- / loisdavidsonart Today I'd like to show you how I paint a loose watercolour seascape depicting storm clouds over the English channel. It is quite a quick and simple painting, but like most things it takes practice.
It's best done on 100% cotton paper, see materials list below. Thanks so much for watching, please like and subscribe for more fast & loose watercolour tutorials and demos! Thanks so much to my Patrons on Patreon for your support and for supporting this channel!
Materials:
Millford 100% cotton paper, 140lb, 15" x 11"/38cm x 28 cm
Cotman tube paints: paynes grey, yellow ochre, indigo and vandyke brown
Large Chinese 3" hake brush, small hake, 3/4" Cotman flat brush, no. 1 rigger brush - บันเทิง
I lost my wife last November. That sky puts on paper some of what I'm feeling. I feel so lost. Mixed up. Emotions churning. Like those clouds. Yeah...with this painting you caught things that I can't put into words.
So sorry for your loss...
You sound like you're really hurting and looking for someone to hear you. You deserve to have a safe person to sit and be with you in your grief. If you have access you should consult a social worker or psychologist - you can feel better again and be heard and seen.
@scarz1951~Aloha Sir,
May God Almighty bless you
with His Perfect peace & Faithfulness. Hallelujah 🙌
Truly stunning
Thanks for a great tutorial, the atmosphere is so convincing, storm, dark clouds flying across the sky ...❤

I’m always amazed at how loose you are with putting color onto the page. I wish I was as braze as you with putting color onto the page. Thanks for sharing another wonderful painting with us.
Amazing work as usual. These dramatic skies remind me so much of Hudson River School artists like Cole, Church and Bierstadt.
Lois, everything piece I've seen, is spectacular. Masterfully created. You are awesome. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift.
glad I found your video demo of stormy clouds. This is great! Thank you very much.
Lovely and restful. Soft lines. The blending is balanced. How I love a storm brewing on the water. Your voice is quite soothing and I like the way you discuss your tools and technique.

Lois, that sky is wonderful. Turner would have been proud of it.
Wow 😮 you’ve blown my mind by lifting your clouds with the brush and how you actually began with such heavy amounts of paint. Very inspirational and I really want to give this a try for my sky practice. Thanks for sharing this with us! You’re a new artist to me today.

Lois, such a dark atmosphere. The storm is coming, your painting comes alive ‼️Love how you made your water caps and especially adding a bit of black underneath. The fascinating setting gives me ideas for all the pictures l have drawn. Perhaps l should give it a go and paint a few😊 Thank you, Lois l just opened Google and there you were ♥️🤗💙✨🌟
