I like that Cosmo and Wanda are neighbors and have their own place that you can visit without being a fish… It was getting old Cosmo and Wanda hiding from Timmy’s parents that even the animators stopped caring and just had them blatantly as fairies in the same shot…
The fact that they let the baby character who used to talk like a Pokemon grow up into an adult fairy with his own godkid and distinct personality Alone makes this show a stellar sequel series.
Man I felt the opposite lmao Having multiple characters know about/share fairies to me lessens the stakes, makes the magical world less special, and dilutes hazels unique relationship with Cosmo and Wanda. This would’ve maybe been an interesting series finale, but to end the first season like this feels rushed to me. We barely know the other two characters but we’re supposed to like them and be OK with them being in on this major secret just because they’re Hazel’s friends? Maybe if just Antony knew that would be one thing but the other two just feel tacked on in my opinion. Plus it cheapens the idea of a child needing fairies. Hazel was already teetering on the edge of not really needing them, but rather having this relationship with Cosmo and Wanda because they willingly chose to assign themselves to her, but having her brother and her friends in on the secret diminishes the idea of fairies being a special source of support for kids

Why throw all that development away. We got to develop a love story between Dev and Hazel. I believe we will see them grow up, not stay 10 years old like Timmy

The show looks visually stunning while keeping to the original design aesthetic. Plus, the rebranding of the parent characters from 'Absolutely neglectful and borderline abusive' to 'Just regular parents with flaws' is really refreshing
Do note, however, that Peri is not demanding a season two because he doesn’t want to the show to be cut short (that’s our reasoning). He was demanding it so that the show doesn’t have to end on a fart. Thus, he understands that toilet humor is the lowest form of comedy known to man. Now THIS, is how they should have rebooted Rugrats. With the original kids grown up, married, and with their own babies. A true sequel to the two series that came before it, not a retconning reboot.
Do you think Dale's probably suffering from childhood trauma by Doug and Vicky when he was a kid? By the way Dale acts, it reminds me of Vicky for how she treats kids and pretends to be a nice caring babysitter in front of the adults. And for Dev, he seriously reminds me of Remy Buxaplenty in a way.
Honestly Dale’s due to trauma and the fact Doug didn’t show up till Dale wished to be reunited with his father. It makes perfect sense, bet Dave resented his Dad ever since and was still obviously haunted by his time with Vickey, despite trying to convince himself he turned okay, he didn’t.
This sequel show gives off major El Tigre meets the Ghost & Molly McGee vibes. It would be cool if the former got a sequel series with Manny & Frida as adults with three kids (one good, one evil, one in the middle).
I need more of Manny and Frida as kids first. Or maybe teens. Heck young adults. R rated superheroes are popular now, do the middle ground and give me a pg-13 young adult El Tigre and Danny Phantom and Ben Ten.
It's genuinely impressive how this show manages to cast off so much of the seasonal rot that the original accumulated over the years all the while still being so insanely loyal to its predecessor and all the lore and characters from the early days of FOP.

Allowing him to also hang with his old fairies, even if he won't remember them.
Like you, Jordan, I dropped off of the original series shortly after they introduced Poof (I think I watched the Wishology trilogy when that came out in '09, but I don't remember many details of it). Then, of course, I've learned about how FOP really crashed and burned, especially with those live-action specials. A New Wish, though, feels like a team really looked at the core of what made the original series special and brought it forward into a new series. There's a great combination of new characters and continuity from the original series where you feel rewarded whether you're an old or new fan.
Seeing jorgan with a grey beard kinda hits me in the mortality. Like I could get away with cosmo and Wanda being retired, but man that one kinda stung. As a 90s kid, I think I speak for us all seeing our kid show icons in their 50s and 60s makes me want to go back just once more…
I also have a question regarding Da Rules. Instead of it being a list of rules/laws that must be respected, how would you feel if every copy of Da Rules are actually files of every godchild in existence? There are some rules that are NEVER meant to be broken, rules that are meant to broken ONCE, and then, some rules that are just plain STUPID(breakfast stops at 10:30am)?
Extremely Surprised that the show was actually good 😭 and I love the references to the OG series that makes the show actual feel like a sequel I hope in later seasons they show what happened to Timmy and Chester. Kinda weird how Vicky looks like she hasn’t aged a day. Only thing I honestly don’t like is the Art Style but other than that it’s fine
After watching the reivival into online months ago, I was special on how they would treat the series making a comeback 20 years later. It all sounds like it's all done by most of the same creative team which sounds all great to know from the in-depth synopsis ya bring Jordan. I have planned on giving this revival a try and I still plan onto eventually. Looks like a real fun ride as much as the og series.
