    1) don’t put cuticle oil onto your nail plate in the middle of the prep process, if you have oily nails like me that’ll make your problem worse.
    2) hard gel is not meant to soak off… builder in a bottle and rubber bases can, but hard gel isn’t meant to be soaked off, it’s meant to be consistently infilled.

    • @n0thum4n
      @n0thum4n 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hard gel can be a soak off gel as well and if you do proper prep you can put oil on she does that because its benifical to her nail health if it doesnt help you dont do it

    • @BelsGels
      @BelsGels 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree with you 100% Hard Gel = file off, Soft Gel = soak off.
      If someone is soaking their nails a long time in acetone to remove hard gel then that would be why the nails are brittle and damaged, due to the long soaking process and prying to remove the hard product.
      As a professional nail tech I would not be putting cuticle oil on during application either. Its counter productive and a waste of product and money because you using dehyrator to remove it. Just wait until you have finished, that will be fine.

    Maybe chill on the cuticle trimming for a while to see if the sensitivity dies down; it may look "neater," but honestly doesn't help with nail health in the long term, and can be ann entrypoint for infection

    @carinafigueiredo53 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Hi great video! As a suggestion dont use oil in your nails before applying gel, that is the last step, the oil is absorved by the nail and causes lifting, using oil and then a primer which dehidrated the nail is not the correct way

    im on week 2 of my gelx set, its the longest my extensions have ever stayed on all 10 fingers (my first few attempts had a couple nails pop off before the 1st week was over) and im so excited to see how long they last. i also realized i was putting the tips on too close to the cuticle when they started to grow out enough to notice how the polish and the edge of the tips didnt line up very well lol.
    i dont have the money to buy a nail drill, so i think ill attempt to bevel the edges with a really small file by hand. And do you have any issues getting the thumb to completely cure? i akways have to use my mini lamp and solo cure them a second time.

    You should pick your sizes of nails prior to prepping. You are getting file dust in your already sticky nails. You need to get your instructions in better order. Acetone is going to “melt” your nails clean up with alcohol.

    • @hunta2619
      @hunta2619 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      acetone doesn't melt the nails unless they're being soaked in it for a period of time actually. Its perfectly fine to use it to clean up mistakes, trust me, I've been doing my own nails for a while and never have had an issue with melting from the acetone. Plus its cheaper to buy acetone than alcohol.
      And if you actually watch her other videos, she does pick out her nail sizes before hand, she's just showing how to know if the nail fits your natural nail for people who are unsure.

    as a nail tech i loveeee the dehydrator and primer from apres, my clients extensions have lasted more than 4 weeks on medical emergencies (i DO NOT recommend this otherwise)when they cant come to see me, and for taking care of them i recommend ibx treatment and daddy oil to promote growth and cuticle care in general (Aquaphor is amazing too) 💗

    14:44 😂😂 Nice 👌
    I'm about to start doing my own gel x nails. While waiting for the kit to arrive in the mail, I've watched every tutorial I could find on TH-cam. This one is by far my favorite one I've come across. You explain not only how you do it, but why. I'm going to follow your exact instructions. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

    I thought I had developed an allergy to gels. It ended up being the primer. I’ve stopped using primer and I’m ok now. Certain gels seem to have the same components as primer but for the most part, I’m ok with gels again.

    Question, can you use the ibd builder gel to actually attach the fake nail? Like instead of the apres gel?

    ⬅️professional here.
    I appreciate you trying hard to pronounce "adhesion" correctly.
    Après is is pronounced AH-PRAY.
    Follow the Après account and you'll hear them say it.
    I myself apply one thin layer of hard gel first. Because my gel never lifts, I thought this would be a good thing.
    I don't take off the dispersion (sticky) layer when moving on to the GelX service.
    Gel sticks to gel.
    So that's 3 steps not needed in your case.
    I do however apply 2 coats of primer when starting off the service.
    I also want to add that you are giving some solid advice. 👏👏
    Best of luck. 💜

    tip from a fellow nail tech, add cuticle oil after everything is finished! Oils tend to cause lifting! Oils should be added after all prep, products, and designs!

    This is exactly why i started doing my own nails. Going to the shop the design was beautiful but they did not last a week before lifting. Doing my own my nails last an easy three weeks! My key is dry manicure and following the steps of whatever system you are using.

    My pointer grows longer and my thumb is the strongest nail never gets thin it’s weird. And definitely try peel off base coat as nail influencer and try gel polish without hema (hema-free) which is what causes the contact dermatitis or allergies

  • @StArrBeArdy

    Love! Adhesion, Lol. I liked it when you said it your way. I've started doing my own nails this year and have watched your videos to learn the proper steps in getting them to last and I have had no issues with lifting so far. I remove them properly and my natural nails haven't taken a beating, they're still in pretty good shape. I do my nails every 2 weeks. They definitely could last longer but I just really like doing my nails and switching it up.
    I've nearly got all the necessary supplies, the only thing that I haven't gotten yet, is an e-file. I'm scared I'll over do it and ruin my nails if I do. What do you recommend for a beginner on a budget?

    • @TracyCampanella
      @TracyCampanella 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check the link to her Amazon storefront in the description box. As for going overboard, just put the efile on a low speed if roughly up your nail or removing dead skin. Until you're ready, use a hand file 😊

    • @hannahhess5772
      @hannahhess5772 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im no expert here but, You dont necessarily have to need an e file for gel-x nails. (Im just assuming that's what you do.) It will be a little bit difficult to remove false nails without an e file. If you are not comfortable with using an e file fo not use it. But, if you do want a beginner friendly e file I am almost certain she has one in her Amazon storefront. I hope this could've helped!

    Hey hun, just a little note about your allergy. You may be allergic to acetone. You place it around your cuticle to tidy up the gel - I’m allergic to acetone and gel products so I try to not get it on my skin at all. Try not using the acetone ( it’s the alcohol instead) it may stop the 2 day itching 😊❤

  • @YourGirl_Nancyy

    I have that same exact hard gel! But it doesn't cure🙃 I even spent money on a new lamp thinking maybe it was that and thin layers but nope😔 what could I be doing wrong?

    • @TracyCampanella
      @TracyCampanella 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you think it isn't curing?
      If it's because there's a sticky layer, that's normal. Gel sticks to gel. Just go on and apply the gel x nail. Make sure you cure longer rather than shorter time if in doubt.

    i've been doing my own nails for three years and what's really helped me is the dry manicure method. downsides of that is obviously my cuticiles get super dry and i have to moisturize them every day but my nails last so long. I also use a nail gel glue that's in a "jelly" form compared to regular nail gel glue that comes in a bottle. those literally stick to your nails for so long!

  • @chrissysoowavyy

    So happy I found ur tutorials....jus what I've been looking for. I love a nail that has a curve apex....I know I'll have to build it with gel a Lil more but I hate nails that kick up/upturned. They mostly screen fake press ons to me. I know u mentioned in one of your videos that u like a Lil more of the same. Have u found one that u like with this shape? That isn't as pricey as apres. I can't wait to see what else u come up with on this channel. Love. Tyfs. Also I've changed from using nail uv glue I've found using the hard gel so much more manageable. Ty for this 🥳🥳🥳🥳
