I'm not sure how I missed this video since I check frequently. How beautiful! Over 15 years ago, I could have permanently lost my vision. Fortunately, by God's grace, a retinal surgeon repaired what was damaged during my initial emergency procedure, and several surgeries later, I'm no longer legally blind. Thank you Sarah for not giving into the fear or wasting time on second guessing yourself. I believe most people perceive only what they want to see. Thank you for understanding that there is beauty to enjoy and be so willing and gifted to share that with the rest of us. Every day truly is a gift. We only need to look for it. Stay brave sweet girl, and keep chasing that light.

Sometimes wish I was a photographer and had a fancy camera, drone and the knowledge to put it all together as well as you do….but then would miss sharing your beautiful videos, complete with music! Thanks for sharing, Sarah.

We can have insane sunsets here on the Ayrshire coast. The sun going down behind Arran is a sight to behold. So many spectacular spots to observe and photograph from.

So, so beautiful. Thank you too for talking about fear, which I'm sure many of us can relate to. I'm embracing my creative side with paint after a lifetime of avoidance. Fear can be crippling. But when your soul keeps pushing you to do things that bring joy, you have to listen! You are doing good Sarah, thanks for sharing 🙏😊

I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland but haven’t got to yet. I was watching the beautiful scenery on the screen and couldn’t help but cry a little. I will go some day! Thank you for showing us how truly amazing Scotland is!

I can totally relate to that almost crippling anxiety/fear you mentioned over creating work that matches up with your expectations. I am often paralyzed by this feeling, the pressure I put on myself to create something worthy of sharing or selling or existing is sometimes overwhelming. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences, it really does help us on our journeys too.

I know I'm not the only one who feels it. It's a constant battle to overcome!

I found this vlog to be really interesting. I am in my 60s now and have been a photographer for over 40 years and have experienced many of the emotions you described. The fear of missing out led me to buy more equipment than I really needed - lenses, filters, tripods, you name it I bought it. Then one day, almost out of the blue, I decided to ditch the lot of it and move to just one premium compact camera. The difference it has made is amazing. That's mainly because I have eliminated my equipment options and so have to make do with what I have. But, and it's a big but, my camera is always with me. My fear of missing out has gone and, intriguingly, I feel liberated and have discovered new ways of being creative. Anyway, enough of my havers. Please keep up the great work and thank you so much for showcasing the beauty of my fantastic wee country.

    • @sarahinscotland

That totally makes sense! It's similar when I'm painting outside - if I bring tons of equipment or options, I often second guess myself and feel a bit frazzled, sometimes I don't sit down to paint at all because I kept over thinking and suddenly the light is gone. But if I go out with just a small kit, the choice is made for me and all that's left to do is paint whatever inspires me :)

Sarah your photography is inspiring. Loving your vlogs and the effort you put into them to show us how beautiful the light in Scotland is. I take a lot of photos to share and some to sketch from. No pressure on myself.just on a samsung phone. I feel like I just cannot keep the beauty of nature that I'm seeing to myself. Seeing how emotional you become strikes a chord with me. Thank you for not being afraid to share that.

This was one of my favorites of yours. Beautiful imagery, we'll produced with interesting variations in perspective and pace. It was kind of documententary, too. I know nature is your focus, but it would be interesting to see you create something like this around a castle and surrounding countryside and village. Bring memory cards, though! I used to always keep one of my older, lower capacity cards in my bag at all times as a backup for when I'd leave my card in the reader at home, which was my bane.

I've been thinking of doing a little castle tour (the local ones). There are so many ruins too...I'd love to sketch them all. The warm weather is escaping me though 😱

Well, I can see there is a considerable backlog of your videos which I will now have to watch through, now that you have been discovered by the algorithm. I guess I will have hours of restful watching ahead.
However it is time to visit Ullapool again, from North Yorkshire. About 400 miles, much of it driving along the A9 through the Cairngorms. "Can we say we're the The Highlands yet?" At Perth, at Bankfoot etc. Past Pitlochry, Aviemore, skirting Inverness, popping into Dingwall for fuel and supplies at Tesco, then hitting the road through Garve and then to Ullapool.... NEXT WEEK (!!).
Can't wait but I hope it isn't TOO icy on the A9.
(I have enjoyed the viseos of yours I have seen so far. Keep it up!).

That sounds like an absolutely lovely trip! I can envision it all. If you get a chance stop at the Storehouse near Dingwall, so many great treats there!! Have a safe journey

Haha! I think Outlander was filmed near my home in BC, Canada. Not surprising as much of the landscapes you show in your videos are similar to BC Coastal scenes.

You really "nailed" it when you were speaking about the fear of photography - I suffer from that as well........ I'll be out at my favourite lakes with my big lens to photograph and video the swans, but I can't get the imagery of the woods on the approach there. Also, I am like you in that I do my photography and videos for myself - I continually say that when I share things on Facebook, because there are people who do share my love of nature. Great video - and yes, it's all about the light!

I have the Mavic Mini, it's amazing. Just make sure to check regulations where you fly, and if you need a license. Most places have rules and heavy fines for not following. Also, have an amazing trip!! I'd love to go there!!

This video was absolutely beautiful, some of the views made me tear up a little. ❤ It made me want to live in a tiny cottage somewhere in the highlands where I can too run down to the river to enjoy the gorgeous sky. Thank you for showing us all of this. :)

What is blue marking on sheep :(

    • @sarahinscotland
      @sarahinscotland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Farmers spray their sheep, each farmer uses a different color so they can keep track
They also sometimes number them, and use other markers if they have defects or something
