  • Tamiya recently re-released 'FIGHTER BUGGY RX memorial edition' all in black and gold color match! It just reminded me of my old fighter buggy acquired from an old friend. This DT-01 chassis is the most advanced 'grasshopper' type chassis with front swing arm and rear live rigid axle gearbox.
It's actually not a 80's buggy, much younger generation of buggies. I considered DT-01 a modern buggy, but I guess now I can call it a vintage, since they are re-releasing it!

Awesome. I was seriously just thinking of extending a grasshopper chassis when I saw this. Still might..

Believe it or not I thought the friction dampers that were blue that came with this vehicle made it the way they had the suspension animated handle as well to me as the super hornet with CVA shocks but friction dampers because of the positions it was just as good I felt and the grasshopper chassis is that different than this chassis and definitely because of the rear end is different too.

Yes! I do agree with you the original friction damper I think would be better in this setup. I think the only reason I changed to oil damper I guess was due to the maintenance. In the friction dampers, the rods easily god rusted, and soon not working properly.

Thank you Mad-Bee! I wasn't really a fan of DT-01 chassis, but I realized they are are good performer while still maintaining the heritage of grasshopper^^ I think it would be great to get the re-releases!

Pretty much the worst handling and ugliest buggy I've ever owned (have 2 of them, came in a larger lot).
Note how at 1:51 how the rear shocks lengthen at takeoff, same problem as original Hornet and Hopper, because the rear shocks are mounted BEHIND the axle.
    Good video though.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts I guess the characteristic you mentioned is the same reason for some one who likes or dislikes this buggy🙂
