My Mother also washed her grits and rice, so naturally I do the same. I have gotten many compliments from people who had never heard about washing your grits and rice. My Mother was an excellent cook. She passed June 3, 2021 @ age 93. 🙏🏽🕊️ 🕊️
Hunnnyyyyy let me tell u I was always trying to figure out why my grits came out hard no matter how long I cooked them. Watched this video followed all your steps and my grits came out so good and creamy fried some fish on the side so yummm ! Ty for changing my grit game 💪🏾 lol
Me too. Milk is just for taste. I used to do it so they won't be gritty. Thanks I will try this in the morning. I'm gonna cook some fish also with mine.
Even 2 years later still an amazing recipe It reminds just like how my aunt used to cook it who sadly passed away and you a beautiful black woman gave this 15 year old boy a memory that will last forever🫶🏾.
Thanks for your video! I started watching after I started cooking, so no rinsing this time. I'll try it next time for sure. What made a big difference for me was adding water midway. I think it gave the grits that extra bit of hydration they needed to turn out soft and fluffy! Thanks again :)
Grits in the box has added riboflavin, niacin and vitamins because FDA. Rinsing the unneeded powder from the grits using water is something i never thought of doing this and will do right away! Thank you!
I have been making my grits with our left over beef broth and the flavor is Amazing. However I will incorporate your step of rinsing the grits first. Making shrimp n grits tonight Thanxs
Thank God for this easy tutorial, I didn’t know how one step could cut me so much time in the kitchen , my grits used to come out gritty , which made me cook them longer . This recipe makes them come out perfect every time
They look gooder great on some buttered cheese toast yes take a spoonful of grits put it on your cheese toast mmmmm that's good ,I don't do eggs anymore as well
My great grandmother made me grits as a kid growing up in West Virginia and could she cook but my favorite way to eat grits is simply just butter and sugar and honestly I’m not a cheese grits person but I did find your video helpful.

Gritty grits means (to me) they're not done.

Thank you very much for what I think is a great recipe. I've been making lousy grits for years.
nice video - I like ground chicken with taco seasoning in mine as an alternative meal ( sometimes i even add sliced avocado on top) , soo soo good.
This is a game changer for me. This technique works.... thank you
I tend to use butter, stock and cream to make them, replacing the water content needed. 👍
Best grits recipe hands down!
Thank you❤
Chicken broth gives it a good flavor along with heavy cream.

Milk n whippn cream in grits make the best grits.. everybody love my ex grits and she finally told me her recipe
Can you do grits like overnight oats? 🤔
The ARMY has good grits but they were probably instant.
I will wash them like you said to. 💕💕
You save my lumpy gritsy grits😂
Does this work with instant?
Thanks, I'll try that american recipe.
❤❤❤
Grits without butter and salt is like a car without an engine. What is the point?🙄
Your recipe looks scrumptious!
¡You’re definitely appreciated for this video!
Thank you Tyrek❤
On behalf of the grit-eating world, thank you.
😂You're welcome luv❤
yum
Thank you!
Yesssss ma'am cheese and cheese 🧀 a d butter 🧈
What’s the grits to water ratio?
Follow the instructions on the box and add extra water gradually as needed or to smooth out if needed.
You won't have any regrits XD
YOU WON 🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂
Can you link the link to dat hot plate you using?
Yes ma'am clean your grits
To everyone that didn’t know to rinse grits I hope you rinse your rice
Why am I just now hearing that I’m supposed to rinse my grits off 😮
🤷🏾♀️
My sister's grits were still crunchy 🤣
Are you sure about that cooking time? Do the laws of physics cease to exist on your stove?
Hey Ray,
Low and slow is the key!
Rinse them ??? What kind of grits are they ? Can't be the instant kind
what if i want it sweet?
Just add sugar to the recipe.
Is there a Particular butter 🧈 you use ?
Any butter will do...
Do you use hot or cold water to rinse them?
Hi Toria,
Cold or luke warm
What brand of grits did you use?
Jim Dandy
Hey, love your video! I'm not from the united states of America but have always wanted to make grits. The closest thing in New Zealand I can buy here is Polenta. Is it possible to use polenta or by doing that, am I committing dietary sacrilege?
I believe you can use the same method for polenta.
I feel sorry for u maybe u can order grits from Amazon .
It’s the same. Polenta is more coarse, yellow Italian cuisine and Grits is white Southern USA.
Bob’s Red Mill package is written, polenta corn grits
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Milk or cream just makes it creamy and please use a whisk
When you said “rinse your grits” I was like No Way😮. Bout to have a great Catfish with Grits and Eggs moment 🤌🏿✊🏿🌺
Enjoy!
Yeah never understood why boil water add grits it makes them lumpy
If you stir the water while adding your grits to billing water they won't be lumpy.
Are these quick grits?
I'm wondering the same thing because I use quick grits and in the process of me rinsing them my water wasn't as cloudy as it was in the video
No, however you can use quick grits as well....same process
I don't believe any grits are quick. I cook mine the same regardless if they say quick and I usually only get quick when the other isn't available.
why not just add more water in the beginning, like double water.
Hi
you can, however if you add to much water you'll have runny grits. I always recommend to add as needed especially if you're just starting out.
No measurements.
Follow the measurements on the box...add extra water as needed
Take the training wheels off and go for it.
What brand of Grits are you using?
Jim Dandy
@@CinnamonStoveKitchen Thank you!
You won’t have any Regrits…
Hft
I hate that stuff that be in the grits
Me too😉
that's why it's good to rinse them
