Funny enough: The Sisters of Battle were recently added to the game "Gladius" (a turn-based game in the 40k universe. Slightly comparable with Civ). Since the Sisters of Battle lack a superheavy unit in the game, they got a Knight Lancer as an ally. All I need now is a person who can create the knight in 3D and mod it into the game. :P Speaking of superheavy... they have the castigator as a variant of the predator. How would a Land Raider or Baneblade look like in the style of a castigator?
Half of me wants to believe that the actual lore for this was the result of that exact opening conversation except between a bored sister and a techpriest.
10:19 Just saying, even today we do have liquid that allows you to breathe through it. Perfluorohexane can be pumped full of oxygen and allow people to breathe perfectly fine while completely submerged. Though I believe it has been stated that the transfer to or from liquid breathing is about as painful as going through child birth, so there's that.
OMG! i love this, i am imagining the Lancer blaring out loud and dark bone-vibrating organ music over the battlefield and since it is located so high upp you can hear it for Miles! and everyone knows what is approaching :D
i love the idea of the stained glass shield, overall the entire conversion is awesome, i personally wouldve changed the head or rather the helmet part of the head to resemble that of the sisters of battle, but hey thats just my personal design choice
Very cool mod/bash! And I believe the organ looks quite ok a bit tilted back, it's not as much as you suggested. It looks awesome! Can't wait for the paintjob!
I’ve done one of these with the same profile. It has the Exorcist pipe organ on the back and the head was replaced with the metal penitent engine pilot. I call it my Knight Penitent.
Green stuff in a small mixing cup or plate, heavy on the yellow. Create a bowl in the middle and add drops of 99%ipa, then use an old brush to make a paste. Fills all those little gaps around the candles and slightly mismatched parts without having to get out the modeling tools.
Order of the Sclaret Rose is a Ordo Minoris of the Battle Sisters and the last line from the wiki states “Small in number, the fledgling order boasts all the wargear and practices needed to wage war on the enemies of mankind. Least of all, a newly appointed Canoness piloting an Imperial Knight for the holy order.”
Quick tip in illustrator! You want to duplicate shapes and scale them one inside another? (3:36) Crtl+C, and then Crtl+Shift+V to paste in the same place. You have the copy exactly in the same place as the original now! Scale it and bum, you don't need to re-center. I believe that this also works for transferring stuff from one layer to another. Have fun!
Only 25 seconds in so forgive me if they mention this. Rules mechanically you can only take them as allies. Lore wise a knight can become a freeblade and dedicate itself to the sisters of battle thus joining the sororitas in a capacity of sorts. It's unheard of due to the fact that a freeblade forsakes their house and I'm pretty sure a noble title, and the chances one does this to join the sororitas is really unlikely, but by all accounts there's nothing stopping this from happening, and the hoops to get to this point would be kind of neat for story writing purposes.
With the release of 10th, both Knights and Titans can be included in your army if every model has the "Imperium" keyword. And as a matter of fact, Sisters do have the "Imperium" keyword! So now Sisters can make up arms with Knights and Titans canonically! Fantastic.
Excellent work as always ❤ My only critique would be that I’d personally have all the conversation work align vertically rather than all the odd angles. Apart from that I love this whole build, especially the stained glass shield. I can’t wait to see it painted.
I know it's an "old" video at this point but for the fit of parts when I make gun accessories, I throw a small portion of the model in the FDM printer, only the part that is in contact with other parts, I then adjust, reprint, and repeat until I get a fit I'm satisfied with, without any big gaps. Then I throw the full model in the FDM or the resin printer if I want more precision.
yooo, i kitbashed a Knight Paladin just the other week with much the same vibe, used the Exorcist tanks rocket system on the top and spent like 2 days making a filler so it fit right lol, awesome project!
beautiful but just a heads up one of the more forward sitting candelas really looks like its just floating there. you could add some green stuff under it to make it look a little better.
This is going to look so cool... the shield looks fantastic....!! However, It seems to be lacking in the parchment department... A few additions to the Lance or perhaps the Legs could be that extra detail it really deserves. In addition with scripture transfers for them It'd be crazy good. 👍
An exorcist organ on a knight is a lovely sight indeed. Perhaps a knight-priest would be an interesting build...hmmm...that one....I am going to make that. Thanks for the idea! I'll need a giant chainsword, and an even bigger flamethrower. I think the knight should also be chained to a large wagon that carries the sister's battlefield shrine on it. Oh yeah, this will be cool.
