- Story time! Join us for an adventure driving from Scotland to Bruges, Belgium! It was our first BIG road trip and our first time in Belgium. We will share some videos and photos and talk about our experiences. Even though this trip happened in 2017, I really wanted to share our experience and hopefully inspire others to visit this beautiful medieval city!

Ohh gosh, 😂 his greeting, along with the like & subscribe plus his story of the bug burger is wonderfully hilarious. This was a gorgeous trip for you both to share with us. I agree with you that the architecture, the restaurants, the landscapes, and seascapes are a photographer’s & artist’s dream. I hope you do get a chance to go back in the summertime to visit again. o my goodness-- i know so little about geography-- France is a 90 minute ferry ride from England.

There's something about medieval cities, they feel like they were made for humans. I'm not sure what the purpose of modern cities is (actually I do, it's to drive huge profits into the hands of a few while the majority toil and live with off the charts stress levels). I'm always happy walking around old cities, but strictly visit outside the main tourist season. I've visited Barcelona twice. Once was in the early autumn in the week that all the European kids went back to school. There were very few tourists, but the weather was still warm. It was magical. I went again, sadly during peak season, and it was truly awful. Similarly I loved walking around the medieval quarter of Granada. Wonderful, narrow winding streets and wherever you walk, astounding views of Al Hambra.
I have to say, that is a truly mental amount of driving for a 5 night getaway!
Ya'll need to go to Prague at night on the st Charles bridge. It's like a fairytale 💖

Sarah help, you said you are vegetarian but you like breakfast. What were the ingredients of your meal? Guess what I am asking it looked like it might have eggs and cheese in it. Your trip looked great, wolfie is a great addition to talk about your trips. Please tell him thanks, he is a great sport.
Yup, vegetarians eat eggs. Not vegans.

Yes, please go again in warmer weather and take us along to sketch and paint. I was there on a cold Sunday morning in winter eons ago when I was a student in France and went on a long weekend to Brussels with side trips to Bruges and Antwerp.
Ohh how was Brussels and Antwerp? If we go back (which I really want to) I would love to make a few more stops in Belgium!

So do we! I have been watching the travel bans and rules for ages. Road trips feel safer to me but I still have to know the restrictions per country. Now that it’s winter I’ll just go back to dreaming about our first road trip in spring!

Yup, loved Bruges. And yup, I saw it mostly alone … because I was always way behind the family … too busy taking photos of everything … but especially doorways!!! Thanks for the mini trip back … especially with his great ‘brand’ of humor!!

Thanks for sharing your adventures. Love hearing Wolfie’s comments too. He’s so personable and cute! What is it about doors, which I can’t get enough of either. I once did a university credit project about doors in Berkeley, California…took oodles of photos. The more quaint, the better!

It was beautiful, as expected. Brussels is in my top 3 places that I have ever visited. Thanks so much for sharing. Maybe you will paint one of those doors with gouache 😊.

I hope your man is on the road to recovery. I had a teeny tiny stone and it felt like I had been hit with a bat. I love these travel blogs. Beautiful and also encouragement for traveling when it's "safe" again. :)
Thank you for your well wishes for him! So far he’s still getting through it and it’s not fun :( we filmed this the week before his kidney stone
I have never been to Bruges, but I did go to Ghent. I remember it as cold wet and rainy in June.

bruges was one of my favorite places we visited in europe. such a cool city, with gorgeous architecture. I would love to go back, and spend a whole week getting to explore

@@SarahBurnsStudio It certainly not bothers me that much that I would not watch. I was just raised with "wait until the other person finishes, then you can talk". My parents were very respectful in that way. Not talking at the same time.
I can totally understand that. If I showed the unedited footage you would see that very often he doesn't finish his sentences or changes thoughts mid-sentence. I often have to help him. When I edit it might seem like I'm cutting him off all the time but it's really a matter of economy of time ☺ but yea, in person we always finish eachothers sentences or he talks over me (he's very loud and talkative!). I think with time and practice he will be much better on camera.
It took me years to get used to it.

5 years since we were there and going April, we love it! We have been in warmer weather - be prepared for crowds - and the cold - snow and ice - but loved it. It’s great that it is small enough to walk around. By the way Sarah I have just found your gouache videos and am about to launch into it. Nervous but seeing your lovely work inspires me to try something other than watercolour. Thank you.😊
