    WOW...what a perfect pairing of Jazz Giants; too lovely for words. That drummer's brief solo w/ the snare off was a brilliant exercise in economy; less became so much more! Yusef seemed to falter a little in the beginning, but boy did he ever make a comeback. This legend of Jazz not only sounds ancient & eternal; he looks it as well. His face seems to represent all of our collective humanity.

    Brother Yusef Lateef was one of the greatest sax and flute players in the history of jazz and beyond (worldmusic).
    In my opinion he invented the genre of "worldmusic" in the early 50ties. Thanks to TH-cam and other channels we can watch and listen to all those geniuses of the past.

    They don´t make such beautiful music anymore. Miles Davis once said that Ahmad Jamal is his favourite piano player and that says a lot about this giant of a man. To top it all off two giants that have created and given us so much. God bless them, There are not so many of them left. Listen to this bliss, close your eyes and submerge yourself in this outer worlds of
    music. Get bedazzled by sweet sounds of deep rhythms, slowly sucking you into it´s magnetic fields. Herar Yusuf on that flute luring you into uncharted fantasies where you will get lost, Ahmad on the piano saying "come. come. there is more".
    Sorry to say t he devil created R&B which our kids listen to today, they grow up in a cultureless monotonous society.Like Lady Gaga and her entourage of brainless followers. Our selfie society are endulgers in empty vessels. God bless the souls of those who can paint like Picasso and play like these gods

    • @jeanhodgson8623
      @jeanhodgson8623 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      God would never bless ANY Muslim. As Jesus said, "Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures."
      You mention that the devil created today's junky "R & B", but Islam is one of the devil's masterpieces. We have 13 centuries of evidence of that, and daily proof, with all the atrocities today.

    • @eeecol
      @eeecol 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And as for the first commenter: you are short sighted and don't put the effort forward to explore those deep and meaningful parts of culture that we have today. The fact that you use lady gaga as an example tells me enough about your surface level of understanding concerning youth culture. Do you not think that when lateef and Jamaal were making music there was a mainstream that lacked the deep and meaningful aspects of their work? Concerning the devil creating r&b: read a fucking book on black music history, pig.

    wonderful (flute-)Music - Yusef Lateef has been a constant influence for my music for decades - living until age 93 has been a long journey on earth - he might have stayed for some more hundreds of years and still he would have put some new insights to music crossing boundaries in between meditation and crosscultural music from the point of view of afroamerican jazz and beyond....Keep on playing your music in the next universe, you might have entered now, dear Yusef Lateef.

    A marvelous performance all round. Ahmad and Yusef are two of my very favorite jazz musicians. They always sound great. Thanks for posting it.
    Too bad that they, and so many other jazz musicians, fell for the 7th century mohammedan death cult. As a result, Yusef is in hell now, because the Biblical Jesus is the only way to heaven. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) Yusef came from Chattanooga, Tennessee, so he must have heard the gospel. There is even a large Bible College there. (Tennessee Temple)
    Dizzy Gillespie gave the real reason for several black jazz musicians joining Ahmadiyya Islam. It was because of the terrible anti-black attitude in a lot of America. A black person could not enter many premises, but if they said that they were a Muslim, they could get in. I didn't make that up. Diz said it. Monk was smart, and didn't join it.
    Ahmad is, thankfully, still alive, so he can still get saved. But he persuaded the excellent Vernell Fournier into becoming a Muslim, and he died and went to hell.
    What a tragedy, that a lot of fine jazz musicians fell for this evil, in a country that has the gospel. Heroin is evil, but this is infinitely worse.
    Here is the way to heaven: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." (Acts 16:31)
