Nice video! I’m headed to NC for a few days and planning on doing this route. I also have a big route planned in south Pisgah. I’m going to shuttle to the top of Pilot rock, descend to club gap, buckwheat to Bennett gap, climb back up clawhammer to upper upper black, descend into Avery creek, then pedal back up to the top of lower black, descend, and finish the ride with a sycamore cove loop. Should be around 36 miles and 5500-6000’ of vert. Can’t wait!!!
Nice riding! Im headed out here very soon to ride and make a video myself! Stoked to check out the new lower heartbreak! Keep up the riding, your videos are cool too!
@@DustyTrailsMTB I have done upper many times! It's a classic! I'm a local to Asheville and I've raced the Pisgah Enduro a few times which has Upper HB and Kitsuma! Would be sweet if they added lower HB to that race. Are you local? Would be awesome to run into another MTB TH-camr in the wild, ha!
🤣 Dude! I swore you told me your name was spelled DUY, but my wife told me I was wrong! Sorry about that homie! And yeah, it was great riding with you!
Great video! It got me excited to go back. The new section looks FAST! A few weeks ago we rode up Heartbreak, took HBR Upper to Star Gap, then rode up the fire road to Kitsuma. Kitsuma was kicking my butt at the end.
I've got to hit that new lower! Have rode the upper many times. Lots of them were during the race you were talking about. That race is called ORAM (Off- road assault on Mt Mitchell.)
It's hard to say. We added on Kitsuma, which isn't necessary, so that added some time. Strava says my moving time was 2:55 but with the shuttle time and all, it probably took us 4-5 hours? strava.app.link/jRDC7dXvtQb
Hell yeah bud! Thats a ride you should be REALLY proud of! Kelly, (in this video) parked at the top of Kitsuma, pedaled up the Old Mitchel Toll Road to the top of HeartBreak. After descending all that, he then climbed up Kitsuma with us Descended Kitsuma, and pedaled back to the Kitsuma Peak Parking Lot where his car was. Dude's an animal.
Hahah. Its been a journey! I put this video out ahead of schedule for relevancy, but that means I'm working on videos from earlier this spring that are still noisy! Lol
Hurricane Helene Update 1.31.2025 from Mountain Top Shuttles: we can't wait to resume this shuttle! However, the hurricane devastated the Blue Ridge Parkway, Hwy 80 and parts of Lower Heartbreak Ridge trail. Estimates on repairing Hwy 80 are over $45M. The Parkway plans to begin repairs in April 2025 with no estimated timeline. Lower Heartbreak Ridge has multiple slides on the climb section from Jarrett Creek Road and will require a half mile reroute with no estimated repair/reopening date. We know this is horrible news for everyone who loves these upper mountain trails and for all of the businesses that depend on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will be here when everything is repaired. You gotta get up, to get down!
I'm sure I'll get some hate for this, but are ebike laws enforced around these trails? I just moved to NC from WA and want to ride here, but as far as I know, ebikes are not allowed. What would happen if I rode mine anyway?
That's so interesting, I'd like to know more! My understanding is that the upper section of HeartBreak, which is the first part of my video, has not been changed. The lower section is a brand new trail, and so I'm not sure how you would have ridden it last year. What exactly did you ride?
I only have two brain cells dedicated to speech when I'm pushing myself like this! Everything else is focused on keeping me alive. So all I can manage to say is "siiick" or "holy f***"!
Definitely not the longest continuous downhill. There's several climbs on this trail. Including about a 20 minute climb. The new lower heartbreak is fucking boring too. It's sad that they keep building these bullshit sidewalk trails. Next time you do this I suggest poaching bald ridge hiking trail before you drop into heartbreak.
Love the style of your videos
Hey bud! Thanks so much! This sort of compliment means A LOT.

Damn bud! That's a huge day! You're gonna knock off the best of Pisgah is one day! Get it!
how do you shuttle? if you are alone which i usually am .. do they offer services to take you to the top?
Nice riding! Im headed out here very soon to ride and make a video myself! Stoked to check out the new lower heartbreak! Keep up the riding, your videos are cool too!
Thanks bud! You're gonna have a blast! It's such a fun rip. Have you done the upper before?

Gonna have to put that on the list for next trip down there!
It would have been worth it just for the upper section. That lower is a cherry on top!
That was quick!
I had to move on this edit to keep it relevant! It was stressful!

6:55. Everyone went OTB there at ORAMM last year.
Wow you were cookin! Looks like a blast! Do they allow e-bikes there? My 100mm CC bike probably wouldn’t like all that chunk.
This looks incredible and planning this same route with a shuttle on my next trip. Approximately how much time does it take?

@DustyTrailsMTB thanks!
Did this yesterday only I earned my downhill by riding up Curtis creek and the parkway.

You finally got rid of the noise on your bike. So much nicer now. What ended up being the noise?
Hahah. Its been a journey! I put this video out ahead of schedule for relevancy, but that means I'm working on videos from earlier this spring that are still noisy! Lol
Excellent ride and video!!!
How long did the climbs take/total?
I'm not sure exactly. The middle climb to the lower section of trail was probably only 15 minutes? But it wasn't a nice time. 😂

Nope. Not in Pisgah anywhere
@@sfade6217 As in they aren't enforced?
You’ll be fine. Every time I come to pisgah I see guys on e-bikes. If I had one I would not think twice about riding it there.
Getting every dollar worth outta that fork
Well put!
What are you riding?
2023 Trek Fuel EX 9.8 (Gen 6)
ya that climb is a mother fudger..did it yesterday after 3 days of riding..yup no ride today..lol
So brutal, right? Worth it tho.
@@DustyTrailsMTB totally 1000 percent worth it..super good coming down

Why does everybody on a mountain bike now think they have to sound like a valley girl? If the trails are that sick, they need medicine.