I came here because in OPR: Grimdark Future the "Blessed Sisters" actually can take a "titan" and I wanted to see how I could make it happen. This was a great project, well done!
I'm so glad to see Vae Victis minis getting some attention, even if only for their candles. They have been one of my favorite 3D sculptors for a few years now, and they need more attention than they get.
I went an entirely different direction with my sister's knight, I made mine a giant penitent engine for particularly bad heretics who should suffer for longer. But this is very cool, always nice to see, and makes me wish I had picked up 3d printing
For future clear prints, consider picking up a bottle of Siraya Tech Craft Ultra Clear resin. I haven't used it myself, but it seems very promising. It cures very slowly and prevents yellowing.
And now she either needs to repaint this or make another one in the colors of the sisters of the old blood because our martyred lady doesn't really work with her faction anymore. And I'm sure Dave couldn't figure out a 3D file with a piece of metal inside it and a magnet allowing it to have the folding chain weapon that some of her sisters have and talking about the piece of metal in the magnet this way so she can pose it in both open and closed position for that folding weapon and so she can also have magnet in the arm that holds the Lance so she can swap the arm out for the folding weapon.
This is great! And with the new AoO rules, seems like taking a Knight Armiger could be actually great strategy! Super excited to see the painting stage!
"In an Evangelion you're basically in a liquid. I prefer being able to breathe." Well, yes, but the LCL is oxygenated, and it allows the pilots inside to breathe normally as if it were regular air. It's also supposed to be quite comfortable inside an entry plug, so I imagine it'd be quite pleasant, other that the whole almost getting killed by giant angels from space thing. (Also yes I am a nerd, and I'm SUPER happy I got to finally comment on something about Evangelion. Custom Eva model kits soon?)
I love the stain glass shield but think you should have just sanded down the larger ones so they fit neatly inside - awesome project though looks great!
Guess what, the exact knight you used for the conversion is used in a Warhammer game called Gladius. It uses the Knight Lancer as an end game unit for the Sisters of Battle faction.
I can't wait to see the paint Job! I am just getting into 40K and have chosen The Sisters of Battle to be My army of choice. I bought some models last week and will be starting assembly this week!
This looks amazing, but if I could add just one critique, I'd drop the candles for more braziers. 2 reasons, 1) the scale of those candles looks off, and 2) to burn right they would need to be at an angle, or else they would melt basically sideways. Other then that, can't wait to see it painted! Maybe some smoke effects for the flames?
Oh, i have seen some really nice .STL/3D printed SoB parts, also some parts for Knight Chaplains and some Dark Angels Knight parts that can easily be used for a SoB allied Knight House model. In some cases you wouldn't have to do anything to them, well, maybe add a bit, but maybe not even cut things away. Problem is, a lot of stuff was only online temporarily, i had also seen some great stuff for more AdMech looking Knight parts that are just gone, a true shame ! And you should really make another Knight, but different model/chassis, and Flamer/Melta based, because SoB, and rule of cool.
Video 49 asking for the Thunderbear cavalry and the Storm bear rider? Punny Name still needed. Also, these would use the Thunderwolf cavalry and Stormrider statblock.
I'm so glad someone else had an idea in this vein... ever since I saw those Paragon Warsuits I was like "... feck I gotta find a way to mash up Sisters and Knights..." *edit* Watching further in now and *wow* what a cool take! A similar starting point to the idea rolling around in my head and a completely different outcome. AWESOME! Can't wait to see the painted version!
I cannot WAIT to see those stained glass windows painted! For a renegade Knight I can't help but think of the one that became so covered in grisly war trophies that it's worshipped by Necron Flayed ones.
That looks amazing! I wonder if this titan was near a certain cathedral at one point or another? Either way I hope you guys make a video of when that is painted. Thanks again for all of your great content.
There is a very valid reason Jen went to get help with getting these stained glass windows printed instead of attempting to manually make them and have them all fit would be soooooo awful, yeah who would want to subject themselves to that huh? ... You uh... got a leftover STL of that? Please?