I have a question regarding “Peri” and “Irep”, do you see them as Poof and Foop? Also, how would you feel if Poof and Foop don’t exist anymore? My reason for asking this is because, remember, they’re wishes. Anyway, like Timmy’s “secret” wish, I believe that Poof and Foop were erased, rather than taken away”, when Timmy became of age to where he didn’t need fairies anymore?
Probably not a good idea at first but it clear for another contination of the franchise (not a reboot), they choose the people whose genuine care for it as it shows!
Mfw the tangent about unwishes spawning permanent copies of the people affected by the wish that was unwished makes me realize that Timantha became a real person for a time and is probably dead...
11:55 isn't it, like, they were living in the fishbowl for 57 years, what with the famous clip of Timmy wishing everyone stayed young so he could keep his fairy godparents "50 years ago"?
I stopped caring about Reboots all the same after what they did to Power Puff Girls & Ben 10 now, they are all just the same to me... TTG was different though sorta so I won't mention that here, that was more like a reimagining than a reboot to me honestly as far as the OG series goes.
I don't mean to be a blind hater, but everything I have seen of TTG was bad. Like, even if it weren't related to Teen Titans it's bad. As for reboots in general, I'm sort of the same. But if I hear good things about it, like with A New Wish, I'd be interested and give it a try.
@@daddydwavedI don't think he said anything wrong. Jordan posed the question of whether we thought the reboot was a good idea and he just stated he doesn't really like reboots.

Really does feel like the show runners really respected the OG show and decided to build on top of that without disrespecting the source material. So far no character assassinations, art transition well into 3d while still keeping the same style as 2d for faces(kinda looks like digital claymation without it being uncanny), and I think is most important is that there is an overarching plot this time around and will hopefully not just end in obscurity with endless standalone episodes. I really do hope if they are given the chance they will tell a good story and know when to end it. I also have mostly positive feelings about all of the references and call backs to the OG series. It feels like they have plenty of references without it becoming too in your face about it. I just hope they straddle this line without it becoming full on nostalgia bait in future episodes.
This reboot is executed to perfection, new elements while making subtle references to the original, they really managed to make the world feel bigger whilst at the end of the original (or at least what I recollect) really felt like it got stuck and only liked to deal with a handful of characters. Also, gotta applaud how much Cosmo and Wanda’s VAs are killing it even after however many years it has been. Such refreshing ideas, the new fairies and even how Cosmo and Wanda behave is so fun, loved the show I will be really upset if there is no more seasons. Thought I gotta say, the finale did not make a ton of sense, they said that fairies will explode if they don’t grant wishes but Cosmo and Wanda had 10k year vacation and retirement?? But who cares lol
Honestly it was WAY better than the previous attempts to continue/reboot it. PLUS considering what the Galax Institute focuses on... They could use it to continue DANNY PHANTOM too. Since the Galax Institute focuses on hunting/capturing/destroying the Magical/Alien/Ghostly. So it would be a danger for Fairy World, Anti Fairy World, Pixie World, and of course... The Ghost Zone. Which I would imagine would have been a HUGE thing, they would probably create something that FORCES Magical Buildup on Fairies, and the equivalent to the other magical beings. While for the ghost zone... They would be smarter than the Guys in White, and know that the dimensions are linked, but using magic gathered from the Magical beings... They can fully destroy it WITHOUT affecting the human world. Possibly bring back another Fairly Odd Parents character, Ms. Doombringer as one of their board members, or leading researchers, etc. Just IMAGINE the epic special that could lead up to... Ooo maybe even get help from other dimensions as a result of Galax trying to destroy things, i.e the walls to them start to break down. If they aren't stopped... ALL dimensions would be destroyed except for the Dimmsdale/Dimmadelphia one. YUP Jimmy Neutron aged up! Bye Fairy World, Pixie World, Anti Fairy World, Ghost Zone. Even Dairy World.
I loved the original series, but fell off somewhere after Poof was born, but before the dog fairy. I don’t know why Poof/Perry being in this show made me watch it, but I loved it! It’s like the good days of the original show, and I think the art style looks cool. Just wish I could figure out how long had past between the two.
The original series is such a fond memory for me. Big part of my youth growing up. I can still remember so many quotes and episodes. Sounds like you fell off the original series around the same time I did though. Right around when they had a baby. Never caught it regularly or kept up with it after that, including whatever happened in the sequel movies (I think they were sequels?) Glad to hear this new series ended up good. I truly loved this show, hope that with time other shows like Danny Phantom or My Life as a Teenage Robot get the same stuff.
Me too. I want more development from Jenny’s sisters
19:31 old man Timmy delivering pizza?
