Outstanding rhythm, timing of the instruments, the bass is “cookin,” the percussionist is right on time, the drummer keeps it going and Amal Jamal is still the master. I’m going to add this to my collection.

This is jazz precision with a real piano versus fender rhodes ....the bassist is phenomenal, especially Manolo on percussion his timing is rhythm of perfection. 89 years young and "Ammy Jammy" is a living legend. #JUZT JENIUS

El bajista elabora un solo sin precedentes en el funkjazz con una limpieza ritmo y profundidad que emociona. El percusionista hace de cada instrumento un susurro de fineza y misticismo, entra con cada sonido en el momento justo , en el momento preciso y el ostinato del baterista es para paladear. Qué bello observar y oir esta clase de música sin aspavientos y virtuosismos atropellados , este jazz es de muy alto nivel, aparentemente sencillo, sublima. Y para darle mayor relevancia a todo este trabajo de equipo minucioso y sutil , Jamal da la pincelada dorada con su exquisito estilo minimalista , puras ideas , como debe ser.

the trick is in no need for seeing bandmates - they rather FEEL the leader and each other

Wynton Marsalis has nothing on the musicianship of Ahmad Jamal playing in the 50s.Back then, in the 50s, Black Jazz musicians were the most accomplished and liked on the radio and records. But were never awarded monetary awards by the record companies. Black musicians whose music garnered the record companies extensive amounts of money, were never compensated. because they were Black. Whomever the Black musicians hired as their agents, white or black people it didn't matter. The record companies CEO's, were never, ever going to provide a positive, enhancing music contract to a Black person. This was the norm, until the rappers came into the mix and told the white executives, "not today dude!"
