so convenient when he draws.
thanx
That is slightly terrifying...
5 eyes
lol i love the way he says it
Congratulations newbies! I've shown you step by step how to draw Mick Jagger....
what kind of pencils are you using ? :)

well for the mouth this is not right at all. The edges of a mouth do not end normally with eyes, way out of proportion. Else it's nice for a start.
All hail the almighty mustache holder!
I love ur accent lol
Is it allowed to use a ruler? or is the secret to get good at drawing to not use tools at all?
You are free to use and do what you want but as a general guide to get better you need to practice a lot. I knew it!
I would say so too
Have you had this camera for a while...?
What kind of pencil is he using? 2B? Charcoal? Colour pencil?
i thought the mouth was gonna be a mustache at first
Hilarious! A young mullet-wearing Steven Tyler is about right.
CUALES SON LAS MEDIDAS ????
even for a tutorials on only proportions the face looks good!!
It is about the porportions...
to "almost" double the circle is kinda vague. you draw the distance from circle to jawline obviously a lot smaller.
reminds me of Napoleon Dynamites drawings
no the Proportions are correct and if people would pay attention all of his placements of the parts of the face are correct regardless of size or shape. can't see the video to blurry
suddenly i can draw..!!! thank u a lot
@sibalnom No it's Tiger Woods with a mullet
what is the name of the PENCIL? you use.
I don't know what he uses, but I use 5 years old Conte eVolution 655 HB/No2 (France) for thinner lines and for shape making and cheap wooden Centrum 2B 489 (China) for completing.
that materials didn`t sound familiar.
can I buy that in any bookstore??

Awesome! Mine for art looks like a lion XD
steven tyler is that you!!??
almost an alien: 5 eyes, no eyebrows and a huge human eating mouth
ya
I'm probably not right, but I think that the corners of the mouth are supposed to be as wise as the nose, ending at the nostrils.
i thinkit varies. You got Steve Tyler and then you got Machiko Kyo. It also depends on the expression, the mouth is such a mobile thing, just worry about the center of it and the vertical placement :)
+Jaquasia McKee Yeah I agree. It varies, but typically the mouth is as wide as the nose. Mine is.
Mouth is about the same size as an eye also the line to measure it comes down from the inner side of the iris ☺
Basically same as drawing manga face but smaller so
7:53 Kill me please!! xd kjajkajk Good video men :B
the bottom! of the lower lip is about halfway between the nose and the chin :P
also from the bottom of the nose too the top of the head should be the same width of the head and the total width of the head should be 5 eyes, also the eyes should be about a total of 1 eye of space apart from each other. these slightly change depending on person. also people should learn the proportions of a real head too better understand how too change and exaggerate pieces for their own art style.
Lip game strong! 😂
Looks like the guy who played in Jeepers Creepers
What are you drawing, Full House?
I'm sorry for the typo it's really Elaine.
My, What a Blank Stare You Have...
Was this shot in 5 FPS?
A human face with no eyebrows = an alien?
