Metal Detecting A Virginia Civil War Camp

- Please join me and my friend, Matt, as we metal detect a civil war camp in the lower Shenandoah Valley. We find some really great civil war relics and Mike from GR8Finds even stops by to detect with us for a few.

I found two broken triangular bayonets that were joined to make a pot holder for cooking over a fire near Kennesaw Mountain. I love hunting campsites for unusual things soldiers used.
Looks like I missed a few bullets out there. LOL. Love the button Matt found! See ya on the next one👍

Yep, pigs chew them. If anyone ever says it's human teeth marks you know never to believe anything they ever say after that because they are dead wrong. Period.
I wouldn't want to get hit by a minie ball bullet. They look more or less like a solid shotgun slug lol.

It's good to see there are still some nice targets in those fields. A couple of weeks ago I found a VA Half Penny and my daughter was able to dig a very thin 1/2 Reale.

Is this in the Moorefield area? I met a nice farmer in that area that let me hunt his pasture field. I was there twice after working in the area, probably a few hours each time and got a nice little handful of bullets each time. I didn't find much other than bullets, but there was very little trash. I need to go see him again now that things are thawing out and see if I could pop something good out.
So, pig chewed lead? Is it a possibility the chewed lead is also swallowed lead? The way they root and just devour what they find.
Imagine how many spirits are attached to your collection room.

Hey Chig, got any advice for a guy looking to buy his first detector? I'm looking at the Garrett Ace 250 or 300. The 400 is just a little above my price range. Any pointers would be appreciated.
What are the civil war bullets white ones made of?
Lead. They turn white after a few years in the ground because they oxidise.

I saw where you are going to stop doing the TH-cam thing,, OK, that is your right as a free person,but also heard it was because of what people are saying and your not getting the subscribers yet people are watching your videos. Now.Maybe I see things different than you but when you allow people who talk scrap dictate your moves it is called giving up, Did not think you had that in you. Anyway, If you want to stop because your tired and want to do other things it is cool and I get it but I really want you to understand that your real fans who have subscribed are many maybe not as many as you would like but, We do enjoy and will miss your cool videos that teach as well as entertain.
