While listening for Sheiko's mazurka, I spotted some motifs. Bars 2 and 4 - Brahms' allegretto from 3rd symphony. Bars 7 and 8 - Chopin's posthumous waltz in a-moll. Bar 16 - Tchaikovsky's sentimental waltz. As reminiscences. Mazurka is nostalgical.
A lot of classical Soviet pieces seem to have a certain brooding, melancholic tone to them. Beautiful in its own way, but with history in mind, I sometimes wonder how much of that was a product of its time.
@@Queeen7q Heavy restriction on artistic expression. It had to sound a certain way - strong, majestic, western influence was censored. Though there were pieces written out of rebellion as well. Sergei Prokofiev definitely falls into this category, not without consequence.
@@TurquoiseStar17 I think there are many stereotypes about that. :) You think the pieces of that collection are written against the 'restrictions' because they are melancholic but not "strong" and "majestic"? :))) Moreover, the Soviet time was not something 'united', but very, very different. For example, the 1920-30s, the 1940-1950s and 1960-1970s periods are not similar to each other. Including "Western influence".

It wasn't easy to compose easy pieces that sounded refreshing.
Good composers I haven't heard of.
Gracias por todas las piezas y compositores. Si no fuera por ti muchos nos quedaríamos sin conocerlas.❤
You have a great work!! Always showing us several unknowns composers from Russia and Soviet Union ❤
Großartig interpretiert. Herzlichen Dank.🌞
