    The best-known of the three cities is Dum Dum, founded in 1783. It was
    the headquarters of the Bengal artillery until 1853 and has an
    ammunition factory in which the dumdum, an expanding bullet, was first made. Hollow points and exploding/expanding bullets were called dumdums. Long forgot this term with this meaning, thanks for the waking up of old grey matter. Good find!

    It is so cool to watch you pull bullets out of the river/creeks! I really want to get a detector and hunt at my Grandma's farm. Her dad was a "collector" of many things. I've been told the yard looked like a junkyard! Awesome video! My 6 year old begs to watch you find things! Thanks for another amazing video!

    It's easy to understand why you prefer to dig by yourself. You invest a lot of your time researching to understanding the history of an area before you even get in the water. There must be times when you would rather listen to the sounds of the river rather than someone else yapping or beeping. I appreciate hearing you explain why a certain bend, ford, bridge, or other geographical feature makes for a good spot to search. Another adventure I've enjoyed. Keep them coming!

      It's a lot easier for me to make a video when I am by myself. If I'm with another 'tuber, I have to wait until they stop talking because I can't stand hearing separate conversations in the background of videos and I suspect I am not alone....like I like to be...lol.

      That is pretty good considering some of the really rapid waters you go in now. By the way, if you don't have weights handy, pick up a big rock and it may give you enough weight to get down and stay down long enough to pick up a knife or whatever.

    You call those Williams Cleaners bullets, but he never said that in his patent notes about them cleaning guns until his third variation of the bullet that was released.. That was from someone thinking that they cleaned the guns, whenever they where never intended for cleaning.. He just thought he could find a new plunger system to get the bullet out further, faster, and more accurate, then instead of how the old ball ammo was just pushed out before firing..

  • @bige.3474
    @bige.3474 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I often wonder about dropped bullets. Were they dropped because that's where they got killed? I also wonder how many are civil war "era" bullets that were surplus, and used in later years by ex soldiers for their own personal hunting.

    It seems like there is an almost unbelievable amount of dropped bullets. Why do you think it is such a common find? Surely ammo has always been at a premium for troops and even an unsuitable caliber is useful for the lead? Why wasn't it scavenged?
