Same problems with many of the gundam figures where the jonts are not tough enough to hold the weight of weapons where the arm flops or you're having to use glue - here the magnes should be at lease .125 weight

Magnetize, or glue them directly to the carapace but not to the frame, so the whole top comes off as one.

I want this kit, but I also want to put the hand and chain sword on a swivel joint (sword behind hand, so you can just spin it around and have all the options) but that may not go well with others...

You're Probably thinking of the Warden, the one that came with the sprue with the Chaingun, Gauntlet, and the Carapace weapons. Their inclusion of the carapace weapon socket definitely leaves one to suspect they'll include that option somewhere along the way, or just as a conversion option for those of us who would like to source through extra sites things like the Chaos Knight Armor Plates to upgrade a Questoris/Desolator in the force. Doubly so since Forgeworld doesn'd do their kit for Chaos Knight anymore.
That said, I often tend to use 5x2mm magnets for my arms and such on my Knights - they're thicker than the ones you run, but narrower than your 5/16. I can socket mine right into the hole, I drill and place a few cross-braces with my wire to support them and then superglue the magnet before applying putty around it to seal it into place, cut the rotator tab off the arm join and drill a matching mount into the arm for it.
For the racks and chains and spikes, I was thinking it might be of merit for me to use my pin vise and drill pin/socket joins on them.. I have a 1/32 bit and 1mm bit, which are just either side of a piece of 20ga wire, the 1/32 a tight fit, the 1mm just a little looser, so it goes in easy, supports, but has no hard grip if I pull it back out.

put magnets on the exhaust. 1/16 inch should work, 4mm, and you can get smaller then that just drill holes to fit the magnets. Doing it to mine.

I just bought this kit and it's super nice. Reading the assembly manual I thought I'd had to get some extra arm parts if I wanted to magnetize and use all the weapons, but I guess I won't? Or does this only work if you put the fist on the left arm?