TYPING THIS TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THIS YOU AND BILLIAM 2 AMAZING VIDS IN 1 HOUR I AM BLESSED
8:00 Not to mention, Fairy World floats in Space.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, gonna watch it now.
Seeing jorgan with a grey beard kinda hits me in the mortality. Like I could get away with cosmo and Wanda being retired, but man that one kinda stung. As a 90s kid, I think I speak for us all seeing our kid show icons in their 50s and 60s makes me want to go back just once more…
"various other dimma-things" this is the stuff im here for. Hope you're doing well.
This show fills the ghost and Molly McGee shaped hole in all of our hearts.
I really want an episode where Chip Skylark returns to preform a concert in Dimmadelphia
And I hope it’s a glorious return worthy of Chip.
So uh... CAN we get a video breaking down the cameos and references? 👀 I'd watch it.
“I was bullied for watching anime and reading manga” I felt this D E E P in my soul, especially seeing the bullies now all in it 😒
I am about halfway through the first season and so far I think it's a pretty fun season
This new Fairly odd Parents has a "That 90s Show" vibe
37:40 immediately made me think of imaginary Gary and wonder if we'll ever get some obscure reference to him too eventually... 🤔
Poofs redesign into Perry is fantastic
I cant believe it took 20 years to make Butch Hartman designs look good in 3D.
Mfw the tangent about unwishes spawning permanent copies of the people affected by the wish that was unwished makes me realize that Timantha became a real person for a time and is probably dead...
Interesting to hear this reboot is a massive success
To quote Peri, they’d better give us a season 2
It’s nice to see an installment in the series where the parents don’t neglect and secretly hate their child
ANW is a solid sequel series.
I didn't even know this existed, it looks great!
i love that cosmo and wanda actually love eachother now
11:55 isn't it, like, they were living in the fishbowl for 57 years, what with the famous clip of Timmy wishing everyone stayed young so he could keep his fairy godparents "50 years ago"?
TTG didn't have to use the Teen Titans name. It could have been any generic comedy. That's what really makes me dislike it.
Ironically calling this FOP show a reboot is a mistake, it's a sequel series, set up 20 years after the original one ended, and with full continuity and returning characters.
@@moonhoneymami he can have a opinion, but he literally just said stop caring about those reboots, it just sounds like he’s butt hurt of Jordan for not disliking something he does dislikes
I stopped caring about fairy god parents years ago untill this bundle of joy fell out of the air which I brushed off untill later on in the season it got me hooked ... Which had me like wow Fairy god parents got me hooked again wow 🤯❤️
I think it’s worthy sequel. Heck they should give a season 2 all the way.
15:58 Oh HOW I was bullied for reading manga.
I still can't imagine its supposed to be main stream.
i had no idea there was a reboot, need to show this to my kids
I love how everyone went from groaning and being upset that they were not letting FOP die when it got announced, to wanting more when the season ended
6:59 Finally someone who doesn't hate Whispers Fred. He's overhated and funny imo
This new series was actually better than I expected it to be.
I watched some of the show with my younger cousin (I’m in my 30s and he’s 16!) and we both really love what we watched despite laughing at different parts and liking different characters
Honestly that was so refreshing, I’m happy there’s a show that adults and teens/kids can actually enjoy together even if for different aspects, they did a great job ❤
well they do still have sparky that was reveled in an ep so the dog does still exist sparky and poof i liked idc if people didn't like sparky i thought he was fun and funny. and i love the idea of a fairy dog
I really liked the new wish it was done right
I think a New Wish is better than the last 4 seasons of the original show.
I just remembered in the original series timmy did actually become a fairto know what its like so does that mean in that episode he had an anti fairy
While I don’t think this made me laugh as much as the original, I love the new idea, new style, and continuity from the original. I hope we see more
So your revuew made me check out an episode. Unfortunately, i can't get into the art style. The story sounds good, though.
The perfect amount of new and old! From the art-style to the plot. I great way to honor the source material, while also offering something new.
Didn't think I'd see an Alioth reference in Fairly Odd Parents. Lol
I wonder if season 2 will show us an adult Timmy and who he ended up with, im gonna laugh if he got with Veronica and not Tootie or Trixie
Hazel is what Chloe SHOULD have been
Right?
The original series is such a fond memory for me. Big part of my youth growing up. I can still remember so many quotes and episodes. Sounds like you fell off the original series around the same time I did though. Right around when they had a baby. Never caught it regularly or kept up with it after that, including whatever happened in the sequel movies (I think they were sequels?) Glad to hear this new series ended up good. I'll have to give it a shot. But I'm gonna stop the video at 11:15 so I don't spoil the rest for myself.
This just makes the kid me come back out again I got to watch the original show with my son, now I get to watch this new show with my grandson how wonderful is that😊😊😊😊😊
