I wanted to tell you THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. I’m 27 years old and I’ve been trying to make grits since forever! They always come out lumpy and hard, my mom had even given up on me 😩 but after your video I made Sunday breakfast for the entire house and EVERYONE loved it! It was sooo creamy and soft, I’ve always struggled with popping myself and I didn’t get popped not once! Thank you thank you 🙏
Been eating grits for years and didn’t know how to make them. I used to cook them like rice then once they start popping I would cover them and be done. it was always a fail. I followed your video and Baby listen!!!! I’m finna make grits for everybody birthday!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
My granny taught me to do a 4:1 water to grit ratio and I promise they come out creamy/perfect each time. Plus I cook my grits about 15 minutes then I let them steam for about 10 minutes. Perfect grits!
Yep, I stopped the video & came to the comments as soon as I saw her ratio. That's definitely not how I've made them in 51 years of making grits. lol Your granny did it the right way. ❤ I'm not gonna bother watching the rest of the video but I don't see how they turned out good by doing a 2:1.
@@biancag8617 She had to continue adding water because they were too thick!! If you start with the right amount of water in the beginning, you don't have to keep adding water.
Girlll I went to go make these grits and my whole thing of grits fell on the floor!!!!! Omgggg but once I got some more grits I made them and I can honestly say you have the best tutorial! I followed the exact thing u did and they came out delicious!!
Something about this ladies voice is so relaxing. I feel like you could tell her your problems and then she would put her arm around you and tell you a story and all your problems would go away
Yummy! I usually just put two over easy eggs on top of my grits and mix it all in and that's really good but your turkey sausage looks delicious with the peppers! Thank you for your grits recipe!
Your instructions were really easy to understand and the finished product looked great. I watched a few other videos but they weren't as easy to understand as your video. I'll be trying your recipe with water and milk, next week. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. 👍
Californian, and Asian, here. I moved to Virginia, tried grits, and fell in love with them. I've been buying 12 lb. bags of yellow grits straight from a farm via Amazon. I know that butter is the most common fat to use, but I'm wondering what your opinion is regarding lard (this lard that I render at home from pig back fat purchased at the local butcher). Also, as far as seasonings, I found that I like using a home-mixed blend of Cajun seasoning, but I hope that's not some kind of violation of proper grits etiquette.
lard instead of butter-is non traditional in the black heritage as is cajun seasonings-some do use "cheese" but we're not too fond of seasoning and lard to make our grits-just butter-salt and pepper(sometimes hot sauce or cheese)....:)
Thank you! I'm not really good at making grits, so I decided to try your tutorial. Seems easy enough and the grits are smelling really good! I hope my family enjoys them! 💗😍
Thanks ~ I live in Canada, so I’ve only heard of hominy grits on TV but have always been curious to try them. I recently saw that they’ve started selling it at our local grocery, so I bought a bag, and want to learn how to make it. Cheers! xxx
I'm from the UK. I've never seen or heard of this before. It doesn't look too appetising but I might still try it. I thought the same about Biscuits and Gravy, I made it and it was DELICIOUS!
Same here, we have something similar in Germany, it's basically a sweet porridge made with milk and coarsely ground wheat.. And it's usually for children. Or you take the unsweetened porridge, pour it into a container, let it cool and cut it up into slices and fry it until golden.
I am a well established cook, but simple things like cooking grits is where I mess up. Thank you for the video and I will attempt to cook grits that are edible for the 1st time.
You are wonderful...You gave the water to grits ratio. I noticed you stick the pot handle to the back of the stove to keep nosey kids out of the emergency room. Thank you.
Not sure how long your pot will be non stick if you use a metal whisk too often otherwise thanks for a great video we don’t seem to have grits in Australia so was always curious

good to know about the added chicken base and butter,,I couldn't get our favorite restaurant to tell me their secret here in fla.
Really good instructions. Looks delicious 👍🏾
I just made a good batch of grits because of you thanks!
That metal whisk is going to have the non sick coating in your pan chipping. Use wood instead.
Joshua Thompson or rubber
or silicon
@Mina69a lol
Or basically anything but metal lol.
@Mina69a yes they make wooden whisks. Mexicans use them for 1,000 years
Your instructions were really easy to understand and the finished product looked great. I watched a few other videos but they weren't as easy to understand as your video.
I'll be trying your recipe with water and milk, next week.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. 👍

Olive oil's good also put some olive oil in there !
I like pumping also ... I don't like a pie crust so I use grits.

Much love, Brother and welcome to the Grit family. :D
How ever you like to eat them is proper grits etiquette 😃
Haha I like to make them like cereal with butter, milk, and brown sugar. Even I from Oklahoma can't fathom eating them the cajon way.
