This scene is so important as it reminds Tifa of why she must support Cloud despite his flaws. Sephiroth knows that it's her commitment to Cloud and to restoring Clouds mind that will cause his defeat, as she is the only thing Cloud has left and is the only link he has to his past/ childhood. It's the only thing stopping Cloud from becoming completely brainwashed.
Not only that, but Cloud becomes like a vegetable here thinking that Tifa is gone. Dude is totally unresponsive and useless until Barret gives him a slap on the face and saying that Tifa needs him now.
Well it’s pretty obvious that she had a crush on cloud when they were kids. On the gold saucer date she basically admits it when she was discussing her feelings about being close to him. When trying to take the next step she then says or “am I getting ahead of myself again” that pretty much confirms that there was a time where she felt something for him and she believed he felt the same.
She didn't back then, the game is pretty clear Cloud had a crush on her as a kid and she never noticed him. Then, ironically, as adults it's kind of reversed.
@@carlotta4th how do you guys come to that conclusion? What do you mean she never noticed him? Have you finished the game? In part 1 we see her calling out to cloud and we see him ignoring her not the other way around. In rebirth we have dialogue that further backs up that cloud was the one ignoring her because he didn’t care for Emilio and the others. When they return to nibelheim tifa and cloud talk about their childhood and how she would always invite him out to play but he always turned her down or ignored her. This led her to believe that he actually dislike her which made their friendship a lot more rocky and made tifa believe that cloud preferred to be a loner instead. It wasn’t until the water tower scene where they could finally speak alone with one another without the others getting between them. This showed tifa that cloud didn’t actually hate her at all. In her novel it describes tifa as being really nervous about the water tower date and how she had to ask her mom what to do so she would stop panicking. Her mom told her to focus on clouds beauty because it makes him look less scary. Those feelings have always been there since they were kids but once cloud left, tifa’s feeling for him skyrocketed and grew to love. She didn’t know what she had until it was gone.
This is actually showing parts of Cloud's psyche/ memory and not her own, hence being shown from Cloud's perspective. The lifestream is trying to solidify Cloud and Tifa's bond.
this game solidified cloud and tifa as canon couple who loved each other, got separated by the niebelhiem incident and then went back to each other step by step working through the trauma they share, which is why their true end is together when cloud is finally healed, and they needed to establish that early so that people don't be weirded out when cloud is discovered to be head over heels for her in the lifestream and later on so they needed everyone to see that through everything, but what still feels not fully understood for me is aerith's feelings, i'm not sure when she has the dream sequence with cloud and when she discovers he see her as a friend or not in a romantic way, is she really saying her different liking for him is only her covering the fact she loves him but knows it is unrequited or is it because she herself is conflicted about her own feelings i'm not sure at all tbh aerith is confusing me, even if cloud and aerith as a mutual ship is dead, they did zack fucking dirty looking for the woman who possibly moved on from him to a guy who only loves another woman romantically and mutually lol

One part that's confusing though.... Why did Sephiroth save her from the giant monster that ate her? He could have easily let the monster be it would have had no reason to go back up to the surface, but instead he attacks it not once but twice. One dangerously close to where Tifa was, and two slicing the creature's entire back, causing it to swim back up to the surface where everyone else was.
Probably because of the white cloaked whispers. They work for Aerith, and are probably keeping Tifa safe. Hence why Sephiroth didn't even bother. Plus his demeanor. He's a cocky villain who has a god complex and will toy with his opponents
I'm wondering if like Aerith there are multiple Sephiroth's that can move between the lifestream timelines? This could be one who didn't go crazy at Nibelheim. When I first watched this I was like "why did he save her?" And it was out of character for him to struggle with the hide of the Weapon, if you ask me. That did NOT seem like any cool and collected Sephiroth we know trying to kill Tifa... But just a conjecture at this point.
